Definition: Light is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The word usually refers to visible light, which is visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight. Visible light is usually defined as having wavelengths in the range of 400–700 nanometres (nm), or 4.00 × 10−7 to 7.00 × 10−7 m, between the infrared (with longer wavelengths) and the ultraviolet (with shorter wavelengths). This wavelength means a frequency range of roughly 430–750 terahertz (THz).

Philosophical meanings: It is the mystery that light has never been found its essence.

Is it a particle? Is it a wave? Sometimes it seems to be one or the other, sometimes both. No matter which direction you are going or what speed, light always passes you at the speed of light.

In philosophy, light is very different, almost opposite.

Light is used as a symbol for understanding, for epiphany.

We talk of 'seeing the light', or 'being enlightened'. It's an analogy for the learning process, the gaining of insight and wisdom. The Statue of Liberty carries a torch that symbolizes enlightenment because the whole idea of our form of government came out of a period we call The Enlightenment. A 'student lamp' is the symbol of many universities, symbolizing the enlightenment available there, and their goal of enlightening their students.

Case study of Architectural lighting Lighting is necessary to be understood what is light and its technical components. lighting is the foundation that supports every lighting project. There are two main factors of light to support that are present in any lighting project: Color temperature and Chromatic Rendering index. Light will influence our way to keep in touch with other objects. Using the color temperature can change the color saturation and there is an impact on the space environment which may change the sense of space. In that case, related to the color of light from warm to cold, environment may provide the sense of approaching and the happiness of space for the feeling of human. It is because the light will be influenced by the sunlight and change the color saturation of the landscape, and may appear more vivid or more clear depending on the daytime.

In our real life, there are two lights can be used in our life. One is sunlight, the other one is tificial lighting. For the buildings, however, have to use both of them to make human beings more comfortable to enjoy their life and use them reasonablely. The same effect can be generated by artificial lighting, which, depending on the colour temperature can obtain different scenarios in the same space. People can change the light by using tificial lighting.the The Chromatic Rendering Index gives us the value from 0 to 100, of greater or lesser refund colour reliable of an illuminated object. The CRI of a lamp is given through the spectral distribution of light graph.

This aimed to contribute towards a methodology for integrate lighting in architectural design.

It is intended to define the fields of responsibility of the architect on the subject of lighting, and approaching this area to the development of conceptual architectural design.

This arises some themes for future development such as: 1) deepen modelling types such as classroom, office, exhibition space, among others according to their specific needs and spatial characteristics; 2 ) develop methods for assessing user satisfaction with regard to different lighting environments, using several approaches: test cells, realspaces with different possible scenarios of light, immersive virtual environments, among others, 3) develop software better suited for the integration of lighting architectural design, creating the possibility for achieving real photometric calculation (which currently takes place in programs such as Dialux) in 3D modeling tools used in architectural design.
