PRS for Music has been a proud sponsor of The Ivors since its inception in 1956 and is pleased to continue our support of the Most Performed Work Award and Icon Award, celebrating the UK’s most influential talents.

An Ivor Novello Award is recognised around the world as a symbol of outstanding songwriting and composing talent. Therefore, it is particularly inspiring to see that over half of this year’s nominees are receiving a nomination for the very first time. The future success of our industry relies upon the next generation of music creators having the opportunity and freedom to express themselves, pushing the boundaries of what is possible, as so many before them have done.

Today’s songwriters and composers work in a world which would have been entirely unimaginable when Ivor Novello himself began writing. New technologies may fundamentally change the way in which music is created, where algorithms have the ability to write lyrics and melody. Although, as is very visible across all the works nominated today, it has always been true that music written from the heart speaks loudest.

Whatever the future holds, PRS for Music will be there to support music creators throughout their careers. Last year we collected record revenues, £964 million, and paid out £836 million in royalties, more than ever before. It is a testament to the incredible talents of PRS members, including those nominated today.
