Hailing from the Midwest yet intrigued by the draws of working while traveling the world, Carrie started her yachting career in 2005 as a Stewardess. Carrie brings her extensive knowledge of the yachting industry with her as Yacht Charter Consultant with IYC. She and Mark have coined the phrase “Let’s Go Yachting!” and want to ensure all of their clients have a Legendary Experience onboard their luxury yacht.

STATE OF THE MARKET: 2025

Healthy Brokerage Market: The global yacht market moderated in 2025, with total sales down 8% compared to 2024. The brokerage sector showed healthy activity at +4% versus 2024, with 602 deals completed, while reduced new-build activity continued to be the primary driver of the overall slowdown. Average yacht lengths and asking prices for brokerage vessels were broadly consistent with 2024, while total sales value showed a small increase year-on-year. Despite softer new-build performance, market sentiment remains positive, supported by healthy transaction "ow and sustained buyer engagement.

Yacht Supply Sustains Favorable Conditions for Buyers: Market dynamics in 2025 continued to favor buyers as elevated inventory levels persisted. Between January and December, 1208 yachts entered the market compared with 887 sales, maintaining an oversupply that provides purchasers with a broad range of options. Brokerage pricing has adjusted accordingly, returning to pre-2023 levels and creating an attractive environment for acquisitions.

Evolving Regional Dynamics: Regional performance showed signs of rebalancing. Europe maintained its position as the largest sales region, representing 54% of global transactions down slightly from 61% the previous year. Meanwhile, the U.S. market strengthened to 30%, re"ecting renewed appetite from American buyers. The U.S. drove late-year momentum as clients capitalized on bonus depreciation opportunities and competitive pricing.

Larger Yacht Segment Holds Firm: The 50m+ sector demonstrated notable resilience, increasing its share to 11% of total transactions compared to 9% in 2024. Several standout sales, including the 118m Feadship with a record asking price of #675 million, highlight sustained demand for high-quality, competitively priced vessels. The midsize and smaller yachts category remains a buyer’s market, particularly for older or lower-quality vessels. Price sensitivity is high, inventory is plentiful, and buyers have significant choice. Correct pricing and professional brokerage representation are critical to achieving a sale.

2026 is expected to be a more normalized yet active year for the superyacht market, underpinned by a healthier balance between supply and demand and gradually improving buyer con$dence across key regions. Inventory levels are likely to stabilize as the pace of new listings moderates, supporting $rmer pricing conditions, particularly in the brokerage sector, while purchasing decisions deferred in 2025 are expected to re-enter the market as uncertainty continues to ease. The U.S. is anticipated to remain a key driver of activity, with Europe providing a consistent foundation for global sales, and the larger yacht segment is expected to remain resilient, with high quality, well priced vessels continuing to attract demand across both brokerage and new build markets.

The charter market remained healthy in 2025, with total charter weeks booked broadly in line with 2024. The year opened strongly, supported by high demand in Q1, before activity softened in Q2 amid a more challenging macroeconomic environment. Momentum improved again closer to the core charter season, resulting in a higher share of last-minute bookings and an increase in special o ers. At the same time, the continued expansion of the global charter eet intensi%ed competition across most cruising regions, reinforcing the importance of correct pricing, yacht condition and onboard experience in maintaining performance.

CHARTER MARKET TRENDS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

2025 Early Bookings Gave Way To Last Minute Surge: The start of 2025 showed strong booking momentum, signaling a positive outlook for the summer season. This early pace eased as macroeconomic conditions weighed on demand, resulting in softer activity in the second quarter. As the summer period approached, booking behavior shifted toward shorter lead times, with a noticeable increase in last-minute enquiries. Overall, the summer charter season remained healthy, although it was characterized by a shorter booking window compared to previous years. Total activity for the period was broadly in line with 2024 levels.

Rise In Special O ers Driven By Last Minute Bookings: During the second quarter special o!ers increased as the market adapted to shifting demand patterns, including more cautious client behavior and a rise in last-minute charter bookings.

