07 Inside The Premier League’s Next Gen Coach Programme
Introduction
Goa, the tiniest state on the western coast of India, boasts golden pristine beaches, palmfringed avenues, flavourful food, delicious Portuguese-influenced sweets, and warm, hospitable people. Also known as the Ibiza of India for its partying. A tropical paradise of flora and fauna, from the very famous 'almi' (mushrooms) endemic to its forests, that grow only on the red mud anthills, to the solar prawns that are fished immediately after the monsoons, Goa is unique. Tourists are also attracted to Goa for its cultural heritage - from the famous old Portuguese churches like Se Cathedral in Old Goa, the 16th Century Safa Masjid in Ponda and Shree Mangesha Temple in Mardol, the legendary Arvalem or Pandava Caves where the Pandavas of the Mahabharat fame lived, to its two unique festivals - Carnival and Shigmo. Goa plays host to many festivals - the International Film Festival of India that promotes cinema, the Serendipity Art Festival, Sunburn Music Festival, The Grape Escapade to name a few. To showcase this varied heritage of culture, art, tradition, food, and people, in 2015 ItsGoa was born. The main aim was to make it the premier portal for all things Goa. We were able to showcase Goa like never before. Soon our blogbased website transcended the virtual space, with the ItsGoa magazine – a sought-after resource for visitors to Goa from countries like Norway, Germany, UK, USA, UAE, etc.

Saish Redkar
Saish Redkar, a Goan singer and sketch artist, followed his passion for music over engineering, building a Rockstar journey through emotional performances, resilience, creativity, and a deep connection to Goa’s cultural spirit.

Saish Redkar
From the quiet village of Lamgao in Bicholim to performing on grand stages across India, Saish Redkar’s journey is one shaped by passion, persistence, and an unwavering belief in following one’s calling. A singer, performer, sketch artist, and aspiring Rockstar, Saish represents a new generation of artists who are redefining success by choosing purpose over predictability.
While many know him today for his energetic live performances and powerful audience connection, his story began in a simple Goan environment deeply rooted in culture, music, and creativity. Surrounded by local celebrations, melodies, and artistic expression from a young age, he developed a natural love for singing that would eventually become the foundation of his career.
What started with small performances gradually transformed into appearances at concerts, luxury events, celebrity gatherings, and elite showcases across the country. Yet beneath the growing recognition lies a story of resilience, self-belief, and the courage to pursue an unconventional dream of becoming a true Rockstar performer.
Choosing Passion Over Security
Interestingly, Saish’s professional background was far removed from the entertainment industry. Trained as a food engineer, he had a stable and secure career path ahead of him. However, despite the comfort and predictability that came with it, music remained impossible to ignore.
For Saish, singing was never simply a hobby or occasional passion. It was something deeply personal, a space where he felt most alive and connected to himself. The stage offered him a sense of fulfillment that no traditional profession could provide. Choosing music full-time was not an easy decision, but it was one driven by instinct and conviction.
Leaving behind stability for uncertainty required immense courage, especially in a field where success often comes slowly and unpredictably. Yet, by trusting his instincts and following his heart, he stepped into a journey that would define both his identity and purpose as an artist and future Rockstar.
A Musical Style Built on Emotion and Energy
Saish’s musical style blends Bollywood, rock, and soulful melodies while seamlessly moving between timeless classics and contemporary hits. His performances often include mashups and unplugged renditions that bring a unique personal touch to familiar songs.
However, what truly distinguishes him is not only his voice but the emotional energy he brings to the stage. Rather than treating performances as routine appearances, he approaches each show as a shared experience with the audience. His concerts are known for their lively atmosphere, emotional connection, and ability to turn music into something immersive and memorable, qualities that continue shaping his identity as a Rockstar entertainer.
Before every performance, Saish takes a quiet moment to mentally prepare himself. He visualizes the crowd, reflects on his journey, and reconnects with the reason he began singing in the first place.

