Kopchick Hall: Where Discovery Takes Flight

A Grand Entrance

A building as awe-inspiring as Kopchick Hall deserves an entrance just as amazing. The glass exterior will give passersby in the Oak Grove a peek into the amazing things happening there and invite them in to see it all. When students and faculty enter through the front doors, they’ll be immersed in a community of scientific activity that shines brightest when it’s shared. Curiosity, after all, is the starting point for exploration and discovery, and we want to give students and faculty a place where curiosity is fostered by a facility that offers no boundaries or limitations. The main lobby will be a starting point for all exploration, where curious minds will gather to ask the big questions that lead to the big discoveries that will change the world.

Where Research Happens

Scanning Electron Microscope: A real-time digital window to what’s happening in our labs, viewable in the Lower Commons area. Students passing by can see science in action.

Tim and Deb Cejka Planetarium: Students and faculty will explore everything from earth’s subatomic particles to the outer reaches of our galaxy.

Rooms to Grow

“Our vision for the college is ‘We change lives through science and math.’ We don’t do it alone.

IUP alumni like John and Char Kopchick, Tim and Deb Cejka, and Bill and Audrey Madia are helping make sure Kopchick Hall will change the lives of students for generations to come.”

—Steve Hovan, Dean, Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