Expanding Charter Fleet Increases Competition: The global charter "eet continues to grow, with new yachts entering the market each year. With more yachts available to choose from, competition is becoming more intense, making di !erentiation through quality, service, and standout experiences increasingly important. While overall charter activity remains strong, the expanding fleet, especially in certain regions, contributed to fewer average charter weeks booked per yacht.

East Mediterranean Maintains Market Leadership: The East Mediterranean remained the leading charter region, accounting for 50% of bookings during the summer season. Greece continued to rank as the top global charter destination, while Croatia recorded a slight decline. The West Mediterranean recorded modest year-on-year growth, with France and Italy both increasing market share versus 2024. This year again, the West Mediterranean showed a trend of bookings being made closer to the season than in the East Mediterranean.

Healthy 2026 Winter Charter Season: Following a strong 2025 winter charter season, the 2026 season is showing healthy activity. The Caribbean has maintained its position as the dominant destination, while The Bahamas are broadly in line with last year. The holiday season also performed well across both destinations. Southeast Asia is gaining traction.

Guest Expectations Continue to Rise: Charter demand is increasingly shaped by lifestyle-led experiences, with onboard wellness gaining momentum alongside high-end gastronomic expectations. Guests are also seeking features such as outdoor cinema setups, modern tenders, and advanced water toys— often viewed as standard. Even in the 98' (30m) segment, it is now common for yachts to include a 30' (9m) chase tender within the charter rate, supporting $shing, watersports, and shore exploration.

SUMMER SEASON 2025 BOOKINGS BY LOCATION

EAST MEDITERRANEAN continues to lead the global charter market, representing a 50% share of total bookings.

• GREECE: Remains the top-performing destination worldwide, holding a 30% market share, consistent with 2024.

• CROATIA: Recorded a slightly slower performance, with 14% market share, compared to 15% last year.

• TÜRKIYE: Maintained a stable 6% share, showing steady demand.

WEST MEDITERRANEAN follows closely with a 45% market share, in line with 2024.

• FRANCE: Remains the second most booked destination, capturing 22% of total bookings and showing higher demand than the previous year.

• ITALY: Accounts for 19%, marking a modest increase from last year.

• THE BALEARICS (SPAIN): Experienced a marginal decline to 6%, down from 7% in 2024.

THE BAHAMAS & NEW ENGLAND: together represent 3% of summer bookings, consistent with last year’s $gures.

look at Monaco’s journey to becoming the world’s yachting capital, and how it still continues to lead today.

Everyglobal industry has its heart: fashion looks to Paris, $nance to London and New York, and for the superyacht world, it’s Monaco. Few locations command attention like the principality, and beyond its glamorous facade, Monaco has evolved into the operational, commercial, and cultural capital of yachting. It is here that deals are signed, yacht designs are uncovered, and the industry's future and in"uence are shaped.

But long before the principality became what it is today, with a thriving yachting industry, Monaco was already shaping life on the French Riviera. Steamships brought Europe’s elite to the harbor each summer, planting the initial seeds of modern luxury yachting.

This period in the 1860s also saw early regattas and private yacht gatherings

begin to cement Monaco’s pre-war reputation as a center for boating.

While initially modest in numbers, the yachts that "ocked to Monaco during the early 20th century were already becoming part of a much bigger story and identity. In 1929, these were the yachts that witnessed the very $rst motor race, and over the years, the sporting spectacle grew in importance, becoming known as the Grand Prix. Now, each year, the Monaco Grand Prix goes hand in hand with yachting’s culture, with superyachts lining the sea wall to get front-row seats to the action.

With the rise of such iconic events, Monaco began to cement its reputation as one of Europe’s most exclusive destinations, becoming the ultimate play-

ground for the privileged. The creation of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) group in 1863 was another catalyst for this, as it developed the iconic Monte Carlo Casino and a portfolio of luxury hotels that established Monaco as a high-end leisure and tourism hotspot.