Once he steps on stage, he fully immerses himself in the music, allowing every note and emotion to flow naturally.
The Challenges Behind the Spotlight
Like many independent artists, Saish’s journey came with its share of struggles. Breaking into the industry without strong backing or major support systems meant navigating periods of uncertainty, limited opportunities, and the constant challenge of gaining visibility.
One of the greatest battles, however, was internal. During quieter phases when recognition felt distant, maintaining confidence and believing in his own potential became one of the hardest parts of the journey. Those moments of doubt tested his resilience but also shaped his growth as both an artist and an individual.
Through consistency and determination, he gradually built his place in the industry, proving that persistence often matters as much as talent. Every achievement became meaningful because of the effort and patience required to reach it.
The Moment Everything Felt Real
Among the many milestones in his career, performing at his first major concert remains one of the most defining experiences of his life. Standing before a large audience and feeling the energy of the crowd gave him a sense of clarity and confirmation.
In that moment, the years of uncertainty, sacrifice, and hard work suddenly made sense. It became clear to him that music was not simply something he loved doing, but where he truly belonged. That realization continues to fuel his ambition as he works toward becoming the Rockstar singer he once only dreamed of being.
Beyond Music: The Artist Within
Outside the world of music, Saish is also an accomplished charcoal sketch artist. His interest in drawing began during his school years, where he frequently participated in competitions and won recognition for his artistic abilities. Although sketching started as a childhood hobby, it evolved significantly during the COVID period when he dedicated himself to refining his skills.
Through focused practice and experimentation, he learned to create emotionally expressive charcoal artwork that reflected both technical precision and personal emotion.
For Saish, creativity is not limited to one medium. Whether through singing or sketching, art serves as a powerful form of self-expression and emotional connection. It influences the way he views the world, interacts with people, and approaches life itself.
The Influence of Goa and Cultural Identity
Saish credits much of his personality and artistic spirit to his Goan roots. Growing up amidst Goa’s vibrant celebrations, musical traditions, and freespirited culture taught him to embrace individuality and express himself fearlessly.
The warmth, rhythm, and energy of his hometown continue to influence his performances and artistic perspective. His work reflects authenticity, emotional openness, and the vibrant confidence associated with a Rockstar spirit. Despite performing on larger platforms today, he remains closely connected to the simplicity and values that shaped his journey from the beginning.

Looking Toward Bigger Dreams
For Saish Redkar, the journey is only beginning. With new projects, performances, and creative pursuits ahead, his vision extends far beyond personal success. He hopes to continue evolving as an artist who creates meaningful experiences, connects deeply with audiences, and leaves a lasting impact through both music and art.
At the heart of his story lies a message of courage and perseverance. He encourages young dreamers not to let fear define their future and believes that success begins with the willingness to take the first step, even when the outcome is uncertain.
From the small village of Lamgao to stages filled with lights, energy, and applause, Saish Redkar’s story stands as a reminder that dreams built on passion, authenticity, resilience, and the spirit of a Rockstar have the power to transcend boundaries.

Event management
Mohamad Gous
Mohamad Gous, Director of AMSA Group, has built a distinguished career in event management, delivering worldclass experiences, authoring Goa’s first event management book, and inspiring future industry professionals.

In the dynamic world of event management, where creativity meets pressure and perfection is expected at every step, few names have built a reputation as strong and trusted as Mohamad Gous. From luxury destination weddings, corporate events and celebrity events to prestigious government events & productions and international festivals, his journey reflects passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to creating unforgettable experiences.
Born and raised in Goa, Mohamad Gous grew up amidst the state’s vibrant culture, scenic beauty, and thriving tourism industry. Surrounded by celebrations and large social gatherings from an early age, he naturally developed a fascination for creativity and large-scale experiences. Although his childhood dream was to become a pilot, life eventually guided him toward an industry where he discovered his true calling, event management.
Today, as the Director of AMSA Group, he stands among the leading figures in India’s event management and production landscape, known for delivering experiences that go far beyond conventional celebrations.
Building Experiences, Not Just Events
At the heart of AMSA Group lies a vision that was originally established by founder Mr. Abdulla Aminbhai, to create a one-stop solution for all kinds of events while delivering personalised and bespoke experiences tailored to every client’s vision. Under Mohamad Gous’ leadership, that vision has evolved into a brand synonymous with excellence, creativity, and precision.
With more than two decades of industry experience, AMSA Group has successfully managed some of India’s most prestigious events, including the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the National Games, large-scale EDM festivals, luxury destination weddings, celebrity events, corporate Events and productions, and high-profile social celebrations.
For Mohamad Gous, event management has never been limited to logistics and execution. He believes events are deeply emotional experiences that create lasting memories and meaningful human connections. This philosophy continues to shape the company’s approach toward every project it undertakes.
A Journey Defined by Pressure and Passion
The event industry is often perceived as glamorous, but behind every successful event lies months of planning, sleepless nights, last-minute changes, and immense responsibility. Over the years, Mohamad Gous has experienced every aspect of this demanding profession. Handling large-scale events & production across India taught him the importance of teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and calm decision-making under pressure.
Whether managing luxury weddings or government events involving massive coordination, each project strengthened his understanding of crisis management and operational excellence. What continues to motivate him is the ability to create unforgettable experiences for people. For him, seeing the satisfaction and happiness of clients after months of hard work remains one of the most rewarding aspects of the profession.

