University of Cape Town Application Instructions The University of Cape Town (UCT) application process will be completed online directly through UCT. Included in this document are CIEE-specific UCT application instructions to complete your application. Please make sure to read through this thoroughly, as it will aid you in the successful completion of your application. You can find the UCT Online Application here: https://applyonline.uct.ac.za/

When you complete your UCT application, be prepared to supply: Preliminary Course Selection • You will be asked to provide a preliminary selection of the courses you wish to enroll in at UCT. The courses you select will be reviewed by UCT department heads and considered alongside your transcript in deciding to grant pre-approval for these courses. Students can make changes to their course selection after beginning at UCT during a short add/drop period, however the add/drop period is very short and often stressful. • It is best to enter 4 courses on the UCT application. This is the maximum number of courses you can select. Please note, even if all (4) courses are pre-approved, you must ensure that their combined total credit value does not exceed CIEE requirements. • For a link to course handbooks (catalogue) and further UCT course information, please see the UCT Course Information Guide. Please note, course codes are indicative of specific term offerings; not all courses are available to semester study abroad students. • Write down the courses you list on your application. You will not be able to access these after you submit your application. Unofficial Transcript • Be prepared to submit a clear, high quality unofficial transcript to the UCT application. • This is in addition to the official electronic (preferred) or hardcopy transcript you send to UCT. Once you have completed the UCT Application, you will receive an auto-generated email saying ‘Thank You for applying to UCT’. Please take a screenshot of this email and upload it to the ‘UCT Online Application Confirmation’ task in your CIEE My Account.
