CHAPTER ANNIVERSARIES

Atlanta Chapter

THE ATLANTA CHAPTER IS KNOWN FOR DOING BIG THINGS so it's no surprise that even their virtual 70th anniversary celebration was a marvel. Mothers received a hand-delivered keepsake box that included a bottle of Prosecco, an etched champagne flute, a decorated pastry and a 70th-anniversary lapel pin. During the October 10 event on the Topia platform, mothers had conversations with those near them on the platform, watched chapter videos, saw the muchanticipated fundraising committee presentation -- and even made their avatars dance! Mothers "walked" away reverent about the chapter’s history and excited to propel the Atlanta Chapter into the future.

NASHVILLE CHAPTER The Nashville Chapter is the Mother chapter of the Sweet, Sweet, Southeastern Region of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. It was the first chapter chartered in the Southeastern Region in April of 1947 and the twelfth chapter of Jack and Jill. For the month of September, Chapter Editor Celia Conley interviewed mothers (or dads) that were

75

chapter legacies. These memorable moments,

throwback photos, and the love that they are now able to pass on to their children, have kindled a

renewed commitment within the chapter to make it

better than before. Nashville will be celebrating its 75th anniversary throughout the year.

YEARS

SUNCOAST CHAPTER

In recognition of it’s 30-year anniversary, the Suncoast Chapter participated in a football game to support the HBCU represented team, Florida A&M University. This chapter-wide event provided an enjoyable college football experience while taking part in a rich cultural and educational event aimed at encouraging chapter youth to see the value of attending an HBCU while supporting the national organization’s commitment to supporting HBCUs. This event raised funds to support the chapter’s foundation efforts.

Florida's First Chapter Celebrates 70 Years of Chapter Excellence! Since it's chartering, September 15, 1951, one of the goals of the Tallahassee Chapter has been to work with and include parents and children of families other than its own, and to engage in projects for the betterment of the Big Bend community. The chapter has been extremely successful in achieving it's goals. To commemorate the 70th Anniversary, mothers of the Tallahassee Chapter have launched a “For Our Future” Campaign to raise $70,000 to Transform and ELEVATE African American Communities, One Child at A Time. Long Live Jack and Jill!

CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT

NORTH SUBURBAN ATLANTA CHAPTER ...ON THE MOVE

Making History.. . CHAPTER HISTORY In April, 1979 twenty-five women living in the northern suburban section of Atlanta met to discuss the possibility of establishing a chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. In May, the group submitted an application to Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and in September was accepted as a provisional chapter under the sponsorship of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Atlanta Chapter. The provisional chapter was chartered by Jack and Jill of America, Inc. with 29 members in July 1980 and installed as Jack and Jill of America, Inc., North Suburban Atlanta Chapter on September 14, 1980. North Suburban Atlanta Chapter has had the honor of watching several of its own serve Jack and Jill of America, Inc. at both the Regional and National levels. From 2007-2009, former NSAC President, Tamara Turnley Robinson served as Southeastern Regional Director. In 2009, she became the National Endorsed Candidate. At the 39th National Convention, Mrs. Robinson was elected National Vice President. In addition, former NSAC President Helen Mitchell was appointed Regional Parliamentarian for 2010-2011, and served the National Foundation. Finally, and most recently, our own Kim Jones Snipe was appointed to the National Bylaws Committee. Kimberly Fisher was appointed to the "We Are One" National Task Force. It is truly wonderful to see the commitment and leadership shown by the mothers of North Suburban Atlanta Chapter. We all are truly blessed to be a part of an organization such as Jack and Jill, where collectively we strive to mold our children into productive individuals who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
