Tēnā koutou katoa;

As someone who spent many years disconnected from my Ngāti Tama side, it was one of the most powerful experiences of my life to be welcomed with open arms. It was for this reason that I wanted to be involved with Ngāti Tama to connect further with my whānau. I also decided to become a trustee to utilise my education to advance Ngāti Tama ki Te Tauihu. It is an absolute privilege and joy to be able to work with such passionate people for our whānau.

Outside of Ngāti Tama I work as a graduate lawyer at Greenwood Roche in Ōtautahi specialising in commercial property law with a sub focus on forestry. I have found the skills I have learnt both during my studies and my mahi to be useful around the table.

I am very passionate about using the law as a vehicle for change and the advancement of Te Ao Māori. In recent months I have written submissions on behalf of Ngāti Tama ki te Waipounamu on the Kāinga ora - Homes and Communities Bill, the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Bill and the proposed changes to the Overseas Investment Act 2005.

I am also passionate about developing the wellbeing of Ngāti Tama ki Te Tauihu in all aspects including mental and physical health, community/ sense of belonging, language, education and career aspirations and financial security. This is something I believe the board continues to work toward.

I have a daughter and 3 grandsons in Brisbane and a sister here in Nelson. Since my retirement from a global packaging manufacturer after 25 years in Auckland I have returned to Nelson. To keep myself fit I volunteered to the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary and have contributed to the completion and maintenance of the biosecurity fence. Last month I was accepted as trustee representing Ngāti Tama and Te Ātiawa (Tokomaru Waka) on the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary Trust. This is one of three waka iwi seats on the board.
