THE STORY OF THE MAGIC BOX

The story of the Magic Box begun with the online meeting of the members of the project.

We, the teachers, were very happy about the online meeting. The same were the kids when they met their partners..

At the first meeting we had established through democratic participation the methods that will be used to touch all the objectives of the project. We also believed that every teacher should be creative when choosing the materials of each activity. Like that every classroom had new ideas and different way of manifesting their own imagination and creativity in touching the same objectives.

Each week had a theme and every partner prepared it’s own activity related with the theme. The materials we used were taken off from the Magic Box who brought the surprises. The kids were very enthusiastic on discovering the new surprises from the Magic Box. All the partners prepared a video with each of the activity and we shared them weekly on the platform of the etwinning project. Like this, all of us, teachers and kids were able to see the progress of the project and the work of our partners. We shared our joy and appreciation and we become friends.

We also had a great constant collaboration, we shared many working tasks and we helped each other on using different online tools like camtasia video editor, viva video editor, toontastick app, www.storyjumper.com, www.voki.com, www.jigsawplanet.com, www.triciderer.com, www.youtube.com, www.wordart.com, www.etwinning.com etc.

All the online tools helped us to make logo contest, poster contest, an online book, mini videos for learning, online puzzles with each partner activities, official site of the project, videos with each activity we shared with all the partners.

We had an interactive and democratic collaboration and we voted new ideas on the development of the project like a Magic Box travelling from each partner, bringing new surprises and the mascot of each classroom of kids to another partner classroom.

MASKOT ACTIVITY

The project partners continued their communication and cooperation throughout the project. All partners presented their ideas and decided on all events together. The partners talked about the mascot activity. It was exciting, everyone wanted to join. We asked the children and they wanted so much. We matched the With Web 2.0 tool. We sent gifts to our partners through mascots from the Magic Box.

Aims/ Objectives pursued: 1. Making a class mascot with children, from reusable materials.

2. Decreasing the Romanian-Turkish communication distance through cultural and practical exchange.

Before the end - about the main objective of the project ...

The main objective of the project was practicing democratic participation. This is why at the first online meeting that we had we established, by democratic choices, the activities of the project.

To expose the democratic participation every partner came out with different ideas of improving the quality of the educational effect of the project on students like proposing the online puzzles made up of the products of each activity, the idea of editing a storyjumper book with the online puzzles, the exchange of the mascots to each classroom of students, the final e-book in which we brought together all the activities we had developed on the project, the idea of the exhibition of the Magic Box in order to make public the wonderful results that came out from the project.

Another wonderful example of democratic participation was the selection of the teams which were made by kids and the selection of the materials that arose from the Magic Box in order to accomplish the tasks that they had received. Every team was build up by democratic choices and all the products of the teams were also a result of the democratic choices of the materials.

What we have learned:  we learned to be responsible because every activity was accomplished with the support of the partners;  kids were able to socialize easier and they had developed the critical thinking;  kids had developed their imagination and their creativity;  we proved we can cross the language barriers in order to cooperate by involving the parents and the manager in the voting and evaluating process of the project;

 we proved that we can be responsible citizens by publishing the educational activities in the local newspaper.

When the Magic Box finished her gifts Into a big wonderful exhibition she shift.
