Tourists are also attracted to Goa for its cultural heritage - from the famous old Portuguese churches like Se Cathedral in Old Goa, the 16th Century Safa Masjid in Ponda and Shree Mangesha Temple in Mardol, the legendary Arvalem or Pandava Caves where the Pandavas of the Mahabharat fame lived, to its two unique festivals - Carnival and Shigmo. Goa plays host to many festivals the International Film Festival of India that promotes cinema, the Serendipity Art Festival, Sunburn Music Festival, to name a few. To showcase this varied heritage of culture, art, tradition, food, and people, in 2015 ItsGoa was born. The main aim was to make it the premier portal for all things Goa. We were able to showcase Goa like never before. Soon our blog-based website transcended the virtual space, with the ItsGoa magazine – a sought-after resource for visitors to Goa from countries like Norway, UK, USA, etc.

True to its name, the No Motor Zone promotes environmental awareness and community interaction in a safe and inclusive space. Over the years, the event has grown into a vibrant platform connecting people, ideas, and experiences.

The 7th edition, held on 11th January, marked a significant milestone with immersive zones, youthfocused activities, and a strong sense of collective participation, reinforcing NoMoZo’s role as a unifying community experience.

Looking to the future, Ninil remains focused on strengthening and expanding experiential hospitality concepts while continuing to innovate. His vision centers on sustainable growth, creating spaces that evolve with time without losing their core identity.

Karen Fernandes, Founder of Meraki Social, did not enter entrepreneurship with a long-term blueprint or financial safety net. Based in Saligao, Goa, her journey into business began during one of the most uncertain periods in recent history. After losing her job during the Covid-19 pandemic, she faced the sudden reality of financial instability. Rather than waiting for circumstances to improve, she turned to the skill set she already possessed: social media content creation and strategy.

What began as taking on small projects for friends and acquaintances, many of them unpaid, soon became a proving ground. The results these early clients achieved built both confidence and clarity. By 2020, Karen was working as a freelancer, and in 2022, she formally launched Meraki Social, a social media and personal branding agency focused on strategy-led growth.

The Foundation of Meraki Social

Meraki Social was shaped through practical experience rather than theory. Karen spent the early days managing her own accounts alongside client profiles, testing what worked in real-time instead of relying on surface-level trends.

Building credibility as a young founder came with its challenges, particularly in an industry where experience is often judged by age rather than outcomes.

The formative phase demanded versatility. Strategy, content, client communication, and operations all fell under her responsibility. What transformed Meraki Social from a side project into a scalable business was consistent client growth and clearer brand positioning. One of the most significant challenges Karen faced was being undervalued in the early stages of her career. Lower pricing was often mistaken for lower expertise. Instead of engaging in perception-based debates, she focused on delivering structured strategies, transparent reporting, and measurable outcomes.

This visibility opened doors to speaking engagements at colleges across Goa and at EDC House, Panjim. It also enabled her to work with clients across the USA, UK, Israel, and Canada, helping professionals build credible personal brands on LinkedIn. The platform became both a case study and a growth engine for her business.

She stays close to platform updates, trend shifts, and performance data while continuously testing strategies in real conditions. Tools such as AI, including ChatGPT, are used as support systems rather than substitutes for strategic thinking.

Innovation, in her view, lies in refining proven methods efficiently instead of chasing every new feature. This balance allows Meraki Social to remain agile without losing strategic focus.
