STATE OF THE MARKET: JANUARY JUNE 2025

Sales

Steady Brokerage Market: The global yacht market experienced a moderate slowdown in H1 2025, with 425 yachts sold totaling $3.8 billion; a 7% drop in volume year-on-year. While brokerage activity remained steady, the new build segment softened further. Inventory levels continued to rise, reinforcing buyers' market conditions and contributing to a 9% decline in brokerage asking prices compared to H1 2024.

Market Balance Shifts Toward Buyers: With 599 yachts listed and 425 sold, inventory levels remain high, creating a more competitive environment for sellers. Asking prices have aligned with 2023 levels, opening up compelling opportunities for buyers while encouraging sellers to position their yachts attractively. This combination of inventory and pricing dynamics o#ers buyers greater choice and negotiation exibility.

At A Glance

Shifting Regional Dynamics: Regional sales distribution showed a notable shift. Europe retained its lead with 52% of sales, although down from 60% in 2024, while the U.S. market grew to account for 28% of global transactions. This shift suggests a more geographically diversi"ed buyer base, with stronger demand from American clients.

Resilience in Larger Yacht Segment: Despite softer overall volumes, demand for larger yachts remained strong. Several notable 197’ (60m)+ sales con"rmed continued buyer interest in this segment, particularly when pricing is competitive. The average length of yachts sold rose to 119’ (36m) in H1 2025, highlighting sustained appetite for larger vessels.

Sales within the 131'–164' (40–50m) size range recorded a slight decrease.

REST OF YEAR OUTLOOK

Looking ahead, the strong U.S. stock market, coupled with accelerated depreciation schemes, is expected to further bolster buyer con"dence and stimulate market activity, particularly in the U.S., through the second half of 2025. However, ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty and potential regulatory changes may temper this momentum.

We’re proud to be a consistent top-three performer in the global yacht market — a re ection of the trust we've earned from yacht owners and the dedication of our teams. Our sales division is maintaining strong momentum, with steady closings and a growing number of new Central Agency signings. At the same time, our Yacht Management department continues to expand, welcoming new accounts while deepening long-standing client relationships.

IN 2025 YTD

The 2025 charter market opened on a strong footing, with solid performance during the winter season and high demand carrying through the rst quarter. However, as macroeconomic uncertainty intensi ed, momentum softened over the course of H1. While overall demand moderated in the second quarter, the market delivered a solid summer season, with charter activity gaining momentum through the peak months and reinforcing con dence as we head into the nal stretch of the year.

CHARTER MARKET TRENDS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Early Bookings in Q1 Shift to Late-Season Surge: 2025 began with strong bookings, suggesting a strong season ahead. However, macroeconomic pressures softened Q2 demand. As summer progressed, last-minute bookings rose, especially in June. The season remained healthy but with a shorter booking window than in past years.

Last-Minute Bookings & Special

O ers: Cautious client behavior in Q2 led to a rise in last-minute bookings. In turn, the market responded with more special o#ers to adapt to changing demand.

dominates 2025 charter activity with 53% of bookings, led by Greece and Croatia. Greece remains the top global charter destination, while Croatia continues gaining market share.

Growing Charter Fleet Heightens Competition: The expanding global charter eet is increasing competition among yachts. Di#erentiation is more important than ever, as more yachts in some regions are seeing fewer weeks booked per vessel.

Strong 2025 Winter Spurs Early 2026 Bookings: A strong 2025 winter season has sparked early momentum for 2026. Prime yachts and dates are already being secured by proactive clients.

First Come, Best Served

Looking

to charter the perfect yacht? Book early to secure your dream yacht, destination, and experiences before they’re gone…

Timing isn't just important; it's everything. It's the di#erence between an unforgettable yacht charter in the destination of your choice versus settling for what's left on the calendar. As charter demand increases, early booking has become a strategic advantage. The most sought-after yachts, popular destinations, and in-demand dates are spoken for months, sometimes years in advance. Early booking isn't just about peace of mind; in a market driven by reputation and loyal repeat guests, it's about securing the best, so those who act quickly bene"t.

The most obvious reason to book your yacht charter early? The choice of yacht. The earlier you start planning your charter, the more yachts are available. "Early booking means you get the widest range of yachts, and you aren't limited in terms of availability versus quality," explains Abigail Davies, IYC Charter Consultant.

Certain yachts, especially the new launches and award-winning ones such as the 172’ (52m) AKULA (for charter, page 87) and the yachts with exceptional reviews and repeat clients like the 164' (50m) AS YOU WISH (for charter, page 92) and the 100’ (31m) NOVELA (for sale and for charter, page 228), the huge toy box onboard the 121’ (37m) KOJU (for charter, page 133) or the excellent amenities that the 165’ (50m) MAVERICK (for charter, page 89) has, typically disappear from the market fast. As Agne Pavia, IYC Charter Consultant, says: "Anything new, exciting, or di#erent gets booked early; brand new yachts are always most in demand."

This applies across yacht types. As Davies notes: "There are fewer larger sailing yachts around 50 meters to choose from, so early booking is essential." A prime example is the 171’ (52m) sailing yacht REPOSADO (for sale and for charter, page 194), which regularly books out well in advance. Popularity of a particular type in destinations also comes into play, she adds: "Catamarans in the Caribbean are popular family-friendly options that typically get booked quickly." Early planning means more time to select the ideal platform that matches your group's size and budget. Group dynamics play a huge role in the selection process. Factors such as the number of guests, cabin con"gurations, and budget are crucial in narrowing down the options. Perhaps you need wheelchair access, extra space for a nanny, or multiple double suites; booking early guarantees access to yachts tailored to these needs. Family-focused yachts, such as KOJU, or social hubs like MAVERICK, with plenty of alfresco entertaining spaces for large groups of friends, are prime examples.

Early booking also allows you to personalize your experience further and specify your crew preferences. "Clients who book early can select yachts based on crew pro"les. The chef is often key, and we've had requests for a captain speaking speci"c languages," comments IYC Charter Consultant Vicky Masourou.

LOON | for CHARTER | p. 74

But timing is nuanced, as Pavia notes: "The best boats with the best crews do tend to book early, but not every yacht is immediately available. Some owners "nalize their plans later, so "nding that sweet spot is crucial." This is where IYC's knowledgeable consultants and market insights make all the di#erence, guiding clients through the ideal booking window based on the yacht and their speci"c needs.

To help clients who have exact dates in mind, IYC's RESERVE website tool is a streamlined way to lock in preferred charter dates and demonstrate commitment. "RESERVE signals seriousness and saves time gathering additional details," says Davies. "If the "rst-choice yacht isn't available on the con"rmation, we already know the client's preferences and can o#er the perfect alternative quickly," she adds. Masourou agrees: "It provides fast access to options, helping clients secure the charter without delay."

Booking early isn't just about the yacht itself, but destination and seasonality are equally critical. Popular charter destinations have an ideal window for the yachting season, characterized by optimal water and weather conditions. The Caribbean, The Bahamas, and Florida dominate popular winter charters, while the Mediterranean and the US East Coast are in full swing during the summer.

