Externally the natural world is imagined as threatening, not beautiful and calm. In this way it is more realistic. It imagines the universe as dark, as black, as a void - which it is. Within the dark there are only points of light. In this way it runs counter to Modernism. It provides an answer to the concerns of sustainability in that it imagines a world requiring little or no energy. What energy is required for light is minimal, particular, and directed. Since light is limited, surface, texture, and detail are paramount.

Gothic has always gone beneath the veneer of civilization.

It deals with unacknowledged subliminal fears underlying common experience. It recognizes the animal that lurks in the human with its intimidation, and violence towards the fragile, vulnerable.

This leads to the construction of architectural objects using real materials at full size. Staring with tests of 1:1 part of details, developing in larger scale and documenting the process through the means of photography under specific light conditions so only certain aspects of the model are exposed.

Es Vedra Immersion Therapy

Proposal: Hybrid space - semi-organic, semi-mechanical, semi-digital.

Narrative structure: The aim of this proposal is to articulate the intersection of three main spheres in our society - technology, psyhology, environmental developments.

Spaces: Environments with different intensities and themes. Start is intense and the end is mild with the exit at mythical Es Vedra.

Therapy: VR immersive technique is a form of aversion therapy eventually conditioning participants to become severely ill at the mere thought of social media.

This project explores architecture at a different angle seen as the interface between technology and our bodies and how technological landscapes shapes our own obsessions.

Modern technology are reaching into our dreams and change the way we are looking at things and perceiving reality. More and more it is drawing us from contemplating ourselves to contemplating its world. Soon VR would celebrate the marriage of physical aspects of ourselves to the imaginative technological aspects of our lives. This project explores the boundaries of real and imaginative aspects of a future digital environment.