Figures such as Aristotle Onassis, who took control of SBM in the 1950s, further helped develop Monaco and underscored its allure for royalty, magnates, and icons. Grace Kelly was a particularly signi$cant icon, as she helped put Monaco $rmly on the global map. After marrying Prince Rainier III, the Hollywood star welcomed international attention, with her in"uence and role as the Princess of Monaco, helping shape its cultural identity, and linking it to realms beyond yachting, such as fashion, art, and social prestige.

Post-war, the yachting culture continued to be shaped, with the creation of the Yacht Club de Monaco in 1953 by Prince Rainier III, which recognized the Mediterranean Sea's economic and social importance - values that still drive the club today.

Transforming a sleepy harbour into a yachting paradise continued. In 1984, under the presidency of Prince Albert II, yacht club membership grew from 800 to 2,500, with representatives from 80 nations, and investment in youth sailing programs ensured the initial sailing traditions continued.

What started out as a chic coastal retreat developed into something much more in"uential as the yachts grew larger throughout the 20th century. Monaco was among the $rst Mediterranean hubs to begin professionalizing the industry, investing in infrastructure, regulation, and services at a time when the sector was still very much in its infancy.

Port Hercules, with its deep-water berths and modern facilities, alongside a stable business environment, became the focus and attracted the world’s $rst generation of large yacht owners. Around them, an important ecosystem grew, and today, 252 companies now operate in Monaco, with yachting as their main source of revenue, including brokerage, management, legal and $nancial specialists, crew agencies, designers, and shipyard representatives.

IYC’s Monaco o%ce, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025, sits at the heart of the action. “Monaco’s strength lies in its status as the world’s benchmark of large yachting,” says IYC Consultant Julia Rocca.

With around 70% of European yacht sales taking place in the South of France, Monaco, and Italy, Monaco remains central to the market. Initiatives like Cluster Yachting Monaco, founded in 2014, further reinforce the position, uniting organizations and companies with government support while promoting the development of the yachting sector.

Rocca adds: “It provides a single hub where key industry players converge; that concentration of expertise and resources makes it the perfect base for yachting today.”

The Riviera location is unmatched, with proximity to shipyards, marinas, re$t facilities, and cruising grounds. In 2020, the Monaco Ports marina project at Cala del Forte in Ventimiglia facilitated further development to accommodate additional yachts, with easy access to Monaco’s main ports.

One of these standout events is the Monaco Yacht Show. Launched in 1991, the show reshaped the industry, and today it is the world's most prestigious yacht show. It is a place where yachting truly begins, and the entire industry gathers.

Pavia comments: “Monaco has always been the hub of yachting, known to everyone. All the biggest and best yachts are seen in Monaco and then travel the Mediterranean and the world.” Even as new and improved yachting hubs have emerged across the Mediterranean region, Monaco remains the heart of the industry and is a destination clients consistently return to.

Monaco’s appeal is about more than its yachting luxury lifestyle; it is about the principality's systems and stability. With a well-earned reputation and a solid $nancial foundation, Monaco is both trusted and respected for doing business across any sector.

Though rooted in heritage and tradition, Monaco isn’t a destination to stand still. The principality is very much future-focused on thoughtful expansion, sustainability, and innovation. One of those is the SEA Index, certi$ed by Lloyd's Register. This non-profit initiative, founded by the Yacht Club de Monaco, uses a methodology to help measure the carbon footprint of superyachts over their lifecycle, helping drive decisions that support decarbonization. The Yacht Club also runs an annual Energy Boat Challenge each summer, encouraging participants to design boats using new technologies, innovative materials, and alternative propulsion systems.