The Qualities Behind Success in Event Management
According to Mohamad Gous, succeeding in the events and production industry requires far more than creativity alone. Passion, patience, communication, discipline, teamwork, and problemsolving are equally essential.
He strongly believes that the real test of an event professional begins when unexpected challenges arise. No matter how detailed the planning may be, unforeseen situations are inevitable, and success depends on how effectively one responds to them.
The industry also demands strong interpersonal skills, as event professionals constantly coordinate with clients, artists, vendors, production crews, and hospitality teams.
Managing emotions, maintaining professionalism, and ensuring seamless execution are all part of the role. While the final outcome may appear glamorous to outsiders, Mohamad Gous emphasises that the foundation of every successful event is built on hard work, long hours, and dedication.
The Stories That Inspired a Book
One of the most defining milestones in Mohamad Gous’s journey has been becoming the first Goan to author a book on event management titled The Show Must Go On! (Even If Everything Else Goes Wrong). The book draws inspiration directly from his real-life experiences in the industry and offers readers an honest look behind the scenes of event management.
Rather than focusing solely on the glamour associated with events, the book highlights the pressure, unpredictability, chaos, teamwork, and emotional resilience required to succeed in the profession. Among the most memorable incidents featured in the book is a chapter titled “Red Roses Nightmare!”, a wedding project that perfectly captured the unpredictable nature of the industry.
Just a day before the event, the client demanded an entire décor setup exclusively with red roses after discovering a design on social media. Arranging such a massive quantity overnight in Goa proved nearly impossible, yet his team managed the task after extensive coordination.

The challenges, however, continued to escalate. Setup delays, logistical difficulties involving a seventh-floor venue without service lifts, generator failures during the couple’s grand entry, and music license complications created a chain of crises throughout the event.
Despite the overwhelming pressure, the wedding was eventually executed successfully, leaving behind one of the most impactful lessons of his career. Experiences like these inspired the title of the book itself, a reminder that no matter how difficult circumstances become, professionals in the industry must always find a way forward.
Sharing Knowledge with the Next Generation
Beyond managing large-scale Events and production, Mohamad Gous has also emerged as a respected speaker and panelist at industry conferences across India. Through these platforms, he actively mentors aspiring event professionals and shares valuable insights from his journey.

One of the key messages he consistently emphasises is that event management is not simply about glamour or social recognition. It is an industry built on responsibility, adaptability, and the ability to remain composed during high-pressure situations.
He encourages young professionals to prioritise practical experience over theoretical learning, explaining that the true lessons of the industry are gained on the ground through real challenges and live event execution. He also highlights the importance of building strong professional relationships, maintaining integrity, and continuously learning in a rapidly evolving industry.
Creativity Through Constant Evolution
In an industry driven by changing trends and audience expectations, staying creative requires continuous learning and observation.
Mohamad Gous regularly explores global event concepts, international décor styles, entertainment formats, and emerging technologies to remain ahead of industry trends. Travel, networking, industry conferences, and social media play a major role in inspiring fresh ideas.

