Firearm Concealed Carry Act Notice The Firearms Concealed Carry Act, which became state law in July 2013 requires an Illinois Concealed Carry License in order to carry a concealed firearm in Illinois. The law forbids carrying a concealed weapon into government buildings, schools and parks. As a requirement of the law, Illinois State Police approved signs indicating the ban are now posted at the Itasca Recreation & Fitness Center and Springbrook Nature Center. Pursuant to 430 ILCS 66/65

Dear Itasca Park District Residents and Patrons, This year the Village of Itasca is celebrating its 125 anniversary.
Congratulations to Itasca!
Each taxing body provides services, protection, education, resources, recreation, opportunities and assistance for the taxpayers.
My husband Jeff has always called Itasca “The end of the rainbow.� If you look at what makes a rainbow you will see 6 bands of color that united become the beautiful sight that it is.
From the Memorial Day Parade to Santa visiting the Itasca Community Library in December the Village of Itasca will be celebrating the 125th anniversary.
Have you ever not stopped and marveled at the sight of a rainbow?
On August 30th the official celebration will take place at the village hall complex.
Without one of the bands you do not have a rainbow. Each band supports the others. The taxing bodies of Itasca, the Village, Fire District, School District, Community Library, Park District AND the residents and patrons make up the 6 bands that become the rainbow. The intergovernmental cooperation is what makes Itasca the outstanding community that it is. They work together for the benefit of the residents and patrons of Itasca and the residents of Wood Dale that live in our school district and park district.

The mission of the Itasca Park District is to efficiently and economically provide education, recreation, facilities and open space that are designed to provide health and wellness, social equity and conservation experiences that benefit the community.
Behavior: Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Itasca Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. The Park District reserves the right to develop additional rules for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff and the park board. Participants shall: ■ Show respect to all participants and staff ■ Refrain from using foul language ■ Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants or staff ■ Refrain from damaging equipment, supplies, and facilities
Accessibility for People With Special Needs The Itasca Park District welcomes the opportunity to assist guests with disabilities to enjoy ALL of our facilities, programs, and services. Any individual with a special need should contact our staff upon registration so that we can make the necessary accommodations. Nothing ruins a good program quicker... than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. There is a point where if there aren’t enough registrants to hold the program, it is cancelled. Coming in the day of or the day before the program won’t resurrect it. Please register one week early to avoid disappointment.

Community Wide Garage Sale Register with the Itasca Park District to participate in a community garage sale. This event offers Itasca residents the opportunity to host a garage sale at their homes. Each home registered will receive a garage sale kit including: an apron, signs, price stickers, and balloons. The sale will be advertised in the Daily Herald. Maps indicating the homes participating in the garage sale will be available at the Itasca Rec Center and Waterpark beginning Monday, June 8th. The garage sale hours will be from 8am-3pm. (KMc) DAY

Spirit of Chicago Lunch Cruise
A Day at the Races
Join the Senior Club as we travel downtown for a relaxing afternoon on the Spirit of Chicago. Enjoy an excellent buffet lunch and listen to the music and entertainment. If the entertainment isn’t for you, head out onto the deck and bask in the sun and the breeze with a cool drink. The boat is docked right at the beginning of the pier, so there will be minimal walking to and from the bus. Trip includes coach bus transportation, buffet lunch with entertainment and a Lake Michigan Cruise. (KM) AGES: 60+yrs
Are you feeling lucky? The Itasca Seniors are heading to the Arlington Park Race Track for the day. The $10 fee is only for individuals who are not members of the Senior Club to cover transportation costs. Senior Club members are free, but must sign up at the monthly luncheons or at the park district to receive the discount. Online registration will not discount the fee. Holocaust Museum Trip Join the Itasca Seniors as we spend the day enjoying and learning at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. The museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust by honoring the memories of those who were lost and by teaching universal lessons that combat hatred, prejudice and indifference. We'll stop at Corner Bakery for lunch before heading to the museum for the afternoon. Lunch is on your own. The Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL are something you have to see to believe. The beautiful pictures don't do this northern Illinois gem justice. Each rock, tree and path has been carefully and thoughtfully placed to create a graceful, elegant, and gentle atmosphere that exemplifies the Japanese cultural heritage of respectful humility. We will enjoy a boxed lunch at the visitor's center and then set off on a guided tour of the grounds. The paths are mostly made of crushed limestone, so wheelchairs are welcomed on this tour, however, there is a bit of walking required. (KM)