Availability for yachts like AKULA and AS YOU WISH cruising destinations in the Caribbean and The Bahamas tightens around these peak periods, especially during the holiday festivities like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. "If you want to celebrate New Year's Eve in St Barths, you must plan well ahead," advises Davies. The limited eet in these hotspots means the best yachts get secured quickly.

Owners who base yachts seasonally, for example, in Greece, Croatia, and Turkey, also tend to have charters booked far in advance. Xenia Tsipidou, Head of Charter Management for Greece, highlights this demand: “Bookings for the Greek eet are coming in strong, and the outlook for the following season is already looking very promising too for 2026.” A standout example in the Eastern Mediterranean is the highly popular 164’ (50m) OURANOS (for charter, page 93), which consistently books out year after year.

Booking ahead isn't just about availability bene"ts but also exibility. If you are looking for a less conventional itinerary, planning early gives you more options before other bookings dictate the yacht's movements and helps you avoid relocation fees. This "nancial incentive can also be seen through planning. "Early bookings can sometimes come with special o#ers," adds Tsipidou. "Owners are more willing to negotiate and o#er discounts when their calendars are still relatively open; typically, discounts vary from 10-15%," explains Masourou.

While you may have the perfect yacht in the ideal destination, a yacht charter is about more than these elements; it is about the entire experience. Early booking gives you more time to lock in your itinerary planning, from securing sought-after restaurant reservations in St. Martin, beach club access in the BVI's, and seaplane transfers in The Bahamas to arranging exclusive onshore activities. This becomes especially important when planning for o#-thebeaten-track itineraries, such as cruising onboard the 183’ (56m) GALILEO (for charter, page 77) in the Maldives.

"Guests can plan without pressure and secure the best experiences ashore when they book early," con"rms Tsipidou. This element of pre-preparation also enables your consultant to communicate detailed preferences ahead of time, so when you step aboard, everything is tailored to your group, allowing you to maximize your enjoyment.

For special occasions, such as milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or corporate events, early booking also remains essential. These types of celebrations often require additional planning, such as coordinating with external suppliers and arranging exclusive marina bookings. There are also various major events on the yachting calendar, like the Superyacht Challenge in Antigua, New Year's in St. Barth, or the St. Barth Bucket, rounding o# the Caribbean season.

Planning your yacht charter early is the smartest move you can make, ensuring you tick all the boxes to get the exact yacht at the right time in your desired destination, along with your preferred crew pro"les, amenities, and features.

Drawing from IYC’s expertise, the RESERVE function, and an over owing catalog of premium yachts for charter, being ahead makes all the di#erence. Timing is truly everything.

Growing Icons

IYC’s growing feet of fagship yachts is setting new standards in design, legacy, and client experience…

Sizehas long been a status marker in the world of yacht charter, but today, it is increasingly becoming more about the story behind each yacht and the experiences on o#er. At IYC, this philosophy has shaped a strategic and considered expansion of our portfolio, with a focus on yachts 50 meters and above. However, we aren't simply adding larger yachts; we are creating an outstanding collection with a di#erence - iconic yachts that o#er character and an experience reshaping the charter world.

In the past "ve years, IYC's 164’ (50m)+ charter fleet has experienced remarkable growth, a testament to our reputation and the trust clients place in us. IYC's CEO, Raphael Sauleau, comments: "The sustained growth of our larger yacht charter eet speaks to the trust our owners place in us and our company's ability to perform at the higher end of the charter spectrum."

Behind such growth is a dynamic and cross-departmental collaboration that de"nes the IYC approach. All teams, including Charter Management, Yacht Management, Sales, and Charter Retail, as well as our Marketing teams, work together with the owner and crews to ensure that each new addition to the eet isn't just another listing but a carefully positioned experience. Clients are drawn to us for our transparency, performance, and ability to create a tailored strategy for each yacht.

Growth in this larger category isn't solely measured by length but by a eet that re ects exciting innovation and pedigree. At the forefront, pushing boundaries, is IYC's agship, the iconic 345’ (105m) BLACK PEARL (for charter, page 64), added to the eet June 2025. Delivered in 2018 by Oceanco, this pioneering sailing yacht was built to cross oceans without burning fossil fuel, thanks to its advanced DynaRig system. Alongside the technical credentials, onboard, there are expansive entertaining spaces, a beach club-turnedevening lounge, wellness facilities, and plenty of toys to enjoy.

We build relationships founded on professionalism, capability and trust, and after a successful frst season working closely with an owner, this genuine trust forms and they know their interests are in safe, experienced hands. In this industry, as in any, you have to prove your worth, and we take such pride in doing that and delivering to this larger end of the market.

Equally groundbreaking is another from Oceanco, the award-winning 263’ (80m) BATELLO (for charter, page 66). Delivered in 2007, the motor yacht pioneered a new era of design for yachts of this size, including features that weren't typically found onboard. Today, BATELLO's bold lines, wide balconies, three-dimensional spaces, and design and technical standards continue to set the standards for design.

As the agship of IYC's motor yachts for charter, a fresh marketing strategy was created for BATELLO. Steve Bailet, IYCs Global Marketing Director, explains: "The marketing team came with a di#erent approach: reintroducing an iconic superyacht already well-known on the market, but through the eyes of those who designed her, and those who re"t her, so clients can understand the vision, heritage, and her future before they step aboard."

Another yacht bene"ting from its story being told with a fresh approach is the 243’ (74m) ATLAS (for charter, page 68), where a photography and videography campaign was created alongside a strategic marketing push. The Lürssen yacht quietly remained under the radar before IYC stepped in. Relaunched, this yacht, with its six-deck pro"le, expansive beach club, and award-winning features, is now gaining the attention it deserves thanks to its revived charter presence. "For ATLAS, it wasn't just about creating visual assets but questioning 'how do we launch such an icon?'. We did so through selling an experience rather than just a 'wow' e#ect," comments Bailet.

BATELLO | for CHARTER | p. 66

Alongside revitalizing iconic yachts, IYC continues to welcome more bold and design-driven new builds to the charter market that resonate with today's market. The reasoning behind this? For our clients to stand out and maximize charter potential. IYC Charter Consultant Agne Pavia explains: "The uniqueness of design-led builds is especially appealing to the younger generation, and they signi"cantly enhance the charter experience in a way that resonates with today's world."

Among the eet's newest arrivals is the recent winner of the 2024 Superyacht Awards, the 172' (52m) AKULA (for charter, page 87), an excellent example of a yacht prioritizing design to maximize the charter experience, particularly for leisure and entertainment purposes. Another new-build example brought to market by IYC is the 181' (55m) RAJA% (for charter, page 81), the Admiral sistership to GECO (for charter ans sale, page 195), whose sleek design and lifestyle features have seen her charter calendar "ll quickly upon launch.

One of the most striking and unique recent new build yachts is the boundary-pushing 143’ (44m) THIS IS IT from Tecnomar (for charter, page 121), which was designed for an owner introduced by IYC's Global Managing Partner, Michel Chryssicopoulous. "In today's market, to stand out, a yacht must o#er a truly distinctive design," he notes. The futuristic design and statement interiors further highlight this appetite for individualistic-style yachts. "As a company, we believe in being unique, and our new build program over the last few years demonstrates this perfectly," he adds.

