Wan Zhu Material: Bamboo,Rice Straw,Indigo Dye

近幾年環保議題因為其重要性，不斷的在各個國家被討論。而身為學生，

在課堂中聽過無數次減少碳排放的做法，好比多搭捷運並減少自行開車。

不過對於在居家中環保的議題卻是比較少被討論的。

In the recent years, “eco-friendly” is a frequently discussed topic in many countries. As a student, we are taught to reduce the carbon dioxide in course, for example, we should take the MRT as a better choice, rather than driving our own car. However, we don't really talk about what to do at home.

彎竹所使用的竹子取用自大自然，除此之外與另一個材料稻稈皆是生長 非常快速的植物。另一個優點是其生長的從北到南都有它的蹤影，這樣 子也能夠減少運送途中的碳排放。

Wan Zhu is a bamboo chair, which choose the materials directly from the nature. Bamboo and rice straw are two materials that heighten in a very short time. Besides, they can be seen over different places from north to south in Taiwan. We can benifit from lowering the amount of carbon dioxide by shorten shipping distance.

更多不可回收的垃圾，同時產品的壽命循環變小

More garbages that can not recycle, and the lifecycle of products is changing to be smaller.

2002年永續設計這個詞被發明，人類應該要了解生產的產品是要能長久使用 的或使，或者是幫他找到第二個生命。

In 2002 the word "eco design" is made. Our human should aware more on sustainable production and design, and the product ought to reach the end of their useful life in a suitable condition to be put to new uses.

竹子從竹筍至成熟只需4個月

The advantage of bamboo is that it only takes 4 monthes to grow up from the bamboo shoot to bamboo. There are two harvest season in Taiwan, which is May to June and October to November. The growth period of rice are 4 monthes.

在台灣稻子一年有兩季，分別是5、6月和10、11月， 長達4個月

使用就近的材料除了能夠減少炭排放也能幫助周遭農民

It is also friendly to the local sellers and farmers by using the materials nearby.

Modern human has a lot of changes in our everyday life because of the invention of smartphone. We can see the transformation with the posture at home.

使用方圓100公里以內的材料能夠減少運送的碳排放量 不對材料使用太複雜的加工方式以及有毒的黏膠

The material that it is made of comes from somewhere less than 100 kilometer radius, it would be able to reduce the carbon dioxide while transporting it.

Not using too complicated way working on the natural materials, including poisonous glue.

Design Process

永續設計代表著設計師需要實驗新的材料，在這件作品中我嘗試了以往沒有碰過得竹子

以及稻稈，因此我花了很多的時間在嘗試這幾種材料的使用方式。

Sustainable design means somehow the designer should experiment a new combinition of materials. In this case, bamboo and rice straw are quite new to me, I haven't use them as the material to build model before. I spend most part of my time during te bamboo curving, making sure the curvature measure up to what it needs to look comfortable. Rice straw is another part, which is not easy to handle, because the inside of it is still moist. I have to dry them out in the maschine, and withdraw the dirty and rotting area.

裝置需要可以達成行走20公尺的距離，全程不能將腳落於地面，不論快或慢。

或許聽起來蠻簡單的，不過很多人最終無法成功。

In the presentation, the device should be able to move 20 meters without the feet touching the ground, no matter fast or slow. This might sound not so hard, however many students aren't able to reach the goal for the distance.

我和宗楠在討論的階段冒出了一個很酷的想法，也就是在一隻怪獸的身體中操控 它移動，我們決定使用金屬來打造人獸嵌合體。

Zong Nan and I imagine drving in the body of a monster would be pretty cool, so we accomplish it with a full mechanical device, which only made of metal.

運用牙棒和螺絲組合裝置

Drill the holes on our steel sticks, and connect different parts with the screw

當某個部位有誤則可以簡單更換

The benifits is that if a small part doesn't work well, we can depart them easily, and drill another hole before long.

The whole device is composed of three steel sticks, and they have different functions while moving.

Besides the wheels, it is the only part that attach the ground, so the friction between the stick and the floor is very important in this situation. We addtionaly add recycled tire on the attaching part, in order to move smoother.

The function of stick 2 is that it is the bridge between stick 1 and 3. When the stick 3 is tended to move upward, it helps stick 1 go another direction.
