UNION UPDATE Brothers and Sisters, Thanks to the support of our members, 2022 looks to be another promising year for IUOE Local 877. We have continued our prosperity with solid contract negotiations, strong communications, and growing recruitment efforts. With Earth Day just last month, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the incredible, sustainable partnerships Local 877 fostered. For example, 877 partners, Vicinity Energy and Ecomaine, continue to generate sustainable, clean energy for their communities using industry-leading methods. We are grateful for our relationships with these companies and are hoping to develop even more similar partnerships for the benefit of all.

I want to thank our bargaining committee for their dedication to researching and negotiating contracts to

Local 877 has also made recruitment efforts a priority in 2022. We hope to make becoming a union operating engineer—with secured competitive, familysustaining wages and benefits—accessible for all. We have launched the Build Your Life-Long Career Campaign, consisting of a webpage, print, and digital advertisements, with much more to come. Due to the hard work of our bargaining committee, we have recently been able to ratify a contract with Harvard University. This five-year-long settlement is a major win for our members and a great economic opportunity for our local.

Recent WORK Won Winning work for our members is one of our local’s top priorities, and we’ve been making progress ratifying union contracts for important projects across New England. These contracts benefit not only our members but also our communities. We set the standard for highly skilled, well-paid work by investing in ethical labor. As your union, we will continue to negotiate and ratify contracts to provide you with quality work opportunities and the benefits you deserve.
