Following our pause of trips in 2020, we faced enormous demand for our Momentum Year-Long Journey. With happy tears and warm embraces, we triumphantly returned to Israel with hundreds of Jewish women and men from across the world – including Healthcare Heroes and Mothers of Lone Soldiers. Momentum was one of only a few organizations granted permission to resume our trips to Israel. Mothers and fathers who had been confined to their homes for months arrived with a renewed desire for meaning and purpose, ready to immerse themselves in Jewish values and their Jewish homeland. While resuming our Momentum Year-Long Journey was the greatest miracle of 2021, it was only a small piece of what we accomplished this year. We also launched Momentum Retreats, meeting our communities closer to home! On these three-day getaways, we invited Jewish women and men to nourish their minds, souls, and bodies in breathtaking settings. Every participant received the Momentum Gratitude Journal, a beautiful keepsake that guides readers through a journey of mindfulness, thankfulness, and spiritual selfdiscovery. In 2021, we embraced the best that virtual programs can offer, bringing thousands of Jewish individuals together and making Jewish wisdom more widely accessible for all! We launched Momentum Circles, intimate virtual and in-person learning groups designed to expand our community’s knowledge of all things Jewish. Our educational resources for Passover, Yom HaShoah, and Rosh Hashanah gave families fun and enriching guides to spark thoughtful conversations with individuals of all

Momentum Boosts, our dynamic weekly webinars, featured inspiring discussions with top Jewish educators and experts about topics that hit close to home and gave viewers advice and insights to live more fulfilling Jewish lives. In a year when Jewish families set out to find their footing amid uncertainty, we saw how much they relied on Momentum. Our epic crowdfunding campaign raised more funds than ever before – surpassing our goal of one million dollars and showing us that our work means everything to our community. To Momentum, 2021 will always be our year of miracles – when we made the impossible possible, when we gave our community a retreat from trauma and a re-entry to the miracles that life can provide. Thank you for helping us empower Jewish mothers and fathers to discover their passion for Jewish values. Thank you for helping us revitalize their lives, their families, and their communities. An author, educator, and sought-after international speaker, Lori has served as Founding Director of Momentum since 2009. Hadassah named her one of the “Most Outstanding Jewish American Women of Our Time.” In 2020, Lori was selected to light the “Diaspora” torch at the national ceremony for Israel’s 72nd Independence Day.

An entrepreneurial philanthropist, Manette and her husband, Louis, express their values of foundational Judaism, connectedness of all Jews, and collective effort through the Mayberg Foundation. In addition to Momentum, Manette’s passions are the Foundation’s operating programs, Jewish Education Innovation Challenge and MyZuzah.
A lawyer by training, Jeanie is a Jewish community activist. She has held multiple leadership positions in the Jewish world and continues to devote her time to numerous boards and entrepreneurial endeavors.

A passionate supporter of Momentum, Jewish education, and Israel, Jeff has partnered with AISH LA’s JMI division and Momentum to lead over 120 Jewish men on trips to Israel. He is a devoted advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Momentum, reimagined Due to the foresight of Momentum’s leadership – lay, donor, and professional – Momentum was poised to pivot well before the pandemic. We stepped in and stepped up with high-impact, multifaceted, and immersive experiences that have met the needs of our community – and that resonate with Jewish parents everywhere. At Momentum, there is truly something for everyone – and a way to soak up Jewish wisdom – whether at home, on the go, or ready to dive into a trip or retreat. Momentum is a home where we invite Jewish individuals to explore each room and get comfortable.

Momentum Journeys Creating Lasting Moments of Impact In 2021, our flagship program, the MOMentum Year-Long Journey, returned, along with MoMENtum Men’s Trips. Momentum Journeys also expanded in 2021 to include local, immersive, three-day retreats. On Momentum Journeys, Jewish individuals explore their spirituality through learning, dance, and song while experiencing a sense of unity alongside others from across the globe.

Momentum Living Creating Moments of Inspiration Momentum Living, our central home for multimedia content, provides a wide selection of original videos, podcasts, and articles that elevate the everyday. In 2021, as our community navigated a changing and uncertain world, Momentum Living provided inspiration, motivation, and a vital lifeline to Jewish life - whenever and wherever it was needed.
Momentum Learning Creating Space to Learn and Grow Momentum Learning offers educational programming and resources that invite our community to dive deeper, expanding their Jewish knowledge and guiding their continued growth. Holiday resources, cohort learning opportunities, thoughtful publications, and more foster a personal connection to all things Jewish.

trips are back! MIRACLES AWAITED US ON OUR 2021 MOMENTUM YEAR-LONG JOURNEY At every turn, Momentum experienced small miracles in getting our groups into Israel. From specially-issued permits, to PCR tests and blood work upon arrival, to following ever-changing requirements for entry amid a series of pandemic surges, Momentum witnessed a modern-day miracle: We got everyone in and out without a single case during any of our trips. It was a miracle that our participants were able to enter Israel in 2021 – and our trips were more powerful than ever!