However, he believes creativity is not merely about extravagant décor or grand productions, it is about designing experiences that emotionally connect with people. At AMSA Group, innovation is approached collaboratively. Brainstorming sessions, creative experimentation, and personalised event concepts allow the team to deliver experiences that reflect the personality and vision of each client.
Promoting Goa on the Global Stage
Beyond business growth, Mohamad Gous remains deeply passionate about promoting Goa as a premier luxury destination wedding location. His long-term vision is to take AMSA Group to the international stage and establish it as a globally recognised event management and production company.
At the same time, he hopes to continue contributing to the growth of the events industry by inspiring young entrepreneurs, supporting innovation, and creating opportunities for aspiring professionals. Outside the professional world, travelling and writing remain two of his greatest passions.
Both pursuits continue to fuel his creativity while allowing him to share stories, lessons, and experiences gathered throughout his journey.
A Message Rooted in Resilience
For young entrepreneurs and aspiring event professionals, Mohamad Gous believes challenges should never be feared. According to him, true growth emerges from difficult situations, failures, and moments of uncertainty.
His philosophy reflects the spirit that has shaped his career:
“Dream so big that your fear becomes smaller than your vision. Because in the end, success belongs to those who keep going even when everything around them is falling apart.”
And perhaps no sentence captures his journey more perfectly than the title of his book itself: “The Show Must Go On! (Even If Everything Else Goes Wrong).”

Jouella Faria transformed a lockdown discovery into Mandalas by Jouella, creating intricate mandala artworks that blend precision, healing, and creativity while balancing corporate life and growing artistic aspirations.

Jouella Faria
In the quiet village of Assagao, Goa, intricate patterns, delicate symmetry, and mindful creativity come together through the work of mandala artist Jouella Faria. What began as a moment of curiosity during the uncertainty of the Covid-19 lockdown gradually transformed into a deeply personal artistic journey and eventually evolved into Mandalas by Jouella, a growing creative identity built around precision, patience, and emotional expression.
Over the past five years, Jouella has cultivated a distinctive artistic voice through highly detailed mandala creations that blend technical skill with calmness and introspection. Her work reflects not only artistic dedication but also the emotional connection she has developed with the meditative nature of mandala art itself.
Discovering Mandala Art During Lockdown
Like many creative journeys born during the pandemic, Jouella’s introduction to mandala art happened unexpectedly. During the nationwide lockdown, she came across a simple mandala artwork on Pinterest.
What initially began as an attempt to recreate the design soon developed into a genuine fascination with the form. The repetitive patterns, structured symmetry, and intricate detailing drew her in immediately. As she spent more time experimenting with designs of varying scales and complexity, mandala art gradually became more than just a pastime. It evolved into a creative practice she found herself constantly returning to.
From small experimental sketches to larger, more detailed artworks, her passion for the craft continued to grow organically. Art had always been a part of her life from a young age, with school competitions, crafts, and stationery serving as early sources of excitement and inspiration. However, discovering mandala art introduced her to an entirely different dimension of creativity that felt both challenging and deeply fulfilling.
The Birth of “Mandalas by Jouella”
As Jouella began sharing her artwork on Instagram and Facebook under the name Mandalas by Jouella, her work quickly started gaining recognition. The intricacy of her designs and the attention to detail

resonated with audiences online, leading to customised commissions and personalised orders. The response she received became a turning point in her journey. Encouragement from viewers and clients strengthened her confidence and reinforced the possibility of building something meaningful around an art form she genuinely loved.
What initially started as a creative outlet slowly transformed into a growing artistic platform that reflected both her individuality and dedication to handcrafted artistry.
Art as a Form of Emotional Healing
For Jouella, mandala art extends far beyond visual aesthetics. The process of creating intricate patterns and structured compositions became emotionally therapeutic during a difficult and uncertain period in the world. She describes mandala art as something that helped her heal emotionally. The discipline, repetition, and concentration involved in each piece created a sense of calmness and grounding. Through every line, curve, and detail, the art form offered a space for introspection and mental stillness. This emotional connection remains central to her work today.
More than simply producing decorative artwork, she aims to create pieces that communicate calmness, patience, and appreciation for detail. When viewers engage with her creations, she hopes they take the time to notice every stroke and experience the quietness embedded within the patterns.
A Love for Intricate Detailing
While mandalas can range from minimal and simple compositions to highly elaborate designs, Jouella finds herself most drawn to intricate artwork. Her artistic style revolves around complexity, precision, and layered detailing that demands patience and focus.
Using GSM sheets and technical fineliner pens, she carefully constructs symmetrical patterns that often require long hours of concentrated effort. Her preference for high-quality art supplies reflects her belief that craftsmanship and materials together contribute to the final impact of an artwork.
In addition to traditional pen mandalas, Jouella has also explored the technique of dot mandala art. This form uses carefully placed dots to build patterns and textures, creating visually striking compositions with depth and rhythm.
Her experimentation with dot mandalas has expanded across a variety of surfaces, including bottles, coasters, canvases, notebook covers, and decorative pots. This willingness to work across mediums highlights her evolving creative approach and interest in exploring the versatility of mandala art beyond paper-based formats.
Balancing Creativity with Corporate Life
One of the biggest challenges in Jouella’s journey has been maintaining a balance between her corporate career and her growing artistic practice. Having spent more than three years in a corporate environment, she often found herself managing customised orders and creative commitments alongside demanding work schedules.

