"AGE of AUTUMN" artexhibition
This exhibition explores the movement of time and the process of aging. Looking forward and back in the flux of letting go and in recognition of inevitable onslaught of winter. It offers a dialogue between that which is discarded and recognition of its amassed beauty.

SHORT BIO
Karena moved to the Northern Rivers NSW in 1975 after a previous career in independent filmmaking and graphic art and has been an exhibiting artist since 1980. Over this period she has exhibited in 16 solo, and more than a hundred combined and group showings and won many awards across all media. She quickly gained a reputation for outstanding treatment of watercolour when depicting such subjects as rainforests, heath land and rural scenes. Her work spans a wide variety of subjects from landscape, portraiture, natural history and erotica. Her book ‘ Byron Portfolio’ has been purchased by thousands of visitors and her prints and paintings adorn walls locally ,nationally and internationally. Karena specialised in watercolour for a number of years and is considered a major artist in this field . Her watercolour course ‘Secrets of the Professionals’ was serialised in Australian Artist magazine in 2005. Her work has been reproduced in books, magazines, calendars and cards and prints.
ARTISTS STATEMENT
Karena’s work is about a fascination bordering on awe when confronted with the natural forms of our visible world. Painting landscapes, portraits, natural history all in a representational style, because she found this to be the best way to communicate my emotion with the viewer. Artists have a relevancy in a world which is bombarded with imagery on a daily basis –our unique vision can direct the viewer to a more introspective appreciation of our chosen subjects.

SHORT BIO
Currently residing in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Nicola Harris has honed her multidisciplinary sculpture practice over the past 20 years. While studying at VCA Melbourne, Harris, explored and challenged conventional uses of materials to glean new meaning from her chosen subject matter. Her connection to the land made sense of the ugliness and the beauty that sit together and became the corner stone of Harris’ art practice.
ARTISTS STATEMENT
As the sun sets on the day, one recognises that the day is coming to an inevitable end. Likewise as the body ticks over, it too, gives us the sign that certain things of youth and those productive middle years are passing onto a different phase, not unlike the seasons.
There is an exceptance of this process but also an equal recognition of holding onto and fertilising those things that will enhance the next stage.of your journey. There is time for reflection, acknowledgement and fight; all elements that make us human. So too these works.