After a year on pause, we were thrilled to return to Israel! Since 2009, thousands of Jewish individuals from across the world have experienced the Momentum Year-Long Journey – and, in 2021, we welcomed over 550 additional Jewish mothers and fathers.

Israel Travel Alliance Momentum became a leading voice of the ITA (a collective of Israel immersive experience organizations), leading the way in how to safely run trips during the pandemic.
I know that people say this all the time, but my MOMentum Trip was a transformational experience for me. I was there during Shabbat with 500 women at the Western Wall. The sun was setting, we’d lit the candles, and we were singing and dancing, and I realized, I can’t communicate with some of these people because we speak different languages and yet, we all know the same songs. Israel, we’re home! After more than a year in isolation, at a time when international travel was still unattainable for many, we welcomed a new cohort of Momentum sisters to Israel with happy tears, celebrations, and lots of media attention! Momentum was one of a select group of organizations allowed to return to Israel. This amazing group – which included Healthcare Heroes and Mothers of Lone Soldiers – stepped off the plane in Tel Aviv to a welcoming from Israeli news outlets who were thrilled to report on our triumphant return.
The first tourist flight from Newark landed at Ben Gurion Airport, with 140 Jewish women from Canada and the United States. They came to Israel to participate in a delegation with Momentum.

spotlight on specialty trips Returning to Israel filled us with gratitude, and there was no better way to say thank you than to bring several special groups of mothers to Israel in 2021.
Healthcare Heroes One amazing group of women put their own health and safety at risk to provide life-saving care when their communities needed it most. The MOMentum Trip for Healthcare Heroes is our way of saying thank you – and of taking care of them in return. During this unique journey, they healed their souls, connected with colleagues, and found new inspiration for their families, friends, patients, and communities.

The trip featured visits with successful Israeli startups, United Hatzalah first responders, and medical professionals at Sheba Medical Center. Each woman was introduced to her Israeli “twin” – a healthcare worker in Israel who shared her occupation or specialty. The conversations quickly grew emotional as they recounted stories from their time on the front lines, and shared strategies for processing, healing, and re-energizing for the work still ahead.
Momentum Grand An exclusive, non-subsidized, transformational, spiritual, and uplifting journey, Momentum Grand brought together women who wanted to invest in themselves and to participate in building the Momentum movement. Together, they forged a sisterhood with accomplished, philanthropic women from all over the globe while learning with dynamic, world-class educators, and experiencing Israel in a whole new way.

Participants experienced intimate meetings with high-ranking women soldiers from the IDF and Momentum’s Israel Public Council, behind-thescenes tours of Israel’s stunning sites, a private visit to a winery, an exclusive boat ride on the Dead Sea, and fascinating classes while enjoying luxury accommodations and the best of Israeli cuisine.
WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
When Lone Soldiers move to Israel to serve in the Israel Defense Forces, they make a decision that changes their lives – and the lives of their family members. In partnership with Nefesh B’Nefesh and Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Momentum welcomed Mothers of Lone Soldiers on a revitalizing year-long journey, beginning with a profound, personal 8-day journey in Israel and continuing with monthly online gatherings and Jewish learning. Together, these new “mothers in arms” connected to Jewish values, took in inspiring Jewish wisdom, and learned more about the beautiful country their children now call home – and why their children made the difficult, courageous decision to serve.

Momentum men on the move Our first MoMENtum Men’s Trip to Israel in more than a year and a half was a thrilling experience. As the world changed, each individual transformed in unimaginable ways, and the men spent the week processing their experiences and exploring how Jewish values could enrich their lives and their families’ lives. Almost 100 Jewish men from across the USA and Israel immersed themselves in the Jewish homeland and in deep, personal discussions about relationships, spirituality, and the legacies they want to lead – all with the goal of living truly awesome lives. Our brand new Leadership 2.0 track was led by MoMENtum Men’s Chair and Trip Leader Charlie Harary. Ari Shabat, our newest Trip Leader, joined us for the first time; and veteran Trip Leader Harry Rothenberg led thought-provoking small group sessions throughout the trip.

