Momentum Journey of Growth and Trip to Israel

Momentum’s flagship program, Journey of Growth, invites Jewish mothers from all over the world on a lifechanging experience that starts right at home with a cohort of like-minded women seeking to strengthen their Jewish identities.

Then, profound 7-day trip to Israel, in partnership with the Israeli Government, offers a deep and historic connection, inspiring Jewish wisdom from world-class Jewish educators, and the opportunity to build bridges directly with Israelis.

Participants return from their trip with renewed purpose, a strong sense of Jewish self, and the ability to inspire change in their families and communities. Once at home, our Partner Organizations lead and inspire the local cohorts with continued education.

Working in partnership with:

In a

most

difficult year, Momentum trips to Israel remained a priority

In 2024, MOMENTUM RENEWED OUR FOCUS ON GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS AND TRIPS TO ISRAEL AND BROUGHT TOGETHER:

1000+

PARTICIPANTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH 61+

PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS FROM 16 COUNTRIES: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, France, Israel, Latvia, Mexico, Panama, Russia, South Africa, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay

A Oneof-a-kind Multinational Experience

In May 2024, Momentum launched our most culturally and linguistically diverse trips in our organization’s history. We brought together 160 participants from 9 countries, and none of them spoke English.

Jewish mothers from France, Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia came together to embrace Israel, embark on a spiritual journey and find their voice and strength to take back home. In a particularly poignant moment after visiting the Gaza envelope, a group of Ukrainian women visited with a farmer from the south who had adopted 3 children orphaned on October 7. They collected the little money they had to share with this family and said, “This is from our children to yours,” they said. “We know what war can do.”

During this powerful journey, participants connected with Israelis impacted by the war, honored those who fell on October 7, meet with members of the Israeli Defense Force, and heard from VIP speakers, government officials, and families of the hostages. These special missions also offer daily education and reflection tied to Jewish wisdom with participants learning practical tools and sharing insights on how to support Israel and take action

TOGETHER WE ARE EMPOWERING COMMUNAL LEADERSHIP

Leadership Development

The Momentum Fellowship was introduced in 2023 as an extraordinary opportunity to cultivate communal leadership and empower Jewish women to lead, focusing on the most relevant and important issues facing our Jewish world and the local communities of our partner organizations.

Our Leadership Summits are three powerful days for Momentum Fellows to join with their community cohort groups, gaining practical leadership skills from world-class Jewish educators and networking with other cohorts from around the world. Fellows participate in tailored workshops and activities focused on foundational communal leadership skills.

Attending the Momentum Fellowship summit this past week in San Jose, CA was a transformative experience, solidifying my belief in the power of communal leadership, particularly the unique role women play in building and strengthening our Jewish communities.”

Taking Action for Israel at Home and Abroad

Alissa Haroush didn’t grow up with a deep connection to Israel. My first visit was in high school, where I met my husband. I loved Israel because he did. But it wasn’t until I joined Momentum’s Journey of Growth in 2021 that I truly saw Israel—for myself.

That trip changed everything. I returned as a madricha, a Momentum Fellow, and part of a powerful sisterhood. When October 7 shattered Israel, I turned to that sisterhood. In hours, we raised $10,000 to send 500 phone chargers to

Momentum showed me that one person can change the world. Together, we are proving it.
— Alissa Haroush, San Diego, California

soldiers. My husband flew to Israel with suitcases of supplies. We did what we could—because that’s what Momentum teaches: when you give with love, you create impact.

I carried that lesson home, donating proceeds from my jewelry business and co-founding Meet Me Where You’re At, a thriving women’s group built on learning, connection, and giving.

Back in Israel, I saw a country in crisis—but I also saw resilience. People sipping coffee, children playing, life refusing to be dimmed. Am Yisrael Chai

Standing Up Against Antisemitism in Northern California

When October 7 happened, Bari Goldfarb painfully realized that the local chapter of the national non-profit she worked for in Silicon Valley did not, and would not, take a stand against the horrible violence and events against Jews. When she voiced her concerns, she was brushed off by her managers and peers.

Although an incredibly hard decision to make, and not the most popular decision among her peers, Bari immediately resigned from her position at the organization. Bari found support and a new sense of community with the Peninsula JCC in San Jose, CA, along with a space to process her loss and grief,

Along with her peers, she was introduced to the Momentum Fellowship, where she attended the Leadership Summit with a powerful cohort of like-minded women.

Although

we’re still very much in the brainstorming phase our group discusses at length ways we can combat antisemitism in our own community. The Momentum Fellowship demonstrated how we can apply Jewish values to the business world in a very analytical and professional way. This experience has reinvigorated our strength to advocate for ourselves and our Jewish community.”

Momentum in Israel

One of our highest priorities –and key organizational goals – is engaging with Israel. Our emphasis in Israel programming focuses on the Momentum Journey of Growth, Leadership and Alumni Engagement, and uplifting and supporting Israeli society.

Uniting mothers from various backgrounds around the world serves as a powerful catalyst for healing and fostering resilience within Israeli communities. No less than 4 Israeli mothers join every Momentum trip to Israel not just to bring the unique Israeli perspective to the journey, but also to learn, connect, and experience their own homeland from a global viewpoint.