Chryssicopoulous also led the acquisition of two Admiral 72 yachts from The Italian Sea Group, designed by Giorgio Armani. These fully custom yachts, with their dramatic pro"les and re"ned interiors, represent again these design-driven options to the eet. "These yachts have reinvented traditional yacht building, and we are excited to have one available for charter next year," he adds.

Not only does IYC nurture relationships in the new build market, but this relationship-building is a value that IYC has been built upon, in general. Introductions, referrals, long-term collaborations, and regional expertise all continue to play a role in our listings. The 213' (65m) ARTISAN (for charter, page 70) joined the eet through a trusted relationship with the owner, while the 195’ (59m) IDYLLIC (for sale and for charter, page 190) continues to work with IYC ahead of the arrival of their trio of new 70-metre Admiral GC-Force yachts.

Once a charter yacht joins the eet they are entrusted to our charter management team. Marie Molls, Global Director of Charter Management, notes: “We build relationships founded on professionalism, capability and trust, and after a successful "rst season working closely with an owner, this genuine trust forms and they know their interests are in safe, experienced hands.” Thanks to the previous results from Molls and her team, when new clients purchased yachts from us, many remain in our charter eet. “In this industry, as in any, you have to prove your worth, and we take such pride in doing that and delivering to this larger end of the market,” adds Molls.

After an impressive re"t overseen by IYC, the new owner, introduced via referral, of the 182’ (55m) HOLDIN' MY OWN (for charter, page 79) chose to keep the yacht within the IYC charter eet. The 164' (50m) AS YOU WISH (for charter, page 92) also joined following a similar endorsement. "Both of these yachts joined our eet through long-standing connections," says Matthew Stone, Managing Partner, IYC California. "It's the trusted relationships we build, collaborative nature, and proven performance we deliver that make owners con"dent to stay with us," he adds.

While a global operation, IYC draws from local expertise and regional o&ce strategies to enhance the eet. In Greece, the highly popular 164’ (50m) OURANOS (for charter, page 93) remains a favorite, and in Croatia, the 145’ (44m) Sanlorenzo LA LA LAND (for charter, page 115), the agship for the Adriatic, highlights yet more success of regional relationships.

RAJA2 | for CHARTER | p. 81

For today's charter clients, the expanding eet naturally means greater choice and a broader variety of experiences, each with a unique story behind it. Clients who charter with IYC have an elevated o#ering in all sizes, with more high-performance and design-driven options, thanks to the in ux of these iconic yachts.

So"a Penvern, IYC Charter Consultant, comments on sought-after o#erings: "For larger yachts, I see an increased demand for chase boats, a pool or hot tub is almost mandatory now, and a large beach club with oating docking solutions."

Even at the more compact end of this segment, yachts like LA LA LAND tick these boxes and deliver an impressive o#ering with extensive toy inventory, a beach club, and thoughtfully designed deck spaces. Pavia adds: "Clients request expansive beach clubs, hydraulic swim platforms, and stairs, bow lounging areas, and cleverly concealed water toys that preserve clean deck spaces."

With more and more 164’ (50m)+ yachts under construction, IYC continues to meet the growing demand for the yachts that matter, with pedigree, presence, and a story to tell. As Sauleau concludes: "It's the exciting designs and extraordinary charter experiences on o#er that de"ne these larger, iconic yachts, and we are proud to be growing our eet with them."

Ready To Charter? Here's How

How IYC helps yacht owners discover the full potential of their yacht through our expert charter management team.

Professional, service-driven crew with charter experience can signifcantly infuence guest satisfaction and repeat bookings. Our team ensures the yacht is prominently positioned across global platforms, social media, and key industry events, and our international broker network promotes it directly to qualifed clients.

Yachtownership o#ers endless lifestyle bene"ts, providing a home away from home that allows you to travel wherever and whenever you like in ultimate luxury. So, why not maximize your asset to its full potential? Placing a yacht with our expert charter management team can o#er a range of bene"ts beyond the lifestyle perks, ensuring you get the most out of your ownership experience.

The IYC Advantage

With over 170 yachts under management and an impressive 270% eet growth since 2015, our experienced charter management team combines the operational bene"ts of a global network with a highly personalized approach.

Each charter manager typically oversees just eight yachts, ensuring that every owner and yacht receives dedicated attention and a tailored strategy. Backed by international reach, local expertise, and strong broker connections, our collaborative model optimizes every yacht's calendar, exposure, and revenue potential, generating 34% of our bookings in-house. As Anna Granlund, IYC Head of Charter Management in Monaco, explains: "We don't simply list yachts; we position them for success."

No two yachts or owners are the same. Therefore, the onboarding process to place your yacht for charter begins with a clear and open conversation to understand your expectations, priorities, and preferences fully. "We begin by exploring why they're considering chartering," explains Granlund. "Aligning expectations from the outset, "nancially, operationally, and personally, is critical, ensuring the charter program is tailored to the owner's priorities," she adds.

Marie Molls, IYC Global Director of Charter Management, agrees: "The most important conversation is to understand the owner's expectations fully."

"There is a list of basic subjects and factors that need to be addressed before launching the yacht into the industry," explains Molls. The yacht is analyzed in terms of its layout, design, condition, and presentation. "We have very strong teams ready for action throughout both Europe and the US to accommodate the owners based and handled on a case-by-case scenario," she adds.

Charter managers assess the crew, review usage schedules, ensure regulatory readiness and compliance, and identify any necessary marketing updates. The yacht is then positioned strategically in the market, setting it up for success. Granlund notes: "It's about aligning the yacht's characteristics and availability with what today's charter clients are looking for."

The DNA Of A Charter Yacht

Success in the charter market comes from planning and honest advice. Granlund explains: "We take a transparent, consultative approach, o#ering honest insight into expected performance, potential adjustment, and whether chartering aligns with the owners' broader goals."

"The vast majority of clients prioritize yachts that are up to ten years old and have an appealing style and crew with good references," explains Molls. Once these boxes are ticked, the "ner details, such as the yacht's additional features (tenders, toys, wellness features, extra services, and entertainment factors), are addressed.

The crew also plays a vital part in the success of a charter yacht. Anna Michail, IYC Senior Charter Manager in Greece, notes: "The crew is the key to a successful charter; always invest in a full-time, welltrained team."

While some fear wear and tear when chartering, the reality is the opposite. "Guests show the utmost respect for the yacht, interior, and decks," reassures Molls. "The typical charter client today is fully aware of how to behave on board and show respect to the yacht and crew," she adds. A busy yacht is also a wellmaintained yacht; regular use keeps systems running smoothly, and chartering boosts crew morale and retention, especially when gratuities are in play.

"A charter yacht has to be in top-notch condition at all times; the better the condition, the better

the reputation, and the more charters it gains," comments Michail. "When managed thoughtfully, a charter program can help maintain high standards onboard, keep crew active and motivated, and ensure the yacht remains in excellent operational condition," adds Granlund.

Building a successful charter reputation takes time and consideration, so exibility is necessary when positioning a yacht for charter. Granlund notes: "It is important to remain open to feedback from the market. This may involve re"ning onboard o#erings, adjusting cruising plans, and being exible on pricing."

