Beauty Bridal
Finding the perfect wedding dress is often a priority, but for glamorous
bride-to-be Norma Jean, she knew that the right dress would find her.
T
he search for a wedding dress was always going to be a planning highlight, and was a task that Norma Jean really wanted to be well equipped for. Armed with a mind’s-eye vision of what she was after, Norma Jean made the most of a period of work inactivity to fully get into the job at hand. Bringing along mum Leonie Antoinette as her shopping extraordinaire wing-woman, Norma Jean knew exactly what she wanted... or rather what she didn’t want. “I did

not feel anxious about the whole thing even though I have read it can be quite daunting, but I knew that with Mum in tow, I was in good hands!”. Taking things seriously, Norma Jean booked a solid week’s wor th of appointments in dress shops throughout London, in one day tr ying on twelve dresses in three different shops! Whilst seemingly exhausted, Norma Jean was able to discern immediately if each dress belonged to the Yes, No or Maybe pile. “In many instances I felt that the assistants were just not listening to what I wanted, just what they thought
would look good on me, so I was soon able to rack up an impressive 50 dresses before I found the one!” During a trip to Lakeside, whilst browsing the rails of a chic shop called Confetti & Lace and accompanied by her mother, Norma Jean was pretty much down to the last dress when a helpful assistant came to her aid. After explaining the rough style and cut she was looking for, the assistant surprisingly started taking notes, asking all the right questions and nodding furiously whilst scribbling down the responses. Assuring the ladies that she understood

When did you realise it was love and when did it dawn on you that you wanted to get married? Phil - I realised about 2am in the morning in the back of a packed minibus somewhere between Scot-land and the Lake District. Norma-Jean was asleep with her head on my lap, with my jumper over her keeping her warm. She was comfortable and warm and asleep, I was cold, tired, and with about 18inches of room to sit in, had the cramp from hell. I looked at her, she looked so peaceful and content, I knew I always wanted to look after her. I bent over and kissed her whilst she slept. That’s when I knew she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Norma-jean – Well for me it was a gradual build up we had been meeting up for a while...had gone on a few lovely dates... and then we had a charity event to go to after work...so we all got dressed up I was so nervous as we had not seen each other dressed up to the full...the evening went really well and we had a brilliant time...and it was time for Phil to go...as at the time he lived quite far I really did not want him to go but he had to...we both looked at each other and he said I’m so sorry I have to go...I wanted to tell him then that I had fallen I love with him. But the words could not come out...I had never felt this way before I knew this was the real deal...
