Aren’t We All A Little Weird?

We live in a new weird world!
Monsters were created overnight.
Now they live among us!
Monsters & humans don’t get along much.....
My mom always told me to be kind to everyone.
My name is Jace. I go to Mt. Washington Elementary.
I’m really shy, and i always struggled to speak up. I really want to fit in with the popular kids.
Even though the popular kids can do some mean things. I would always look the other way.
Even when they’re mean to me.
This is Gum-Gum, my best friend.
Most kids stay away from him, because he’s different. He’s a monster. I always have lots of fun with him.
One day we were playing.
The popular kids approached us.
They started callling Gum-Gum names. They wanted me to play with them instead.
WEIRDO! MONSTER!
FREAK!
They said I should hangout with my own kind.
......i accepted.
Even though they considered me one of their own, they were still mean to me.
After a couple of days, I realized i made a mistake.
I realized Gum-Gum was more of a friend even though he was a monster.
I went to go look for him to say sorry.
I was a terrible friend. i was wrong.
“Hey”
“Here to call me a freak? .....a monster? .....a weirdo?”
“No....i wanted to say sorry. would you ever forgive me?” “you don’t think i’m weird?”
“We’re all a little weird, aren’t we?”
In our world, there will always be differences. Sometimes monsters don’t look like monsters. We shouldn’t dehumanize others just because someone says they don’t belong. Love comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. So love and respect everyone! No matter what.