A Delicate Balance

There is a delicate balancing act in the charter world, striking the sweet spot between your lifestyle and the "nancial revenue, which requires transparency, teamwork, e#ective communication, and planning. "The most successful charter programs are built on strong teamwork and open communication between the owner, captain, charter manager, and yacht manager," advises Granlund.

The charter management team at IYC carefully coordinates a charter calendar to prioritize personal schedules while capitalizing on peak charter windows. "Charter has proven to be very e&cient to o#set all or part of operational costs," notes Molls. "We can optimize the program to achieve the highest possible income to an owner, and we can also work on a select basis, working around the availability when not being used by the owner," she adds.

The "nancial bene"ts continue if the yacht is run successfully; a well-established yacht with a positive track record can signi"cantly enhance its resale value by building a strong reputation and increasing market visibility. "Charter income can signi"cantly enhance overall cost-e&ciency over time," adds Granlund.

Entering the charter market should be done with realistic expectations. "A common misconception is expecting immediate pro"tability or a fully booked calendar from day one," notes Granlund. "It typically takes time to build momentum, especially for a newto-market yacht," she adds. IYC's data and market expertise help owners set pricing and availability to optimize both performance and exibility.

Making Your Yacht Visible

Today, standing out from the crowd is essential. IYC's in-house PR, marketing, and digital expert teams curate comprehensive, high-impact, and data-driven campaigns to connect yachts with the right clients at the right time. With 35% of bookings coming directly through the IYC website thanks to market-leading SEO performance, IYC Chief Digital O&cer Irini Sarantis explains: "Our digital growth strategy is centered on high-quality lead generation through our website, and our primary focus is on attracting users who are further along in the decision-making journey and more likely to charter."

Website features, such as the Reserve function, enable clients to view real-time availability and book instantly, streamlining the booking process. With a digital strategy focusing on user education and conversion e&ciency, Sarantis notes: "We've seen a consistent year-over-year increase in conversion rates, validating our approach and reinforcing the value of investing in strategic digital innovation."

Raphael Sauleau, IYC's CEO, concludes: "The combination of intuitive booking tools and digital discoverability means that charter yachts are now more accessible and bookable than ever before, shortening the sales funnel."

Behind The Scenes

While the visible aspects of charter management include bookings and marketing, the operational and "nancial management that occurs behind the scenes is equally important. IYC's experienced support team handles all the "ner details to make

sure each yacht is charter-ready and compliant, managing aspects such as ag state regulations, VAT requirements, insurance, and charter certi"cation.

Supporting the charter management team and services is BLUE, IYC's yacht management platform, streamlining operational oversight and management. The in-house software centralizes every part of the yacht's charter program and operations, simplifying work ows and ensuring the charter yacht is managed as e#ectively and e&ciently as possible.

Enjoy Smarter Ownership

The secret to a successful yacht charter program is "nding the right balance between commercial opportunities and personal freedom. IYC's dedicated charter management team helps you enjoy the bene"ts of ownership while knowing your asset is kept in peak condition and positioned for long-term, lasting success.

BARTHSt. Soirees To Seclusion In

Why St. Barth is the place to be for an end-of-year vacation, and how IYC's experts can curate the perfect charter for you, balancing high-energy glamour with laid-back Caribbean luxury…

Measuring

less than 10 square miles, St. Barth is small, yet it has a comparatively large impression on anyone who visits. And while many Caribbean destinations earn their reputation as a hideaway, this French Caribbean island is where people come to be seen.

A past marked by shifts in rule from France to Sweden and back, the island's rise from a sleepy "shing village to an elite playground can be traced back to the 1950s, when David Rockefeller purchased a stretch of pristine coastline at Colombier Beach. Building a luxury villa, he triggered a ripple e#ect of wealth, transforming St. Barth into the glamorous hub it is today.

Rockefeller's arrival set the tone and mindset for the island, combining Caribbean vibes with European chic, featuring luxury boutiques, worldclass dining, and white sand beaches fringed by crystal-clear waters. Nowhere is this luxury lifestyle more evident than in the main town and capital, Gustavia, where superyachts and the who's who gather, especially as the year draws to a close.

End-Of-Year Energy

"It really is unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean, and over Christmas and New Year, it's the place to be," says Julie Rocca, IYC Charter Consultant. With the New Year's Eve celebrations and impressive "reworks display standing out as one of the most in-demand charter weeks in the world, Jessica Janik, IYC Charter Consultant, adds: "The energy is electric, and the island comes alive."

Legendary parties unfold aboard some of the world's most sought-after charter yachts, from sundowners on the 243’ (74m) ATLAS (for charter, page 68), with the dance area on the upper deck and glass-bottomed jacuzzi, or throughout the vast entertaining spaces of the 162’ (49m) OCEANOS (for charter, page 99) and the 172’ (52m) AKULA (for charter, page 87), ideal for alfresco celebrations.

Getting ready for the end-of-year parties can be done in comfort aboard yachts like IYC's agship, the award-winning 263’ (80m) BATELLO (for charter, page 66), featuring a beauty salon, or the 240' (73m) LAUREL (for sale and for charter, page 72), o#ering a talented hairdresser and spa team for pre-party preparations.

While back ashore, beachfront gatherings at iconic destinations add to the buzz. However, with a destination as popular as this, and in this period, planning is crucial. "Reservations and logistics should be arranged well in advance, but it's also about leaving room for spontaneity," advises Janik. With IYC's newly opened St. Barth location, courtesy of Ideal Real Estate in a prime Gustavia spot, guests have access to expert on-island and local support, ensuring the most sought-after experiences feature on a yacht charter itinerary.

Dine, Drink, Dance

The island's dining scene is just as renowned as its celebrations; whether you opt for family-owned, "ne dining, or casual bookings, all spots blend island charm with European sophistication. As IYC Sales Consultant Leo Jordil, a St. Barth native, comments: "The quality of the culinary scene is unmatched."

Among the favorites is Bonito, known for its use of fresh island ingredients with a chic vibe. La Guerite, for beachside elegance, and L'Isola, for re"ned Italian classics, are also popular contenders in the must-book category. "Even compared to places like St. Tropez, where many of the restaurants have replicated versions, St. Barth consistently outperforms," notes Jordil.

For leisurely lunches and sundowners, the barefoot luxury options of Nikki Beach and Nao are a go-to for charter guests. A must for groups seeking a party while dining is Le Ti, an iconic cabaret-style supper club. Alternatively, Shellona is another hotspot ideal for beachfront dining, live music, and stunning sunset views over the beach.

For a more authentic experience, Jordil recommends Ti Corail at the Cul de Sac lagoon: "It's a little shack on the beach run by an ex-Chavel Blanc chef; the food is great." While the beach club headliners are not to miss, Rocca suggests balancing out an itinerary: "For those in the know, Tamarin in Saline o#ers a more local, o'eat charm." Plenty of spots throughout the island are also ideal for family groups, as Jordil notes: "For a more chilled out vibe, and perfect for families, is Le Toiny on the southern side of the island."

Back onboard, yachts like the 150’ (46m) NORMA JEAN (for charter, page 107) transform into oating beach clubs with high-tech entertainment and Sonos systems. Meanwhile, the award-winning 165’ (50m) MAVERICK (for charter, page 89) is ideal for entertaining, featuring fold-down terraces and a sundeck barbecue, perfect for a dining party on anchor.

