PERC Releases Commercial Safety

Fact Sheets for Key Market Sectors

To support safe propane use across a variety of commercial applications, late last year, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has released a new series of double-sided safety fact sheets tailored to specific industries and users. These downloadable tools are designed to help propane marketers educate their commercial customers on best practices and safety protocols unique to their operations. The new safety fact sheets cover the fol-

lowing sectors:

Asphalt Applications – Guidance on safe propane handling and usage for road crews and asphalt work zones.

Autogas Fleets – Covers fueling procedures, emergency shut-off, and vehiclespecific safety tips.

Commercial Small Cylinders Safety Guide – Focuses on safe storage, transport, and use of small propane cylinders for restaurants, hospitality, and portable equipment.

Construction Site Safety – Highlights propane safety for heaters, generators, and other temporary construction uses.

Christie Shook- Meetings, Membership & PSC Manager

We’re pleased to welcome Christie Shook to the Texas Propane Gas Association team! Christie officially cam on board April 7, 2025, and brings with her more than 27 years of invaluable experience in the events and hospitality industry. Since 1998, she has served in leadership roles as both an assistant general manager and general manager within the hotel and hospitality sector, where she honed her skills in event planning, operations, and customer service. Christie will be your primary point of contact for all things related to TPGA meetings, including the upcoming Crossroads Expo & Conference (registration opens in just a few weeks!), membership services, and the Propane Service Corporation (PSC). Whether you need assistance with meetings or the convention, have questions about membership, or have items to order through PSC, Christie is here to help. On a personal note, Christie’s family life keeps her just as busy and fulfilled. Her husband owns an AC and appliance repair business, and she’s a proud grandmother of four. Congratulations to TPGA member, Barrett Conway for winning Young Professional of the Year from the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA). With more than ten years of in-depth experience in the professional financial advisory space, Barrett Conway (based in Houston) is the Managing Director and Principal at Cetane Associates where he has led the execution of over 85 successful M&A deals. Barrett is a regular speaker and moderator on expert, educational panels specific to business valuation and M&A topics at industry conferences and webinars. As a member of the NPGA, Barrett sits on the Audit Committee and was named to the propane industry’s inaugural class of 30 Under 30 in 2020. Barrett earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Outside of work, Barrett enjoys an active lifestyle, indulging in hobbies such as running, golfing, fishing, and skiing. Alongside his wife Amy, he is actively involved in supporting charitable organizations including Safe House Project and others in the greater Houston area, reflecting his passion for giving back to the community.

After six years as the Southern U.S. representative for TPGA member Otodata, David Dodd has retired. As the first U.S. employee of the Canadianbased international firm, David played a vital role in its growth across North America.He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and a deep passion for the propane industry — one he says he'll always miss and be grateful to have served. Congratulations, David, and best wishes in retirement!
