Selecting a Paint Colour
Light colours with a light reflective value (LRV) of >30% are recommended as dark colours absorb light and heat. An elevated temperature build up in Design Pine can lead to a number of problems including distortion, surface cracking or resin bleed. A colour guide with information on LRV and cool colours can be found on www.designpine.com

Western Red Cedar

Cedar
ITI Australia’s range of Western Red Cedar products are responsibly sourced from the carefully managed natural forests of British Columbia and Vancouver Island in Canada.
Before being shipped, the timber undergoes grading in Canada and is supplied as clear or select tight knot (STK) grade.
Upon arrival in Australia, it undergoes an air-drying process which acclimatises the timber to local conditions before being profiled. This meticulous process ensures that the timber achieves its optimal performance in the Australian environment.
Western Red Cedar is widely coveted for its exceptional qualities that set it apart in the world of timber. Renowned for its remarkable durability, this wood exhibits natural resistance to decay and insects, making it an ideal choice for outdoor Cladding and Lining applications.
Western Red Cedar is the original lightweight building material, furthermore it boasts excellent thermal insulating properties, making it an eco-friendly choice for energy-efficient Cladding and Lining projects.

Cypress Pine
Renowned for its exceptional qualities, Cypress Pine stands as a testament to nature’s artistry.
As you explore the possibilities of incorporating Cypress Pine into your projects, it’s important to note that checking is a natural characteristic of this remarkable wood.
This unique feature adds to the authenticity of the material, embodying the rustic appeal that has made
Cypress Pine a favourite choice for designers, builders, and homeowners alike. With its distinct grain patterns and warm tones.
Cypress Pine embraces the concept of imperfect beauty, enhancing the character and depth of each piece. Embrace the authenticity of nature with
Cypress Pine, where every check tells a story and adds to the enduring allure of this remarkable wood.
Maintaining the natural allure of Cypress Pine is as straightforward as it is rewarding. With its inherent durability and resistance to decay, Cypress Pine requires minimal upkeep, allowing you to enjoy its timeless beauty without the hassle of constant maintenance.
Here are some key pointers to ensure your Cypress Pine surfaces continue to radiate their natural charm:
Regular Cleaning: Keep your Cypress Pine surfaces clean by gently removing dirt and debris using a soft brush or cloth.
This prevents any accumulation that could potentially mar its appearance.
Protective Coatings: Applying a suitable wood finish or coating can provide an added layer of protection against the elements. While not strictly necessary, it can extend the longevity of your Cypress Pine and enhance its resistance to wear.
Inspect for Damage: Periodically inspect your Cypress Pine for any signs of damage, such as cracks or splits. Addressing such issues promptly can prevent them from worsening over time.
Sunlight Exposure: Like any natural material, Cypress Pine can undergo slight colour changes when exposed to sunlight. This patina effect, often desired for its character, can be minimized by using UV-protective finishes. ITI strongly encourages the use of a paint colour with a high LRV value.
Avoid Harsh Cleaning Agents: When cleaning, opt for mild, non-abrasive cleaning solutions that won’t compromise the wood’s natural finish.
Cypress Pine’s innate strength and weather-resistant properties make it a remarkable choice for both indoor and outdoor applications. By following these simple maintenance steps, you can ensure that your Cypress Pine surfaces continue to exude their distinctive charm, standing as a testament to both nature’s artistry and your commitment to preserving its enduring beauty.

What is fibre cement?
Fibre Reinforced Cement (FRC), or simply, fibre cement, is a popular building material developed by James Hardie in the early 1980s, when pioneering the use of alternative reinforcing materials to create building products. Hardie ™ fibre cement products are manufactured in Australia, so by choosing James Hardie, you are supporting local.
What is Hardie™ fibre cement made of?
Hardie™ fibre cement is made from a mixture of cement, sand, water and cellulose fibre, sourced from sustainably grown pine trees. Small amounts of other chemical additives are used to help the process or provide products with certain characteristics. This unique mixture of materials helps to build beautiful, low-maintenance and durable home exteriors across Australia.
Some Hardie™ external cladding products look like timber, how are they different?
Hardie™ exterior cladding solutions are engineered to stand up to harsh Australian conditions, including coastal conditions. With products such as Linea™ Weatherboard and Axon™ Cladding, you can harness the features and
charm of traditional weatherboard and vertical-joint timber styles without the hassles of timber and with the benefits of Hardie™ fibre cement. Durable, low maintenance and with broad design potential, Hardie ™ exterior cladding is resistant to shrinking, swelling and cracking and will hold paint longer than wood.

Fine Texture Cladding - Hardie™ Architectural Collection
For the beauty of clean lines and a modern look. The render look feels calming and uncluttered compared with the busyness of a brick wall. Its subtlety aids design by putting the focus on the building’s form, or by allowing bold cladding features to standout.

Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding is a pre-sealed bre cement panel embedded with a ne render texture. It’s durable and lower maintenance than traditional cement render to stay looking good for many years to come.
Use in residential single and medium density buildings including alterations and additions on timber or light gauge steel+ framed buildings.

Oblique™ Cladding - Hardie™ Architectural Collection
Evoke a bold, contemporary aesthetic with the wide grooves and bespoke design exibility of Hardie™ Oblique™ Cladding.
Hardie™ Oblique™ Cladding is the only Hardie™ exterior cladding with a slanted groove edge, delivering highlights and shadows. With two widths available – 200mm and 300mm – the boards can be mixed and matched.
When installed vertically, the 2,750mm length boards suit common wall heights which can help to reduce waste, while the 4,200mm lengths give tall walls a continuous look, reducing the need for horizontal joints.
The horizontal Hardie™ Castellated Battens simplify the installation of the boards in a vertical orientation, allowing ventilation and drainage through the cavity. Install a single width throughout, alternate the two widths, or create custom staggered combinations, delivering a fresh, contemporary aesthetic.