ADIOS | for CHARTER | p. 154

After-Party Anchorages

Though Gustavia's bustling harbor is the hub during the end-of-year period, our IYC seasoned captains know how to escape the crowds for more secluded spots. "Anse de Grand Galet will always be my favorite anchorage," says Nick Battaglia, Captain of the award-winning 122’ (37m) KOJU (for charter, page 133), who has extensively cruised the island. "Thanks to KOJU's shallow draft, we can tuck into the cove and drop anchor just o# Shell Beach."

Other recommended spots include Colombier Bay, which is only accessible by boat or on foot, o#ering a more secluded location with turquoise waters and excellent snorkeling conditions. "I recommend balancing out the livelier nights with quiet days in anchorages like Colombier," adds Janik. Rocca agrees: "Embrace the island's contrast; there is a rare combination of high-glamour parties and tranquil nature beauty; make time for both."

Captain Richard Goché from OCEANOS, with St. Barth knowledge on the quieter spots, comments: "I prefer to cruise to the far southeast part of the island to Cul de Sac or Toiny Bay to enjoy the more remote side. We can sneak in close to the beaches and easily "nd an anchorage in a remote location." For private beach setups arranged by the yacht's crew, Anse de Grand Saline is an idyllic spot for enjoying beach games, picnics, barbecues, and sundowners.

Saline's and Gouverneur's beaches remain top choices, as Jordil explains: "More yachts anchor o# here thanks to their pristine beaches, great walking trails, and beautiful views." When calm on the leeward side, Jordil also recommends gaining an alternative perspective of the island within the Bay of St. Jean for a true escape. Captain Goché agrees: "Dependent on weather and wind, the anchorage in Saline and St. Jean is exceptional, with "ne white powder sand and great snorkeling."

Island Adventures Await

Alongside the partying and beach spots, St. Barth is an outdoor-lovers paradise, with plenty to do both in and out of the water. "Most don't always realize it's an incredible island for active guests," says Jordil. "There are epic hikes, amazing sur"ng and diving, and a big local community always training for triathlons," he adds.

Underwater adventures, from snorkeling to scuba diving, are never-ending thanks to St. Barths' diverse marine protected areas. On board LAUREL, the dive instructor guides guests to the best spots straight from the yacht. Yachts like NORMA JEAN, KOJU, and BATELLO have impressive toy inventories to enjoy, featuring everything from SeaBobs and eFoil boards to paddleboards. And, BATELLO's Anvera chase boat also provides the opportunity to enjoy tender safaris in search of the best secluded swimming and snorkeling spots. On dry land, a hike to Colombier Bay is a must, according to Janik: "It's tranquil, stunning, and perfect for a picnic or swim." Another spot for some excellent hiking is Ile Fourchue. Captain Battaglia says: "We always enjoy taking guests here for a hike; the nature preserve o#ers a glimpse into Caribbean nature, and the views from the top are breathtaking." Although a compact island, activities are endless, Captain Gouché notes: "To escape the crowds and for a unique activity, horseback riding to the unique Belvedere point is a must."

However, balance is everything, and relaxation is just as important, especially when unwinding at the end of a year. Those looking for a special wellness treat after a night out or a way to soothe tired muscles after exploring the island can book a recommended signature treatment at La Spa by La Mer at Le Barthelemy Hotel & Spa through our IYC consultants.

Come For Partying, Stay For Shopping

Complementing the parties, beach scenes, and activities is the long list of exclusive experiences to enjoy here. Gustavia is full of streets lined with luxury, exclusive boutiques, concept stores, and big-name global brands. The perfect blend of stores and atmosphere makes luxury shopping here intimate and relaxed.

During December, the island turns on the festive charm with the Christmas market in Gustavia's port. This local artisan market is the perfect place to browse delicate handmade crafts and jewelry and secure island souvenirs.

While art lovers should visit Space Gallery, one of the most respected contemporary galleries in the Caribbean, with a curated program of artists and exhibitions, this is a must-visit. No doubt you will discover work by an exciting new artist and a piece to add to your collection; with an exceptional selection of painting, photography and sculpture on view. If you are looking to purchase artwork, the gallery (which also has a location in Soho, NYC) o#ers a private sales and art advisory division. They also provide personal consulting for collections, whether onboard or for a property back home.

The Place To Be

With our seasoned team, a local Gustavia office, and insider access to the most exclusive charter yachts, restaurants, and anchorage sports, IYC makes enjoying an end-of-year charter, with its high-energy atmosphere and relaxed luxury, in St. Barth e#ortless.

Once you've experienced a charter in St Barth, it will likely not be the last; many return for the St Barth’s Bucket Regatta in March.

This closing end-of-season event is where some of the world's finest sailing yachts race alongside an exciting calendar of social events. Without a doubt, St. Barth is the place to be.

THE BAHAMAS

To start your

The Bahamas is a dreamlike destination, where endless shades of blue stretch across shallow sandbanks and secluded cays. This sun-soaked archipelago invites you to explore more than 700 islands and islets, each with its own natural wonders, from the vibrant coral gardens of the Exumas to the pink-sand beaches of Harbour Island. Glide through crystal-clear waters, swim with nurse sharks or pigs, and anchor in remote lagoons where the world feels far away.

Bahamian adventure

Highlights for me are the Exumas that ofer water as beautiful as Tahiti, the serene charm of the Bahamian people, and my favorite stretch from Highborne Cay down to the remote Jumentos and Ragged Islands, ofering spectacular anchorages, snorkeling, and a true sense of escape.

KEN GIBSON

One of my favorite hidden gems in The Bahamas is Pipe Cay, ideal for yachts with a shallow draft or tender. It’s one of the most perfect spots to anchor near the sand bar for a peaceful beach picnic!

The Bahamas have 720 islands, and with only 30% privately owned, that leaves over 500 to explore freely. You could do 70 week-long charters here and have a completely diferent experience each time. Show me where else in the world that’s possible.

113’ (34m) KEMOSABE | for CHARTER, page 143

Everyone talks about the Exumas, but there is so much more: Cat Island, Egg Island, Great Abaco, Spanish Wells… each with amazing beaches, weather, diving, and fshing. On my last trip, I found a secluded anchorage south of Highborne Cay: completely empty. A true hidden gem.

Mexico ofers a vibrant escape where golden coastlines meet ancient culture and the sea shimmers in every direction. Along the Pacifc shores of Baja California or the turquoise bays of the Riviera Maya, discover a world of striking contrasts: desert landscapes melting into the ocean, jungle-covered ruins overlooking quiet anchorages, and buzzing beach towns alive with music and color. Explore hidden cenotes, dive into coral-flled waters, or savor sunset tacos on deck with the scent of salt and spice in the air.

The Sea of Cortez is truly enchanting with its diverse sea life and stunning coves perfect for anchoring. This, along with anchorages along the mainland—from Puerto Vallarta, rich in local culture and Spanish architecture, to Tenacatita with its two-mile white sand beach—the town is a little-known treasure.

Many clients are surprised to learn how uncrowded, pristine and beautiful Mexico’s cruising areas are, especially along the Sea of Cortez. Mexico still ofers untouched anchorages and authentic coastal towns just waiting to be explored.