“For lunch,” Sebastijan explains, “especially when the sun is high and temperatures soar, I love to serve bu!et-style spreads focusing on fresh, seasonal ingredients—$ve, six dishes that take guests on a culinary tour of Croatia and the Mediterranean. Seasonal salads with unexpected combinations, gazpachos, carpaccios, tartares, and premium cuts of $sh and meat: each dish tells a story. 12–16 Kvarner scampi, peeled (tails only)

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Zest and juice of 1 lemon

1 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp orange juice

Salt and freshly ground white pepper

Black garlic cream: 40 g black garlic cloves, 30 ml water (or light veg stock), 20 ml olive oil, 10 ml lemon juice, pinch of salt

Optional: tiny pinch of xanthan for a $rmer texture

Caviar, to $nish

METHOD

1. Blend black garlic, water, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt until smooth; add xanthan if desired.

2. Toss scampi with olive oil, citrus juices, zest, salt, and pepper.

3. Plate scampi, add black garlic cream, and top with caviar.

We depart the harbor after a brief welcome on EVA4EVA, champagne in hand, the city’s terracotta rooftops fading behind us. By evening, we’re anchored in a quiet bay, watching the sunset re"ect o! the bow pool as dinner is prepared below. On tonight’s menu: a mix of fresh Adriatic seafood and local delicacies.

Day 2 | Mljet National Park

Mljet is a dream of jade-green lagoons and secluded coves. Morning swims lead to SeaBob adventures, paddleboarding, and kayaking from the beach club. A guided walk along saltwater lakes reveals forests untouched by time. Evenings are spent with cocktails on the sun deck Jacuzzi, the stars re"ected in the glass surfaces of the yacht around us.

Day 3 | Korčula & Marco Polo’s Hometown

MYKONOS: An Iconic Battlefield

A yachting hotspot full of vibrancy and iconic beach clubs and nightlife, Mykonos dates back way before the time of present-day parties. Legend has it that the island was the site of an epic battle between Hercules and the Giants. After defeating them, it is said that Hercules hurled their bodies into the sea, where they turned to stone - forming the rugged rocks that have shaped Mykonos’ dramatic coastline, which can be admired from the deck.

A Birthplace Of Gods

Add to this year-round cruising grounds, favorable charter rates, and longer days, and summer is a standout choice.

Captain Chris Crabaugh from 161’ (49m) DIRT POOR (for charter, page 147), one of the many IYC charter yachts based in the Caribbean during summer, explains: “Cruising the Caribbean and The Bahamas during the summer season can bring a lot of opportunity to enjoy the special moments and environments without all the extra hustle and bustle of peak season.”

Get Away From Crowds

One of summer’s biggest advantages is the space, both at anchor and ashore. With fewer yachts cruising the Caribbean and The Bahamas during these months, the regions have a more personal feel. “Beaches are less crowded, bars are less packed, and adventures are less booked, meaning more availability,” notes Captain Crabaugh.

Enjoying anchorages on your own terms naturally invites more exploration. St Vincent and the Grenadines are a particular favorite for these summer season discoveries, where yachts such as the 149’ (45m) NORMA JEAN (for sale and for charter, page 149) anchor in remote and uninhabited spots like the Tobago Cays, offering a side of the Caribbean the winter crowd rarely experience.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in The Bahamas, where shallow and secluded anchorages are aplenty. “The great thing about The Bahamas is that it o!ers nearly 365 days of cruising; there are so many hidden gems and a wide range of cruising opportunities,” adds Captain Hurn.

In these emptier waters, summer also brings favorable weather - calmer seas and gentler trade winds present a new layer of "exibility for yacht chartering. The summer conditions make it possible to venture further and enjoy activities that rely on more settled conditions, from snorkeling the reefs to kitesurfing across remote sandbars.

“The summer months are much more enjoyable with the longer days,” explains Captain Hurn. “It allows a much higher angle of the sun overhead for diving and snorkeling, and the gentle breeze makes conditions ideal for exploring more challenging and exciting locations that may be inaccessible during winter.”

Although June marks the official hurricane season, it shouldn’t deter summer cruising, with the early part of the season mostly calm. “During the summer, it can get hot and humid, which makes it the perfect time to enjoy water-based adventures,” highlights Captain Crabaugh. The BVIs are a prime example of summer cruising at its best, with noticeably quieter anchorages creating ideal conditions for paddleboarding, wakeboarding, and snorkelling. Summer

Why the crew is at the heart of every yacht, and how having the right team onboard makes all the diference.