There were moments when fulfilling commissions meant working late into the night or waking up early before office hours to complete intricate pieces on time. The balancing act required discipline, consistency, and a genuine passion for the craft.
Despite these challenges, her dedication to mandala art never faded. Instead, the process reinforced her commitment to nurturing creativity even amidst professional responsibilities.
Memorable Creations and Artistic Milestones
Among the many artworks she has created, a few projects remain especially meaningful to her journey as an artist. One of her most memorable works was a fully hand-painted guitar case featuring miniature dot mandalas along the sides and a Goan-themed composition on the front.
As one of her earliest large-scale projects, the guitar case represented both creative experimentation and technical growth. The artwork combined intricate detailing with regional inspiration, making it particularly special within her portfolio.
Another standout creation was a large black-andwhite mandala artwork measuring 75 cm by 61 cm. The scale and intricacy of the piece reflected the refinement of her artistic style and her increasing confidence in handling complex compositions.
Looking Ahead
As Mandalas by Jouella continues to grow, Jouella hopes to further expand her creative journey by exploring new mediums, surfaces, and artistic opportunities. Her long-term vision is rooted in continuing to create meaningful artwork while steadily building her brand and artistic identity.
Her story reflects the power of discovering creativity through unexpected moments and nurturing it through consistency and passion. Through patience, intricate craftsmanship, and emotional authenticity, Jouella Faria has transformed mandala art into both a personal sanctuary and a growing creative venture.
In every carefully drawn pattern lies not just artistic precision, but also a quiet reminder of stillness, healing, and the beauty of slowing down.

Digital Creator & influencer
Bipin Gauns Dessai
Bipin Gauns Dessai, a Goan influencer and digital creator, is dedicated to preserving Goa’s cultural heritage through compelling storytelling, authentic narratives, and impactful projects like Kalyug, inspiring younger generations to embrace their roots, language, and creative expression.

www.itsgoa.com itsgoa_ Itsgoa
In an era where digital content often prioritizes trends over authenticity, Bipin Gauns Dessai has emerged as a creator who is deeply committed to preserving the soul of Goa. A digital content creator, artist, influencer, and professional hotelier from Quepem, Goa, Bipin has carved a distinctive space for himself by blending cinematic storytelling with cultural preservation. Through his work, he presents Goa not merely as a tourist destination, but as a land of living traditions, evolving communities, and untold stories.
Rooted in the cultural richness of Goa, Bipin’s journey began with a simple yet powerful intention, to tell stories that often remain unheard. Fascinated by the intersection of traditional life and modern media, he found inspiration in documenting the emotional depth, beauty, and realities of local Goan life. His work reflects a commitment to showcasing a side of Goa that exists beyond beaches and postcards, capturing instead the everyday spirit of its people, villages, and language.
Capturing the “Real” Goa
Growing up in Quepem gave Bipin a close connection to the cultural heartbeat of the state. While much of Goa is globally associated with tourism and nightlife, he believes there is another side of Goa that deserves equal recognition, one rooted in heritage, simplicity, and community life.
This deep sense of belonging fuels his passion for content creation. Through his visual narratives, Bipin aims to document the evolving identity of Goa while ensuring that its traditions and language remain relevant for future generations. For him, Goan culture is not frozen in time; it is dynamic, resilient, and continuously adapting to modern influences. His work consistently reflects this philosophy. Whether through cinematic reels, editorial-style photography, or storytelling projects in Konkani, Bipin presents Goa with emotional honesty and artistic depth.
The Vision Behind “Kalyug”
Among his most ambitious projects is the 10-part Konkani series Kalyug, a creative undertaking that has become a defining milestone in his journey.

