Golden light flickers across the room as Pat Donckels carefully adjusts a string of fairy lights, watching how they reflect off the gilded ornaments and rich textiles surrounding her. "I want people to feel a sense of magic when they step into their homes", she says, smoothing the fabric of an opulent velvet cushion. "This collection is about embracing the contrasts of the season, from the dazzling energy of festive celebrations to the soothing comfort of winter retreats." As Creative Director of J-Line, Pat has once again curated a selection that speaks to both the

trend-driven and timeless aspects of interior design. This year, the Autumn-Winter 2025 collection is a tribute to seasonal charm and personal expression. "We wanted to create atmospheres that transport you, whether it’s the glitz of a New Year’s Eve party or the serene beauty of a snowy chalet," Pat explains. With themes like Nuit Dorée for those who love festive glamour, Disco Colour Pop for a playful twist, and Wild Brown for those who long for rustic comfort, the collection invites everyone to celebrate the season in their own way.

The Autumn-Winter 2025 collection seems to capture both the excitement of the holiday season and the cosiness of winter. What was the inspiration behind this duality?

Pat Donckels: "Autumn and winter are seasons of contrast. On one hand, you have the festive, high-energy moments: family gatherings, parties, and celebrations. On the other, you have quiet evenings by the fire, warm blankets, and soft candlelight. I wanted this collection to reflect both moods.

Take Nuit Dorée, for example. It’s about bringing the grandeur of a golden-lit evening into your home. I was inspired by vintage disco balls, shimmering metallics, and the elegance of a candlelit dinner. In contrast, Winter Glow is all about serenity, with soft textures, muted neutrals, and delicate pampas details. It’s a balance between exuberance and tranquillity."

Nuit Dorée is the signature theme of this collection. What makes it special?

Pat Donckels: "Nuit Dorée is all about golden glamour and festive elegance. It was inspired by the kind of unforgettable nights where everything feels luminous and alive, whether it’s a sophisticated dinner party or a New Year’s Eve celebration. You’ll see a lot of gold and white tones, shimmering accents, and playful glamorous elements like fringe curtains and mirrored details.

I wanted this theme to feel both nostalgic and modern. The disco balls bring a retro twist, while the sleek metallic vases and candle holders add contemporary sophistication. It’s a theme that lets you create a statement, whether that’s an opulent dining setup or just a few accent pieces to catch the light."

The collection also features playful themes like Disco Colour Pop and Welcome to the Circus. How do you balance fun with sophistication?

Pat Donckels: "That’s the magic of design, you can have fun while keeping things stylish. Disco Colour Pop is about boldness and joy. We introduced pops of pink, green, and silver, with unexpected disco-inspired details. It’s energetic and fresh, perfect for those who love a modern twist on festive decor. Welcome to the Circus, on the other hand, brings childhood nostalgia into holiday decor. Red and white stripes, nutcracker figures, and whimsical elements create a Christmas look that feels theatrical and full of character. But even within these playful themes, we’ve maintained a level of elegance through rich textures, quality materials, and thoughtful details."

The Kinda Timeless Already! collections bring a sense of everlastingness. How do you ensure they remain relevant year after year?

Pat Donckels: "Timeless design is about emotion and familiarity.

Wild Brown and Couleurs d’Automne are perfect examples of this. Wild Brown is rooted in deep, earthy tones and raw, natural textures. The presence of dark wood and horse figurines gives it a sense of strength and authenticity. It's a collection that feels connected to nature and never goes out of style.

Couleurs d’Automne, on the other hand, celebrates the richness of autumn with warm terracotta shades and seasonal details like pumpkins, scattered leaves and woodland creatures. It brings an enduring sense of comfort and familiarity, the kind that feels right at home year after year. There’s a quiet nostalgia to it, a way of keeping autumn’s beauty close, even as the seasons change. These collections evolve gently over time — maybe a new texture, or a fresh take on a classic shape — but their essence remains reassuringly the same."

Are there any pieces in this collection that hold special meaning for you?

Pat Donckels: "I have a deep connection with some of the smaller, personal details in this collection. The candy-inspired decorations in Pink Wonderland remind me of childhood winters filled with sweet treats like peppermint sticks or fluffy marshmallows, and the magic of holiday window displays. The mix of bright and pastel pink tones, combined with playful candy-like ornaments, creates a world that feels whimsical and full of joy.

The traditional Santa figurines in The Christmas Show take me straight back to childhood Christmases: unpacking ornaments, the scent of pine in the air, and the magic of the holiday season. There’s something so comforting about those classic red-and-green decorations, the kind that feel like they’ve been part of family traditions for generations."

What do you hope people will take away from this collection?

Pat Donckels: "I want people to see their homes as places of joy, warmth, and self-expression. Whether they love the glamour of Nuit Dorée, the boldness of Trendy Loft or the cosiness of Le Chalet, there’s something in this collection for everyone. Most importantly, I hope people use these pieces to create memories. A beautifully set table, a cosy corner by the fire, a dazzling party setup... These are the moments that make a house feel like a home."

This collection is designed to bring the glitz of New Year's Eve into your home, with a touch of the magic that only J-Line can create.

As they arrange the room, transforming it into a spectacle of elegance and sparkle, Caroline, Virginie, Griet, and Florian from J-Line’s decoration team share

their creative process. Their careful attention to detail ensures that each piece contributes to an atmosphere of festive sophistication. Virginie, positioning a reflective mirror ball centrepiece, shares, "Our goal is to spark moments of wonder. We aim for that gasp of delight as you enter a transformed space, that’s what Nuit Dorée is all about."

The creative pulse

The essence of Nuit Dorée is movement and energy, typically absent in the static nature of a showroom or photoshoot. How do you bring that dynamic party atmosphere to life?

Virginie notes, "We introduced movement through reflective elements, like mirrored surfaces and metallic fabrics. Small motors rotate disco balls to scatter light dynamically, bringing the energy of a live party. It’s a simple detail, but it immediately changes the mood of the room. Suddenly, the light is dancing across the walls, and that brings the whole scene to life."

Florian discusses the photoshoot strategy: "We staged the photoshoot as if the New Year’s Eve party was in full swing. Models in golden outfits interacted with the decor, clinking glasses, tossing sequins and dancing. We didn’t want to just show objects in place. We wanted to show how the collection feels when it’s being lived. Capturing that energy gives people a sense of what they can recreate at home."

Caroline recalls a memorable photoshoot moment: "Capturing the cover shot with Michelle, Pat's daughter, was magical. As she threw confetti, we caught a snapshot of it sparkling around her, encapsulating the sheer joy and festivity of the moment. It was spontaneous, not overly directed, and that made it feel real. You can feel the happiness in that shot, and for me, that’s what Nuit Dorée is really about."

Virginie praises the candle holders: "They combine sleek design with a touch of opulence, casting a warm, inviting glow that works beautifully for all kinds of celebrations. I love how versatile they are. You can group them together for impact, or place just one for a more understated look. Either way, they add a welcoming warmth and depth to the setting."

Griet is fond of the golden glassware: "It’s a piece to treasure, whether for a small gathering or a grand celebration. It balances nostalgia with a contemporary twist. The way it catches the light is beautiful, and it feels festive without being too formal. Even on an ordinary day, using this glassware brings a little extra joy to the table."

Caroline finds joy in the 3D printed vases: "Their versatility really captivates me. Whether they’re filled with flowers or left to stand alone, they have a quiet elegance that lifts any interior. They’re subtle but still draw the eye. What I love most is how they work across the seasons. Fresh flowers in spring, dried branches in winter. They’re not just for the holidays."