Fishing and sea life is abundant and beautiful. I have seen a huge pod of dolphins swim right up to the tender and put on a show for us. Fishing is a huge reason lots of people visit the area and it’s consistent and fun. Whales pass through during the season, it’s a unique destination and not even close to overpopulated.

Each stop reveals something new from foating villages, sacred temples, vibrant markets, to coral reefs teeming with life. With its warm, tropical waters and sense of timeless adventure, Southeast Asia ofers an experience that is both exotic and deeply soul-stirring.

Yachting in SE Asia feels like stepping into another world; no crowds, just pristine waters, wild landscapes, and the quiet charm of traditional Phinisis. It’s raw, remote, and efortlessly luxurious, where nights are lit by stars and days drift by in pure, untouched beauty. Markets In Motion

New buyers, inventory shifts, and emerging territories. Here are insider insights from IYC into what will shape the market in 2026…

Afteran unpredictable few years of post-pandemic surges, supply challenges, and geopolitical tensions, 2025 has been a year of recalibration for the yacht sales market. Looking ahead, 2026 is expected to bring normalization after a tumultuous few years, with IYC experts optimistic about the following year, o#ering plenty of opportunities for owners and new buyers.

“There was an intense turmoil after Covid, with very high demand and a lack of supply,” notes Mathilde de Ro&gnac, IYC Managing Partner, Monaco. “At the same time, the new build market was challenged by cost increases and delays. Then, a secondary slowdown hit, driven by global uncertainty. So I am optimistic the market is ready to stabilize after such a period,” she adds.

The "rst half of 2025 saw a modest slowdown in growth. IYC sold 425 yachts, indicating a 7% decline in transactions compared to the same period in 2024. However, the deceleration highlighted that it was less about a lack of interest and more about evolving buyer behavior. While the new build activity softened, partly due to extended lead times and a 16% increase in build costs, brokerage remained active.

The expanded inventory is now giving buyers even more choice, with a 10% increase in new listings in the "rst half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, and IYC accounted for 26% of all new yacht sales. Despite fewer overall transactions, average yacht size grew with sustained demand in the larger yacht segment.

“There’s quite a lot of exciting opportunities in the new build space,” says Richard Gray, Head of IYC UK Sales. “With so much new inventory on the brokerage market, I expect to see a stronger demand for pre-owned vessels that are available immediately,” he adds.

Brokerage prices have adjusted accordingly.

“The average cost of pre-owned yachts has "nally come down to 19% because supply has overtaken demand,” comments Frankie Maxwell, IYC US Sales and Charter Director. “In 2026, sellers need to be realistic about asking prices and ensure their yacht is getting the correct exposure it needs to stand out,” she explains.

With this in mind and increased buyer selectivity, selling strategies need to remain strong into the year ahead. “Time is money,” notes Maxwell. “Once you’ve decided to sell, it’s crucial to take proactive measures to make sure the yacht doesn’t linger on the market,” she adds.

One key driver of change in the global yacht market is the shifting buyer persona. The rise of younger buyers entering yachting typically views yachts not just as assets, but as an investment into lifestyle. “I foresee yachts less than 5 years old between 90-130’ performing the strongest in 2026,” predicts Maxwell.

Today, there is also an increasing demand for more eco-conscious and adventure-driven platforms. Josh Marshall, IYC Sales Consultant, explains: “Changing market dynamics are being driven by technological innovation, changing consumer preferences, and

a growing emphasis on sustainability.” With an increasing number of new builds focusing on improving eco-conscious credentials through hybrid propulsion and more sustainable material choices, this demand is only set to continue into next year and beyond.

The location where yachts are sold is also changing; geopolitics continues to in uence this, alongside the locations where they are agged and based. A standout region for development is the Middle East. “We are seeing a large number of yachts transacting and basing themselves in Dubai. With several major marina developments taking place in the Middle East, I expect to see sales and charter increase signi"cantly in this region,” Gray explains.

Meanwhile, the US market is regaining ground. “Thanks to the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ and the likely return of 100% bonus depreciation, I anticipate an increase in the percentage of American buyers, a trend we already noticed in Q1 of 2025 versus last year,” says Maxwell. In the "rst half of 2025, the US already accounted for 28% of global yacht sales, a share that re ects the piqued interest and appetite from US clients, and one that is expected to continue rising.

The changing landscape in the United States, along with this anticipated return of bonus depreciation available to US-based buyers, is expected to spur activity. Matthew Stone, Managing Partner, IYC California, explains: “We already see a strengthening demand, and if accelerated depreciation comes back, I think we will see another surge in activity as we did and saw under the last administration, because it is a great avenue for clients who have seen the charter mechanism work.” Marshall agrees: “There will be an even greater interest in 2026 as bonus depreciation potentially returns to 100%.”

On the regulatory front, upcoming IMO environmental compliance deadlines and local emissions restrictions will also likely shape purchase decisions.

Buyers are increasingly prioritizing newer, more e&cient yachts or seeking re"ts that will future-proof their vessels. Alongside strategic eco-conscious features being added to new builds to boost resale value, the charter dynamic will also continue to be a consideration.

Positioning a yacht in a successful charter programme can enhance appeal. “I believe the strong market segments will remain similar to what we have seen, but in particular, the 40m motor yacht range with high charter potential that is within a reasonable size range to operate,” adds de Ro&gnac. Yachts with large beach clubs, watersports o#erings, and extended cruising capabilities will remain popular options into 2026.

While larger yachts continue to hold appeal, demand is broadening. Gray explains: “The 60m+ segment is still performing strongly, but I expect this to atten

toward the end of the year. Following the international show season, we will likely see the 30m+ category outperform.”

For sellers in 2026, Maxwell concludes: “I recommended selecting a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and professional yacht broker.” After years of volatility, 2026 looks to be a year of opportunity for informed buyers and prepared sellers. With more yachts on the scene, adjusted pricing structures, and emerging hotspots, success will, as ever, depend on timing, preparation, and market insight.

Seat The Scene

Beach Club On ARTISAN | for CHARTER | p. 70
IYC partners with the industry's fnest to create seating that shapes moments, memories, and experiences, because the details make all the diference…

It'stypically the bold statements onboard yachts that "rst catch the eye, but it's the "ner, subtler details that shape the experience. And nowhere is that more true than in a yacht's seating areas, where onboard seats are about more than providing a place to sit.

These are the spaces that create atmosphere, encourage conversation, frame the views, and provide a base for dining and socializing. Every curve, texture, cushion, and layout within these seating areas plays a part in how you live, relax, and socialize onboard.

Today's designers and furniture specialists understand the importance, so now, beyond the simple sofa in the salon, there are loungers in pools, reading nooks on balconies, and even seating for speci"c board games. Combining exibility, comfort, and individuality, these areas are tailored to the intended use and lifestyle, creating environments where everyone feels at ease.

FLASH THE QR CODE Find out more about IYC’s partners

"It comes down to listening," explains Marnix Hoekstra, Co-Creative Director of Vripack design studio. "You need to understand how your client spends their days. Are they hosting big groups, lounging with family, or needing quieter spaces? And then there are cultural nuances - we work with Middle Eastern families, for instance, where speci"c codes around seating arrangement in uence layout decisions," he explains.