Ayacht may have the most advanced technology, a head-turning, stylish design, and every imaginable amenity, but without a well-matched crew, it will remain just a yacht rather than a yachting experience. Speak to any experienced owner, charter guest, IYC consultant and manager, or captains, and they will all speak to the yacht crew as being the heart of a yacht.

Because behind every itinerary, perfectly timed activity, and calm anchorage, there is a professional and dedicated team working hard, bringing everything to life for those onboard. However guests spend it, time is one of today’s most valuable luxuries of all, and helping them do this in the way they wish matters more than ever.

Captain Stavros Papadakis of 184’ (56m) AELIA (for sale and for charter, page 204), highlights how the guest experience presents a responsibility to him and his crew, as he explains: “I never

lose sight of the responsibility that comes with creating perfect moments onboard, and having the right crew is what protects and elevates these.”

Such a responsibility goes much further than just the operational side of things. Operational excellence and safety are the foundation, but it's about creating personalized luxury and ever-improving the guest experience. “It is the human connection that truly defines the onboard atmosphere,” adds Captain Papadakis.

On the surface, the best yachting experiences for guests feel e!ortless, but beneath this are the fundamentals where safety, anticipation, and teamwork are key. “Safety always comes $rst,” says IYC Crew Placement Consultant Samantha Rigoli. “A well-trained, experienced crew can anticipate potential issues, respond e%ciently in emergencies, and ensure protocols are followed,” she explains.

Every crew role is intertwined, and the departments operate as one, from the bridge and deck to the interior, galley, and engine room. When this teamwork exists, any potential challenges are quickly overcome in the background, and guests remain unaware of all the moving parts the crew manages. Captain Papadakis says, “On AELIA, when the deck, interior, and engineering operate in harmony, guests feel con$dence, professionalism, and ease, even if they never see the details behind it.”

It is undeniable that, to do so, quali$cations and experience are essential, but Rigoli notes that, to place the best crew, strong soft skills are also needed. Training is important, and prior charter experience helps, but Rigoli emphasizes that the team's vibe matters just as much. She adds, “Teamwork, adaptability, communication, and staying calm under pressure can make or break life onboard. I also look for crew with the

same energy, which counts for a lot.”

For the "eet Captains, leadership is about nurturing this positive culture when created onboard. When a crew is well-matched, it results in a culture of respect, pride, and shared responsibility. Captain Papadakis notes: “When we work well together, we can deliver experiences that feel e!ortless, personal, and genuinely meaningful.”

New-Build Momentum At Moonen

The global exclusive partnership between IYC and Moonen Yachts demonstrates how early guidance and close collaboration has the ability to transform the new-build experience for both the shipyard and client.

Traditionally focused on building yachts on spec, Moonen has, with IYC's support, embraced a more client-led approach, aligning Dutch heritage craftsmanship with today’s owners' expectations. Since the partnership began in 2024, IYC has worked hand in hand with the yard to ensure every detail ful$lls modern requirements without losing the brand’s unique identity.

Early client involvement has proven transformative, with them involved at the optimal stage of build, in"uencing layouts, systems, and speci$cations. And, the results speak for themselves, in 2025 four Moonen yachts were sold - half through IYC’s in-house deals and half via third-party brokers, showing both strong collaboration and renewed global interest in the brand.

The $rst project under the partnership, the 123’ (37m) AD ADSTRA, saw IYC step in during the $nal phase of construction. Working directly with the client, the yacht was completed and ideally positioned for the charter market, with a debut planned for the Palm Beach International Boat Show 2026, fully supported by IYC’s marketing and management strategy.

Moonen’s open and transparent approach allows clients to visit the yard, meet with senior decision-makers, and experience key stages of construction. Recent design input from the prestigious design house, Vripack, further highlights a new era for the brand and its visibility.