Coronation of the Virgin Mary, acrylic on canvas, created for the main altar at Our Lady of Penha de França, Britona
The series emerged during a period of personal reflection and was driven by his desire to create meaningful content that resonates with Goan audiences, especially the youth.
Kalyug explores the realities of contemporary Goan society while encouraging audiences to reconnect with their cultural roots. The project delves into themes such as cultural erosion, the declining use of local language, shifting village dynamics, and the emotional disconnect between tradition and modern lifestyles.
Rather than presenting these subjects in a preachy manner, Bipin approaches them through cinematic realism, turning everyday moments into emotionally engaging visual experiences. His storytelling encourages viewers to reflect on the value of identity, language, and heritage in a rapidly changing world.
At its core, Kalyug serves as both a cultural archive and a conversation starter, aiming to inspire awareness and pride among younger generations.

Driven by passion and purpose
A Cinematic Approach to Storytelling
One of the most striking aspects of Bipin’s work is its visual sophistication. His content is widely recognized for its high-definition cinematic quality, editorial composition, and warm “golden hour” aesthetic. Every frame is carefully curated to evoke emotion while maintaining a polished, professional finish.
Bipin describes his style as “cinematic realism.” He transforms ordinary scenes into visually compelling narratives through detailed composition, advanced editing techniques, and professional filmmaking methods. Using tools such as Lightroom and Photoshop, he elevates local stories to a standard that can compete on an international digital platform.
One of his cinematic reels achieved legendary status across Goa after going viral and reaching an extraordinary 4.8 million views, further establishing his impact in the state’s digital creative space. Music also plays an important role in his creative process, with original beats and cinematic scripting helping
him create immersive experiences that feel closer to film productions than conventional social media content.
Grit, Discipline, and Self-Motivation
Behind the polished visuals lies years of persistence and self-discipline. Bipin strongly believes that success in the creative field demands consistency, patience, and unwavering determination. He openly acknowledges that building a meaningful digital presence is not an overnight achievement.
Throughout his journey, self-motivation has remained the driving force behind his growth. From experimenting with simple content formats in the beginning to eventually producing professional cinematic projects, he has continuously evolved through learning, practice, and resilience.
One of the major challenges he faced was discovering his unique voice in an increasingly crowded digital landscape. Overcoming self-doubt, mastering branding techniques, understanding SEO, and maintaining creative consistency were all significant milestones in his evolution as a creator.

Stepping into USA for the first time, Bipin celebrates a dream fulfilled
He also speaks candidly about the difficulty of finding young individuals who are genuinely passionate and talented enough to collaborate on meaningful creative projects. Despite these challenges, Bipin remains committed to building a stronger creative culture among Goan youth.
Balancing Authenticity with Modern Appeal
A defining strength of Bipin’s work is his ability to preserve authenticity while presenting it in a globally appealing format. The emotional truth of his stories remains grounded in local realities, while the technical execution ensures that the content feels modern, refined, and visually competitive. For Bipin, authenticity comes from staying true to the subjects and communities he documents. The polished presentation, on the other hand, comes from professional production quality and attention to detail. This balance allows him to create content that resonates with both local audiences and viewers beyond Goa.
As someone who considers creators to be the “newage historians,” Bipin feels a deep responsibility toward preserving Goan identity. Through his projects, he seeks to ensure that Konkani language, traditions, and local stories remain relevant in an increasingly digital world.
Beyond the Lens
Outside of content creation, Bipin’s interests continue to shape his artistic perspective. He is passionate about content creation, photography, travel, and exploring evolving cultural trends. His travels, including visits to the United States, have broadened his visual sensibilities and inspired new creative directions while strengthening his appreciation for Goan lifestyles and traditions. Traveling and discovering new landscapes also provide him with creative clarity, allowing him to return to his projects with fresh inspiration and renewed energy.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Through both his work and personal philosophy, Bipin hopes to inspire young creators to embrace
their individuality and cultural roots. His message to aspiring artists is rooted in discipline and perseverance: begin with what you have, stay consistent, and never allow temporary setbacks to discourage long-term vision.
He encourages the youth of Goa to take pride in their identity and to understand that their unique backgrounds are their greatest creative strengths. For Bipin, authenticity will always have greater value than imitation.
As he continues developing the Kalyug series and expanding his creative ambitions, Bipin remains focused on pushing the boundaries of Goan digital storytelling. With plans to eventually bring these narratives to international platforms, he is steadily building a body of work that celebrates Goa not just as a destination, but as a culture worthy of global recognition.
For Bipin Gauns Dessai, this journey is only the beginning.