Specialist in outdoor furniture Land & See, agrees with this when design-

ing their specialist and custom-made exterior furniture. General Manager Manuel Del Colombo notes: "We "rst ask the clients how they will use the exterior space, how many guests they will have, what activities they prefer, and the seating height preference, so we can create solutions that align with their lifestyle."

Functionality comes first. As Carla Guilhem, Founder of Carla Guilhem Design, explains: "Everything must earn its place. A seat isn't just a seat; it may

conceal storage, house equipment, or transform an entire space." This mindset has led to more inventive seating arrangements. "You'll "nd seating areas everywhere - from the crow's nest, in superstructures to the bow,” notes Hoekstra. "We even created a 'people pad,' which is a dedicated oating deck purely for gathering and lounging," he adds.

Shape also plays an important role in de"ning the atmosphere, in uencing the mood and dynamics of a space.

Guilhem explains: "For more formal areas, go with structured, square and firmer seats, while rounded, softer forms suit relaxed lounges and social areas." With so many di#erent areas onboard dedicated to seating, the variability in shape and materials is crucial in today's designs.

Yachting lifestyles have become increasingly exible, with clients seeking multi-purpose spaces and seating arrangements that accommodate this. One moment, a space can be a dining room, the next it's a yoga deck or dance oor. "Lightweight, modular and convertible furniture allows for such adaptability," adds Del Colombo.

The recently refitted 182’ (55m) HOLDIN’ MY OWN (for charter, page 79) showcases this with the multifunctional and highly versatile seating areas onboard, including sun loungers, bar and table seating, perfect for both lounging and entertaining. Adaptable seating can also create oating movie theatres, such as onboard the 184' (56m) AELIA (for sale and for charter, page 191), thanks to the comfortable reclining chairs and sofas. While the 126' (39m) NAIA's (for charter, page 130) skylounge features a dining table that converts into a co#ee table, perfect for board games or evening drinks.

NAIA's owner shares: "Our main salon is a favourite space, we tested countless sofas before "nding the one. It’s perfect for a nap, reading a book, or movie night." The water-resistant armchairs in the yacht's salon also highlight the versatile nature of seating - comfort can be enjoyed both on and o# the water, while using the toys throughout the day.

It's these advancements and choices in materials that have blurred the lines between interior and exterior.

CREATE YOUR OUTDOOR LOUNGE WITH TOC TOC

Meet Toc Toc, the furniture collection that allows you to design your personal outdoor lounge area. With a wide range of customisation options and furniture pieces to choose from, such as lounge chairs, corner chairs, daybeds and tables, Toc Toc can be tailored perfectly to suit to your taste and the size of your outdoor space.

Designed by Carla Guilhem, the Toc Toc collection draws inspiration from the pristine beauty and untouched

landscapes of Toque Toque beach in Brazil. Characterised by refined elegance and timeless luxury, this exclusive collection is crafted in Germany from long-lasting materials such as teak wood and aluminium.

Discover Toc Toc for yourself at our showroom in Miami or at ‘The Lounge by IYC’ during the Monaco Yacht Show. Alternatively, you can explore the entire collection on our website at www.siebensee.com/toc-toc.

"We are seeing high-end outdoor textiles going inside as they o#er greater durability," adds Hoekstra. Guilhem comments: "The collections of exterior fabrics are now so advanced you can barely tell the di#erence, so it allows for longevity without compromising on style or elegance."

Connecting the inside spaces with the outside is a longstanding design philosophy on today's yachts. For instance, onboard the Moonen Martinique YN206 (for sale, page 218), currently under construction and ready for delivery November 2025, Vripack brought this to life by making the yacht's skylounge an extension of the deck, with details including various relaxed seating options and even a "replace. A similar sense of connection is also found on the 209’ (64m) ATOMIC (for sale, page 189), where a "repit and seating area are perfect for guests entertaining and socializing. Meanwhile, both the 164' (50m) OURANOS (for charter, page 93) and the 143’ (44m) OCEANIC 143 (for sale, page 209) o#er guests sea views from the comfort of a sofa within lounges that boast oorto-ceiling windows, blurring the exterior with the interior.

Alongside natural light, the interior lighting can also impact the atmosphere of an area. The recently re"tted AELIA included custom-designed furniture perfect for large groups to socialize, while also completely modernising and updating the interior lighting to complement the pieces.

Going beyond the yacht, today’s seating areas are also being moved ashore. "One of the most overlooked aspects of yacht furniture design is for beach setups," says Hoekstra. "You need high-quality, stable, and beautifully designed pieces, not just for the yacht but to elevate a beach day," he adds. Del Colombo agrees: "We are designing more foldable, high-quality solutions for these tiki bars and beach setups. The market demands pieces that are not just portable and stowable but also elegant and durable enough to match the yachts' onboard standard."

The standout features impress, but it's the details that enhance a yacht's experience. The ergonomics, stitching, complementary lighting, and the quality of materials are shaping how people feel onboard. "Clients don't always consciously notice these details," says Guilhem. "But when they are missing, they sense it instantly," she adds.

As Hoekstra concludes: "You can design beautiful-looking furniture, but if it doesn't sit correctly, people won't use it. And you can make the most functional piece - but if it clashes with the yacht's aesthetic, it undermines the experience." At sea, as on land, it's the details within these seating areas that set the scene and make all the di#erence.

Blueprint To Build By

What should you invest in for the best return? IYC's experts weigh in on the ultimate new build yacht, one that strikes the balance between personal enjoyment and charter appeal…

Commissioning a new yacht is the ultimate journey in personalization, and a chance to bring your yachting vision to life. While o#ering freedom, a wellplanned new build can also be a wise investment, striking a balance between personal enjoyment, charter readiness, and resale potential. But, to achieve this, building new should be approached with a dual focus, prioritizing lifestyle and long-term value. Today's most successful new build yachts are designed to re ect an owner's style while remaining appealing to future clients, thanks to their practical layouts and speci"cations.

Starting with a blank page allows you to integrate the latest technology, materials, and design philosophies. This forward-thinking approach aligns with regulations and can o#er more eco-conscious credentials; a crucial consideration for today. Drawing on expert insights, IYC's global Sales and Charter Consultants explore what makes the ultimate new xabuild yacht.

The Sweet Spot

With numerous decisions in the build process, one of the earliest and signi"cant is determining the right size and tonnage. Yachts of any length can o#er luxury, but size and volume will directly impact compliance, operations, and the onboard experience.

Around the 164' to 197' (50-60m) mark is typically a sweet spot for many seeking a balance between liveability and operational exibility, with su&cient space

to incorporate standout features without immediately encountering the complexities that larger tonnage brings.

However, this larger tonnage gives increased freedom for added features, amenities, and, of course, space. Some owners prefer staying under 500GT for exibility, while others value the space that larger platforms o#er.

But, most importantly, there is no one-size-"ts-all approach. As our experts consistently advise, size and volume should be tailored around your lifestyle. Consider how you will utilize the yacht, such as for long-distance exploration, Mediterranean-based seasonal cruising, island-hopping in the Caribbean, or a combination, and then tailor your build accordingly.

