Special Instructions for the CIEE Online Application Read these instructions before continuing with your CIEE application.

Completing the Application You must submit ALL of the application materials listed in your CIEE online application checklist. Here are some hints for completing the sections below Academic Information • If you cannot find your specific major/minor, select the one that is most similar. Home School Nomination • Please note: * indicates programs that are co-sponsored as single-site options only and may not be included as sites in the Open Campus multi-site model. IU supports its students on single-site, semester co-sponsored programs through standard billing and academic arrangements between IU and the program provider. Consequently, the CIEE Open Campus multi-site academic and billing model can only be accommodated through Non-IU Program procedures. For more information, see: https://overseas.iu.edu/programs/non-iu/index.html. Academic or Language Evaluation • Submit requests for recommendations through your IU Education Abroad iAbroad application. o IU Education Abroad will forward them to CIEE on your behalf after you have been approved by the IU faculty selection committee. • For certain programs, the CIEE application will prompt you to enter a faculty member’s email to complete an evaluation. Please enter (XXX) INSTEAD of your faculty member and submit requests for recommendation through your IU Education Abroad iAbroad application. IU Education Abroad will collect the evaluations directly from you and will forward them to CIEE on your behalf after you have been approved by the IU review committee. Passport Information • “Passport – Color Scan” and “Passport – Photo & Details” are not required for all programs but a few require that these tasks be completed in order to submit your CIEE application. If you have recently applied for a new passport or must renew your passport, you must return to the application and provide this information to CIEE when your new passport arrives. Given significant passport processing delays, let CIEE know if you have (re)applied for your passport. This timeline may affect your ability to obtain a visa, if required. Personal Statement • All applicants must submit a personal statement to IU through your iAbroad application. If it is listed among the required items in your CIEE application, please upload the same document, even if it exceeds the CIEE word limit. Transcripts CIEE programs require an official transcript from each institution you have attended. •

If the “Official Transcript(s)” task is listed in your CIEE application, you must request an official Page 1 of 2

transcript from the IU Office of the Registrar and have it sent directly to CIEE at the address provided in their instructions. You must also request official transcripts from other institutions you have attended – including summer courses taken at another university or community college. (Courses taken at other IU campuses are already included in your official IU transcript.) •

For all other CIEE programs, you will see a “Transcript(s)” task in your application, where you can upload electronic versions of an official or unofficial transcript. To acquire an unofficial IU transcript, log into the Administrative Center of https://one.iu.edu. Click the Academics 2 tab, and then View My Unofficial Transcript toward the bottom of the page. Select the Report Type Unofficial/Cur Enrl/All Career and click View Report. Save the document as an Adobe PDF and upload it to your CIEE application. This process varies by computer and by browser but is generally listed as a printer option. “File > Save As” does not produce a legible document. If you have trouble with this step, contact IU Education Abroad at overseas@iu.edu.

You must also upload unofficial transcripts from any other institution you have attended. If a school does not offer unofficial transcripts, you should request that an official transcript be sent directly to you; then you may scan and upload it to your CIEE application.