The Premier League’s Next Gen Coach Programme in Goa is strengthening grassroots football across India by training coaches, expanding youth development opportunities, and building a long-term pathway for future football talent.
Football in India is finding its feet…and fast. The Premier League alone draws 71 million viewers across the country, a number that surpasses the entire population of the United Kingdom. With only a fraction of India’s 1.4 billion engaged, the sport’s greatest chapter remains unwritten. Beyond the leagues, a quiet, foundational mission is building the game from the ground up. The 2026 Premier League Next Gen Coach Programme was held in Goa recently, at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa, with specific sessions organised as part of the broader Dream Sports Championship 2026. The Next Gen Coach Programme marks the latest and most evolved chapter in that effort, drawing on nearly two decades of grassroots work across 18 Indian states. ItsGoa sat down with Hrishikesh Shende, Managing Director of Premier League India, to understand what this programme means for Indian football and why Goa may just be where the country's footballing future takes its first real kick.
Q: So, I would first like to ask you, why is the Premier League investing in grassroots in India?
A: Grassroots is fundamental to our strategy in India because, without grassroots development, the sport itself will not scale or grow bigger. One of our key objectives in India is to grow the category and grow the sport itself. We want Indians to play football at scale. Cricket has already shown what fandom at scale can unlock, and that’s also what we want to do with football. I think by focusing on coaches at the grassroots level, we are able to have a far wider impact than we could individually by coaching each player. For every coach that we train, if they are upskilled and empowered, they are able to translate that into a transformational impact on another 100,000 kids.
Q: How does the Next Gen Coach programme fit into the broader strategy of expanding football grassroots in India?
A: The Next Gen Coach programme has basically been built upon three previous editions that we had: Primary Stars, Premier Skills and the Community Coach Development Programme. It is based on the learnings and methodology of all three put together. So, it’s now a far more improved programme.
It really helps connect us with coaches who are just getting into the coaching world, who are not quite in the elite category, but are working more on the grassroots side of things and with young individuals. From our perspective, what the Next Gen programme really unlocks is our ability to scale this significantly and expand our geographic footprint as well. What we want to do through the Next Gen Programme is build on the success we’ve already had with about 7,300 coaches, referees and coach educators, which has impacted around 124,000 kids overall. But now we want to take this to the next level with the Next Gen Coach Programme.
Q: How important is India within the Premier League's global vision and market strategy?
A: India is one of three strategic markets that have been identified centrally. The US, China and India are the three big markets, or three strategic markets. Clearly, the long-term growth outlook for India is very positive, and the Premier League obviously wants to grow its presence in the country. Through our broadcast partner, we want to make the Premier League far more accessible. Currently, we have a viewership of about 71 million, which is actually higher than the entire population of the UK. But from an Indian perspective, we’ve not even scratched the surface. We clearly see a massive runway for growth. And then, of course, through our football development and grassroots work, we want to fundamentally make football more popular, more accessible and really help develop the sport in India. These are the three things we want to do from that perspective. From a fan engagement and growth perspective, there are several initiatives, both digital and on the ground, that we are undertaking to bring fans closer to the Premier League and continue growing that audience.
Q: Is there any new prominent figure from the Premier League that is scheduled to visit India next?
A: We had Michael Owen (former Real Madrid icon) come over here in October. Owen is obviously a massive legend in his own right. Those conversations are always ongoing. These are not easy things because they have coaching careers and media

Q: For Premier League India, what do you think is the way forward for the league in the country?
A. The Premier League has been active in India over the last 18 or 19 years. We have a statistic that is “18 years and 18 states”. We’ve conducted activations in 18 states across the previous 18 years. What this opportunity unlocks, by having an office and boots on the ground, is the ability to show up far more consistently and maintain an almost alwayson presence in the country.
Through football development, grassroots activations and broadcast, digital and on-the-ground events and activations, we can have a far more consistent and frequent conversation with our fans and stakeholders.
Q: When do you see Indian footballers being able to play in the Premier League?
A: Our efforts on the football development side are exactly aimed at trying to find an answer to that question. It’s not a question that the Premier League can answer on its own. I think all stakeholders in Indian football need to come together to make that happen. We obviously want to play our role in doing that. The Dream Sports Championship, through our partnership with them and by uplifting the coaches and kids who participated in it, is a big step in that direction. Ultimately, I think we are all trying to find that one big superstar from the country. It is a longterm project. There are no shortcuts to this, and we are prepared to do that foundational work.

