Here at the Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council, we look to provide comprehensive services to underprivileged or disadvantaged children and expectant families in the areas of Health, Education, Nutrition, Family Services, Disability, Mental Health, Early Literacy and Transportation.

Community Services Block Grant
The CSBG program at Waccamaw EOC provides comprehensive services and case management to empower individuals and families on their journey toward economic self-sufficiency. This federally funded initiative aims to reduce and prevent poverty by offering a range of direct assistance and supportive services. These may include financial aid to address immediate crises, housing support, and employment training programs to enhance job skills. Waccamaw EOC’s CSBG program also supports health and wellness needs and youth employment and characterbuilding initiatives, providing a pathway to stability and long-term success for eligible low-income households.

Head Start/Early Head Start Program
The Head Start and Early Head Start programs at Waccamaw EOC provide comprehensive early childhood development services for low-income children and their families in Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg Counties. Early Head Start serves infants, toddlers, and pregnant women, focusing on healthy prenatal development, infant and toddler growth, and positive family relationships. Head Start serves preschool-aged children, preparing them for kindergarten through educational activities, health screenings, and nutritious meals. Both programs emphasize parent involvement and offer holistic support, including health, nutrition, mental health, and social services, empowering families to thrive and ensuring children enter school ready to learn.

Weatherization Assistance Program
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) at Waccamaw EOC helps eligible low-income households in Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg Counties reduce their energy costs and improve their health and safety. Through energy audits, trained professionals identify where homes are losing energy. WAP then provides free, long-lasting energy efficiency improvements, such as sealing air leaks, adding insulation, repairing or replacing inefficient heating/cooling systems, and addressing health and safety concerns related to energy use. This program not only lowers utility bills but also creates more comfortable and healthier living environments for residents.