In 2021, MoMENtum Men enjoyed their first retreat in Orlando, Florida. The retreat’s three energizing days were packed with delicious meals and good whiskey; Jew Flow, sports, and self-defense exercises; tons of relaxation; and Jewish wisdom that has kept our people thriving for generations. More than 50 men from around the country joined us to get real about their lives and their potential – and put themselves back in the driver’s seat.

Momentum retreats kick off GRATITUDE AND GROWTH, CLOSER TO HOME
As Jewish mothers and fathers emerged into a changed world, Momentum was proud to be with them every step of the way. With the launch of Momentum Retreats, we brought the magic of Momentum to our community! Modeled after our flagship Momentum Trip to Israel, our firstever Momentum Retreats invited Jewish women and men to experience a taste of Israel a little closer to home. Over three profound days, participants engaged every sense as they breathed in the fresh outdoors, immersed themselves in gratitude and joy, gained wisdom from Momentum Educators, and nourished themselves with delicious food.

Momentum in Aspen This two-and-a-half-day experience invited supporters and friends of Momentum to rejuvenate their spirits and engage their every sense while soaking up meaningful Jewish values. With Momentum Educator Adrienne Gold Davis as a guide, participants enjoyed meditating against a beautiful mountain backdrop, cocktail hours, and a walk on Aspen Mountain; explored topics from personal growth and self-refinement to living lives in color; and created action plans to seize the moment.

Momentum in Israel Heart and Homeland Momentum Israel welcomed dozens of new Israeli participants to trips and retreats, and pioneered exciting new virtual and in-person programming for our community in Israel. Through shared experiences and deep conversations, our Israeli community gained new perspectives on Israel and their Jewish heritage, and strengthened the connection between Israel and the Diaspora. Meaningful relationships with Israeli women and men continue to be at the heart of the Momentum Trip to Israel.

Virtual Holiday Experiences
Our Israeli community also pioneered extraordinary programming in 2021. With the launch of Yachad Circles, we brought together two diverse groups for gatherings that continue to be well received. Yachad with Olot, in partnership with Poreshet and the Jewish Agency for Israel, connects new immigrants with Israeli natives, and Yachad for Unity brings together secular and religious Israelis. The meetings are based on Jewish values, and each session also incorporates a Momentum Core Value.

In December 2021, we challenged our global Momentum community to raise one million dollars in just 36 hours – to fuel Momentum’s innovation and growth, and inspire thousands more Jewish mothers and fathers with enriching digital content and classes, immersive retreats, and impactful trips to Israel. We asked for our community’s help to #BringItHome. It was a crowdfunding campaign unlike any other. During 36 hours of virtual programming – packed with Jewish wisdom and plenty of special guests like Lori Palatnik, DJ Raphi, and Momentum sisters around the world – we engaged and excited the global Momentum family to help us reach our ambitious goal. And thanks to an amazing group of donors, every dollar was doubled.

Momentum Circles launched first in Israel, thanks to the partnership and strategy work with Alicia Kaylie Yacobi in early 2021, and have continued to expand and be successful there.

As we brought our inspiration online during the pandemic, we expanded our smaller educational offerings virtually, too. With these personalized and inspiring Jewish learning opportunities with Momentum Educators, Momentum invested in our friends and supporters.
We are also launching two new offerings in 2022: a course on speaking to your family and friends about Israel, in partnership with VIBE Israel, and a course about the wisdom of Mussar and its applications in our daily lives, in partnership with The Mussar Institute.

Year of Growth Each month, Momentum cohorts around the world delve into Jewish values with Momentum’s Year of Growth as their guide. In 2021, Year of Growth was published as a book! Available in English, Hebrew, Russian, and Spanish, Year of Growth makes it possible for our global community to engage with Jewish learning at their own speed and with whomever they wish. Since its publication, every MOMentum Year-Long Journey participant has received a copy of Year of Growth to guide their post-trip journey.
Prayer Workshops In 2021, Momentum began creating a new siddur that will combine traditional liturgy with accessible wisdom, reflection, and connection to Jewish peoplehood. Members of the Momentum global community from 14 countries and 42 partner organizations took part in workshops to write personal prayers and provide input toward making this new resource accessible and relevant.

The Yomm App, created in partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and the Mayberg Foundation, aims to capture the magic and wonder of the MOMentum Year-Long Journey and translate it into a daily digital companion to elevate Jewish life for Jewish mothers around the world.
Family recipes capture a snapshot of who we are as individuals and as a people, of where we come from, and how we live today. We’ve partnered with our friends at The Jewish Food Society, a non-profit that works to preserve culinary heritage, to create a cookbook that highlights treasured family recipes and stories from the Momentum community.
