In 2012, the City Commission adopted a public art ordinance to enhance the aesthetic and cultural value of the city by including works of art on public properties within the city. The City Commission next created the Public Art Committee to guide the implementation of this program. This Committee meets the third Thursday of every month at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center at 5 pm. The City is proud to announce the dedication of its newest public art piece We Go Together by renowned artists Gillie and Marc Schattner. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 12:30 pm at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The ceremony is free and open to the public. “We are thrilled that Gillie and Marc’s creative genius is on display in our City,” said Laura Atria, Public Art Program Manager for the City. “This Australian husband and wife team is regarded worldwide. It is honor to have their beloved characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, in Pompano Beach.” Gillie and Marc are best known for these beloved characters who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soul mates. Unlikely animal kingdom companions, the Rabbit and the Dog stand for diversity and acceptance through love.
