It’s Time to Complete the Annual Retail Propane Sales Survey

Ensure Texas gets fair share of PERC Funding

Annually the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) partners with a research firm to conduct an annual retail propane sales survey. This year, PERC is partnering with Frost & Sullivan. Previously, the survey was conducted by API.

This spring, all propane retailers were sent an email invitation from Rachel Greenberg with PERC, with a unique link to complete their company’s report.

If you are unsure who at your company received the invitation or if you did not receive it, please contact Rachel Greenberg at rachel. greenberg@propane.com or 202-452-8975. Your data is CONFIDENTIAL and only published in aggregate per state.

Submit your survey by the May 31, 2021 deadline, to help ensure your state receives an accurate amount of state rebate funding from 20 percent of PERC’s annual revenues and to see that your assessment dollars are used in the most efficient way to support market trends.

Why Report?

The final report is shared on propane. com and incorporated into the National and State Propane Profiles, showing market trends by state and region.

Helps ensure Texas gets its fair share of funding so we can continue programs like: • Appliance Rebates • Duty to Warn Safety Mailing Program • Propane Consumer Safety Tip & Recipe Wall Calendar • Propane Living Consumer Newsletter & • Other marketing, safety and training programs.

Propane Sales Data from 2019

We’ve included here some of the data sets that these reports help build.

You’ll notice that in Texas, the gallons reported sold in 2019 compared to 2017 increased in excess of 100,000 gallons, which translates into more than a 30 percent increase in the two years.

Additionally, in 2019, about 45 percent

of all Texas sales were for residential use. Nationally the residential use percentage was a bit higher, around 57 percent. One additional area where Texas numbers differed from the national numbers are in the internal combustion subset: About 12 percent of Texas gallons were used for this purpose, compared to about 6 percent nationally.
