Campus Planning

For my senior project I chose to redesign the northwest precinct of the Univeristy of Georgia’s campus. The master plan and site plan I produced reflect the real future needs of UGA and Athens. Vehicular circulation, pedestrian access, and minimum square footage requirements were just some of the challenges I faced during this project.

Cultural Landscape

14

Below is a regional garden I designed from cultural landscape influences in the Georgia piedmont. This garden is to serve as a public outdoor space for the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens, Georgia.

Historic Preservation In May of 2010, I took a maymester course in historic preservation through UGA. I studied preservation techniques, mapped historic sites, and created scale drawings of Hollybourne cottage on Jekyll Island, Ga.

Brownfield Redevelopment This project transformed an abandoned factory next to a rail line into a regional transportation hub and retail facility. I created a lively, new space while keeping the railroad and industrial history alive throughout the site.

In the fall of 2010, I was hired to design a two-story wood staircase that would provide access to the client’s game room above their garage. I successfully designed and oversaw the construction of a cedar staircase on the client’s home. I designed the staircase in AutoCAD and made hand sketches on site to convey my idea to the client and the builder.

In the summer of 2011, I interned at an organic farm. I was responsible for planning an edible landscape that would provide for the farm owners and their animals. Special interest on native species and multi-purpose plants was a priority.

Edible Landscapes Rock & Herb Garden

8

I produced a plan of the current landscape plan of the area closest to the farm house. This includes improvements made by myself over the summer.

Photos: Construction of a native aquatic pond. I repurposed an old water trough found burried in the front yard into a small pond. I moved native plants and rock found on the farm and installed them here.

I produced a plan for the future landscape plan of the area closest to the farm house. This includes improvements that could be implemented over the next few years.