Charter-Ready By Design

The ultimate new build should be personal yet exible, and distinctive yet appealing. When it comes to the charter potential of a yacht, certain features outperform the rest in terms of guest experience and appeal.

According to our IYC Charter Consultants, some of the standout trends include balanced indoor-outdoor living, convertible cabins, versatile spaces, and a variety of wellness and leisure amenities.

"Huge oor-to-ceiling windows to let in lots of light, convertible cabins for exibility, and above all, a huge beach club. It's one of the most requested spaces onboard," says Alice Newnham, IYC Charter Consultant.

Beach clubs are no longer optional; they are essential, o#ering water access, bars, wellness areas, and a luxurious ambiance. Matthew Stone, IYC Managing Partner, California, adds: "Beach clubs are vital to the commercial success of a yacht; most people spend the majority of their time onboard in these areas."

Higher up, the sundeck is equally desirable. “A sundeck needs to be open, adaptable, and welcoming," notes Katie Stevens, IYC Charter Manager. "There should be cohesive seating so everyone can enjoy the space together and the ability to transform the deck into other spaces, like an alfresco cinema," she adds.

Features like winter gardens, drop-down balconies, sliding doors, and extensive glass further blend indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the liveability and keeping yachts within tonnage limits. "I always receive such great feedback from drop-down balconies," adds Newnham. Kathryn Krauss, Charter Consultant, notes: "Including these elements that bring the outside in, and vice versa, is a huge plus."

Social spaces are a top priority, with an emphasis on thoughtful design that enhances the overall experience. Full-service bars with ice makers on every deck are increasingly expected, creating hubs for entertaining. “A Jacuzzi with a bar area where everyone can sit around together is something that should be included, as it enhances the atmosphere," adds Krauss. Dining spaces should also comfortably seat at least the yacht's maximum guest capacity, ideally with additional room.

Wellness features such as fully equipped gyms and spa spaces are non-negotiables. For smaller yachts, a convertible wellness space is necessary. Pools, Jacuzzis, and dual-temperature plunge pools are also welcome additions. Heather Hatcher, IYC Charter Consultant, notes that the addition of retractable pools, with adjustable depths and sizes, can transform a space.

Interior design and layout also play a role. Alongside a multi-functional space outside, convertible cabins help improve the yacht's exibility, and a second master suite could be a worthwhile consideration for the charter market. For en-suites, Hatcher adds: "Having a shower and a bathtub, especially in the master, and his and her bathrooms are a big selling point."

The Unseen Essentials

Behind the scenes, technical considerations are crucial; having the right systems onboard can make all the di#erence. Zero speed stabilizers, noise insulation, and air conditioning throughout are paramount for comfort and charter appeal, with most clients requesting them. Highspeed connectivity and smart entertainment systems are also expected.

For layouts, accessibility should be factored in to support inclusive guest lists. "You should have an elevator and walk-around decks wide enough for wheelchairs," comments Frankie Maxwell, US Sales and Charter Director. "It helps the audience when you resell - a family member, friend, or charter guest may have mobility needs, so it's a smart addition to the perfect yacht," she adds. Similar to this, and for accessibility, which is an often-overlooked feature, Stevens says: "A nice, sturdy passerelle that is quick and easy to use is important to consider." Water access also matters; submersible stairs and hydraulic platforms can help guests of all ages.

Other thoughtful inclusions include child-proo"ng features, such as shaded play areas and the quick deployment of barriers that are not only safe but also aesthetically pleasing. For families or larger groups, an additional cabin is recommended for a nanny, security personnel, or specialist crew. Alongside children, depending on your needs, it may also be helpful to

include pet-friendly areas on your decks and interior for those who want to bring along furry friends.

A well-thought-out yacht arrangement also keeps visual clutter to a minimum; therefore, storage is key, especially for tenders and water toys. "Having ample garage and storage space so the toys can be taken out of view and the decks can be cleared is a huge bene"t," adds Newnham. "Chase boats are a must-have for charter, and lots of garage space is ideal," agrees Hatcher.

Keep It Personal

Commercial viability is important, but a new build yacht shouldn't come at the expense of personal enjoyment. Ask yourself questions early in the design process. Would a private owner's deck add to your experience? Do you plan on working onboard? If so, would there be a need for an o&ce or a library? Do you entertain frequently? Then prioritize areas for socialising and exible guest use for all occasions. Love certain watersports? Have dedicated garage space and equipment to accommodate, such as a small diving centre onboard. Whatever is important to you, make sure it's included.

Smart technology can also tailor operations to your needs. Features such as custom lighting, advanced climate control, entertainment, and sound systems can all be programmed, adaptable, and upgradable for whoever is onboard.

EVA4EVA | for CHARTER | p. 113
EVA4EVA | for CHARTER | p. 113

Operationally Sound And Crew Optimized

Often overlooked in early-stage planning, but critical nonetheless, are the crew, operations, and practicalities of a new build. Our charter consultants advise that a highly successful charter yacht includes dedicated and well-sized crew quarters with Captains' cabins on the bridge deck. Stevens notes: "It's not just about comfort but keeping good crew long term, and when the crew are happy, service is naturally better."

Service areas and the galley are often overlooked. Maxwell explains that it is essential to have a large galley with su&cient storage and refrigeration space, as well as comprehensive waste management systems. Additionally, as well as full-service bars on every deck level, this should be complemented by service pantries to ensure e&ciency.

Compliance and regulation are another consideration. Over 500GT yachts face stricter mandates, and for explorer-style yachts, lower emissions are becoming increasingly crucial in sensitive hotspots. Leo Jordil, Sales Consultant, comments: "Regulations and emission controls for certain cruising areas will become even more relevant." Helipads are an interesting factor that IYC consultants advise considering carefully. While touch-and-go operations can be bene"cial, Stone explains: "Lots of yachts have a touch and go helipad, but it is important to ensure this is commercially endorsed."

RAJA2

The Long-Term View

The resale-ready new build yachts are those built with exibility, timeless designs, and upgradeable systems in mind. Stone explains: "There's a paradigm shift - people are moving from designing for looks. Now they want practical, functional, serviceable yachts that live well."

A new build design should also anticipate technological evolution, such as upgradeable AV and navigation systems, as well as eco-conscious materials, to futureproof a project. In addition to hybrid propulsion, Maxwell explains that it could be an advantage to include "reproof toy cabinets - especially those that use lithium-ion batteries - onboard, as many insurers are now requiring these as a standard.

Jordil notes: "The rise of AI will have a huge impact on the design of new build yachts. We'll see more advanced renderings, and boundary-pushing tools." With the increasing use of AI in automation, the design of bridges may undergo signi"cant changes in the future. Alongside this, Maxwell emphasizes that an increase in security and anti-hacking systems are now even more critical.

Your Ideal Blueprint

Based on your goals for a new build yacht, there are numerous avenues to explore. If personal enjoyment is a priority, with some charter use, focus on exibility with key lifestyle features. For strong charter returns, standout amenities are essential. For a smaller, more manageable platform, selective features can be enhanced by a more strategic layout.

Your choices today shape your experience and the yacht's commercial success. It's not just about size or looks; success comes from aligning the yacht with your lifestyle through thoughtful planning and forward-thinking features. With expert IYC guidance, your ideal yacht can truly be built to your blueprint of perfection.
