METANOIA OF THE GLUTTONY GENIUS OF NATURE TUTORS: LIM WEILING JOHN GUK LOW CHIOU JING
Y2 SEMESTER 1 STUDIO SA4
A Guru is a living creature that live its life following the rules of nature. Unlike us humans, who have many choices and ways to live our lives. This project allows us to investigate and study the genius of these remarkable creatures which can be interpreted as their way of life and behaviour. The architecture and the overall programme is then formed based on the chosen guru.

GENIUS OF NATURE : REASEARCH & INVESTGATION
My chosen guru is the Lexias Pardalis Dirteana a.k.a the Archduke Caterpillar. Extensive research is done to pay attention to the biomimicry of the creature. From its form, to its behaviour and the its movement.

GENIUS OF NATURE : EXPLORING VARIATION
The process of exploring variations is to guide us to finding the form in our architecture. Here I explored some variations through the different positions and forms the caterpillar takes on.

GENIUS OF NATURE : PROGRAMME & COMMUNITY
From the narrative, I am able to identify the type of programme I have for my architecture,= as well as the community of people who inhabits this architecture. The programme for my architecture is an orphanage.

Y2 SEMESTER 1 ARCHITECTONICS
PUNGGOL NEIGHBOUHOOD CENTRE AND POLYCLINIC TUTORS: JOHN GUK
TEAM MEMBERS: NATASHA ANEESA MARICAN ZEPHAN YAP HAWWA FATIMAH
The project aims to further improve our technical drawing skills. In groups of 4 my teammates and I were tasked to come up with different sets of drawings based on our choice of building. It allows us to pay close attention to the detail, utilising the different layers and line weights.

CHANGI BEACH CABIN ADELMA TUTORS: ROBERT TEH
Y1 SEMESTER 2 BLD. CONSTRUCTION
Inspired by the the book, INVISIBLE CITIES by Italo Calvino, we were tasked to create a 4x4x4m Cabin based on the anecdotes of the different cities the author had experienced. My chosen city was ADELMA, a city of the dead.. In this studio challenge, we went through the process of doing site analysis, concept designing and detailed working drawings.

CHANGI BEACH CABIN: SITE ANALYSIS
CHANGI BEACH CABIN: BRIEF ANALYSIS
The City of Adelma, is a city of the dead. During the author’s journey into the city, dead people were appearing as masks to conceal the faces of the inhabitants living in Adelma. I feel like the reason why the dead keep on appearing is because they have an unfulfilled wish or a desire, which led to their unsatisfactory in the dead..
A series of abstract collages were created to show our interpretation of the city. After the collaging process, a haiku was then being created. The haiku I created for Adelma was ‘Enclosed spanning trees, Bridge between Dead and Living, Sacred linking Shields’. To sum it, I feel like the city is an oppurtunity for the living to meet the ones who passed, allowing both to live cohesively. The stanzas of the haike serves as a guide to assist in finding the form to the 4x4x4m Cabin.
CHANGI BEACH CABIN: CONCEPT MODELS
CHANGI BEACH CABIN: ARCHITECTONIC MODEL
After completing the Concept Models, an Architectonic model was then made combining all three concept models together. This was the outcome. From this model, I then continued to further develop this form to come up with the final construction model.
BAMBOO DESIGN CHALLENGE
Y1 SEMESTER 1 STUDIO SA1
MUNICH OLYMPIC STADIUM | FREI OTTO TUTORS: LIM WEILING ALVIN HOK EWE JIN
This project aims to explore and understand another construction material called Bamboo. Bamboo has an entirely different set of properties which one should be aware of when. In this project, we were tasked to trnasform an existing architecture into Bamboo Architecture.
BAMBOO DESIGN CHALLENGE : FINAL MODEL
We were supposed to place the final model in a different setting instead of the normal room setting to bring out its quality.

BAMBOO DESIGN CHALLENGE : UNDERSTANDING BAMBOO
I chose the Munich Olympic Stadium to experiment on the strength and flexibility of bamboo. It consists of tensile structures which provides shelter for the people. The sheltering feature of the Stadium is what I chose to continue developing.
Based on the shape and the arrangement of the tensile structures, the most appropriate application of Bamboo would be to utilise Bamboo Gridshells for my architecture.
BAMBOO DESIGN CHALLENGE : APPLYING BAMBOO
Most of the studies and research conducted was mostly about the different types of bamboo joints and the bending methods of bamboo

BODY INTERFACE
Y1 SEMESTER 1 STUDIO SA1
SPINNING WITH THE TREES TUTORS: LIM WEILING ALVIN
This project’s aim is to allow a connection between us and the environment using our senses (such as sight and smell) , having the mindset of architecture being an extenstion of our body. By conducting site studies, I studied the site features activated certain part of my senses. After identifying which sense I wanted to focus on, fur investigation was conducted to further enhance the experience.
BODY INTERFACE : PROCESSING
CHOSEN SITE: VISTA PARK, WOODLANDS
This was my chosen site, which was basically a park near my home. Immediately when I reached my site, I could not help but notice the trees and the greeneries and the landscaping. Hence, this what I chose to investigate on. I want to further investigate my experience with the trees in relation to my sense of sight. Other Site Elements • Children playing at the playground - Sound • Chirping Birds - Smell • Joggers - Proxemics • Soil - Smell
BODY INTERFACE : PROCESSING : INVESTIGATION & COLLAGING
My magic revolves around the trees in the park. I wanted to investigate a way that I could enhance my experience looking at the environment. Hence the ‘Spinning trees’ was the concept statement. I intepreted spinning as being able to view anything from any angle.
