Material properties of Kerto® LVL S-beam PLUS in Australia
Kerto LVL S-beam PLUS material values were tested and analysed by Eurofins Expert Services Oy The European and ASTM test methods used are in accordance with the Australian test methods according to AS/NZS 4357.2 and AS/NZS 4063.1.
The design characteristic values for use with AS 1720.1 are given in the below table Evaluation of design characteristic values was done according to AS/NZS 4063.2. The stress grade was defined according to AS/NZS 4357.0 and AS 1720.1 The product doesn’t have a third party certificate in Australia yet
Design characteristic property (thickness range 36 – 63 mm) Value
5th percentile bending strength, parallel to grain, edgewise (cross section depth h = 300 mm)
For other cross section depths the design characteristic value is multiplied by ℎ =(300 ℎ )0,15 when h ≥ 90 mm
=1,20 when h < 90 mm
5th percentile bending strength, parallel to grain, flatwise
5th percentile tension strength, parallel to grain (cross section width (larger crosssectional dimension) h = 150 mm)
For other cross section widths the design characteristic value is multiplied by ℎ =(150 ℎ )0,15 when h ≥ 80 mm
ℎ =1,10 when h < 80 mm