Through mentorship, shared learning, and inclusive coaching practices, football educators in Goa are nurturing confidence, participation, and personal growth, creating supportive environments where children develop valuable skills both on and off the field.
Players may win matches and score memorable goals, but behind every confident footballer is a coach quietly guiding, encouraging and shaping their journey long before the spotlight arrives. This philosophy was at the centre of the recently conducted Premier League’s Next Gen Coach Programme in Goa, where coaches gathered to explore how football can become more inclusive, engaging and meaningful for young people.
Held from May 10 to 13, the four-day programme brought together 30 coaches from the OSCAR Foundation for a mix of classroom and on-pitch sessions led by Premier League coaches and Indian alumni coaches. The focus was not just on improving football drills, but on helping coaches create safe, positive spaces where children can learn, grow and enjoy the game.
Duler, May 2026 – Navelim’s Nathaniel Da Costa has worn many hats in Indian football over the years. His journey began in 2008 in sports journalism before he moved to Churchill Brothers as a reporter and content editor. A later stint with FC Goa as media manager brought him closer to the professional side of the game, but it was his work with the Forca Goa Foundation that deepened his engagement with grassroots football.
Working alongside community initiatives and young players gradually reshaped his path. By 2016, Da Costa had joined the Premier League’s coaching development programme, going on to earn his coaching licences before qualifying as a coach educator in 2019. Since then, he has been applying those learnings to strengthen grassroots football training sessions across Goa. For Nathaniel, the real value of the Next Gen Coach Programme, which was held earlier in May, lies in the environment it creates to learn and grow.
“The sessions are a lot of fun. They focus on participation and making sure everyone feels included regardless of ability or gender,” he said.
Nathaniel believes programmes like these can have a lasting impact if they continue reaching coaches across India, especially at the grassroots level, where young players first fall in love with the game.
Aldona’s Shekhar Kerkar believes coaching is about giving children the freedom to express themselves without the fear of failure. Through years of working in community football, he has seen how young players thrive when training sessions are designed to be enjoyable, supportive and centred around the needs of the player.
“These sessions give young boys and girls the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. The approach is more player-centric, where every child gets an opportunity to improve,” Shekhar said.
Shekhar’s association with the Premier League began in 2014 through the Premier Skills project, an experience he says completely transformed the way he coached.
“It gave me more vision and more tools to make my sessions more effective,” he explained.
Over the years, Shekhar progressed from community coach to coach educator and later became part of the Premier League Primary Stars project in 2020. Through the initiative, he worked with coaches, PE teachers and educators from across India.
Shekhar believes programmes like these are valuable because they help coaches improve themselves while also creating better learning environments for children.
Premier League Community Coach Carl Plunkett, who was in Goa as part of the group of visiting coaches under the Next Gen Coach Programme, believes the initiative is less about perfect drills and more about helping coaches build confidence and stronger connections with young players.
“The goal of this programme is to reach community coaches and give them confidence,” Carl said.
Having worked with academies such as Chelsea FC, Fulham FC, Reading FC. and Crystal Palace FC, Carl has experienced different football cultures around the world. During his time in Goa, however, he found grassroots coaches in India shared the same passion and understanding of the game as coaches back home, in England.
According to him, the biggest challenge was confidence and the willingness to openly share ideas. That gradually changed as the sessions became more interactive.
“At first there was a little nervousness,” he admitted. “But once they started interacting, we could really help push them further.”
Carl says improving coaches at the grassroots level ultimately helps improve the experience for every child stepping onto the field.
According to Dr Shilpi Sharma, COO of the OSCAR Foundation, a community based sports for
development (S4D) organisation in Maharashtra, football is a powerful tool to help children grow both on and off the field. Through the foundation, sport is used to teach confidence, teamwork and life skills to children from underserved communities.
“Today, OSCAR is reaching out to 20,000 children,” she said. “When these young coaches get trained, they go back and impact hundreds and thousands of more children.”
For Dr Shilpi, programmes like the Next Gen Coach Programme are important because they create better coaches, who in turn create safer and more positive spaces for children through football.