Purchase your picture ID pool pass beginning April 1st. All season pool pass holders and their dependents must provide proof of residency/dependency with a utility bill and a 2013 or 2014 income tax form or birth certificates. A family pool pass includes 2 adults and their dependants which reside in that household. Family passes are issued to members of the immediate family only (husband, wife, dependant, non-married sons and daughters) living at the same listed address. Swim Lessons The program offers a curriculum that encourages participants to succeed and develop skills. Swim lessons provide an enjoyable learning experience, teach participants how to be safe in and around the water, and give them a lifelong skill that every person should know. Check each level to choose the correct placement for your swimmer. Instructors reserve the right to place the participant in the class best suited to his or her ability. Additionally, it is not uncommon for participants to spend more than one session in a certain level; please remember this when registering your child for multiple sessions.
Drop-Off Guidelines Parents should bring their child to the pool deck and remain with him/her until the instructor has arrived. Once their child is with his/her teacher, parents should proceed to the designated viewing space which is located in the concession area or up on the ramp. The last day of class, parents are able to view the class on the deck to see what their child has learned. Thank you for your cooperation.
Parent & Tot Swim Lessons These lessons are designed for children ages 1 to 3 years old. Both parent and child will be in the water with the instructor as a group. Classes are meant to familiarize your tot with the water and teach swimming readiness skills while parents will learn how to safely interact with their swimmer in and around the water. Waterpark Concession Dollars If you would like your child to be able to purchase concessions at the pool, you must purchase a concession card at the front desk. You may put as much money on this card as you like. It acts similar to a gift card, but will be linked directly to your camper. This card will be given to the Camp Director and he/she will be responsible for monitoring what campers are purchasing and how much. Camp staff will not be responsible for lost or stolen money, and campers who do not have a concession card will not be permitted to go to concession during pool time. All concession cards will be returned to you to use for the rest of the pool season.

Teen Travel Camp
After Camp Adventure
Teens, this camp is designed just for you! Travel to new and exciting locations with fun-filled activities including bowling, mini-golf, water parks, and much more! Fee includes a teen only field trip every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tuesdays will be spent at the Itasca Water Park and Thursdays are field trips with Camp Adventure. Campers need to bring a lunch, drink, and bathing suit each day. This is the ultimate summer experience for teenagers! NEW THIS YEAR! We’re giving the teens a little more freedom! Every Monday the teens will be given a list of approved field trip locations, and they get to plan their week of fun! Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum Does your child wonder what it would be like to stand right next to a polar bear? This trip to the Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum will allow them to do just that. Located at Benedictine University in Lisle, this museum creates an opportunity for people to get up close to animals you normally would not. All of the animals are taxidermy, and before entering the museum we will have a brief discussion on what that means and what they should expect in the museum. What Animals Eat
Dissecting Owl Pellets
What do bobcats, deer, hedgehogs and other animals eat? Animals can be categorized by their diet! Learn about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores through pictures, animal artifacts, and enjoy creating a scrumptious snack modeled after what some animals eat! (CC)
What's an owl pellet? Owls cough up pellets containing parts of the prey they can’t digest such as bones and fur. Using tweezers and toothpicks, we will pick apart the pellets to locate and identify animal bones. Our pellets are clean and safe to handle! Their dissection is a great way to learn about an owl's diet and discover how food chains work in nature. (CC)

Junior Naturalist Club Do you want to learn more about nature and how we can help protect it? Maybe you like to fish, canoe, hike, camp, and roast marshmallows. If this sounds exciting, you should become a Junior Naturalist (JN). The JN club is a group of kids that love to have a good time and help out. 2015-2016 Registration Enrollment is now open This program follows the Itasca School District #10 calendar A $75 non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit will be required for enrollment in all early childhood programs. Proof of residency will be required for both returning and new students, i.e. Driver’s License or utility bill. All new students will be required to provide a copy of their birth certificate to register for class. Stage Hair & Makeup
Kids will have fun building with LEGOs and finding engineering solutions to some cool problems! Your child will learn about mechanical design while manipulating motors and sensors. Each participant will be teamed with a partner to utilize a laptop computer to program their models. A new design challenge will be presented each day, stimulating your child's creativity. Junior Golf Lessons The Junior Golf program will consist of instruction by a PGA golf professional. U6 Micro Soccer

Micro Soccer is a scaled-down version of the game of soccer specifically designed for young children. Children will play 6 vs. 6 on a smaller soccer field. Coaches are allowed on the field and no score is kept. This program is geared toward children who have mastered Pee Wee Soccer, yet are not old enough to join the Itasca InterVillage Soccer League. Each team will practice a minimum of one day per week. Games will be played each Saturday with surrounding Park Districts. Players need to wear shin guards and bring a size three (3) ball to each practice and game. IPRA Teen Kayak Overnight Don't miss out on this new IPRA sponsored teen only trip! Grab your friends and join other local teens as we head to Morris, IL for an overnight Kayak/Camping adventure. You can bring your own tent or rent one to share with 2-3 friends for $10. The first night we will enjoy swimming, a campfire with s'mores and a movie on a giant blimp screen at dusk. On the second day you'll take off on a 2-hour guided 2-person kayak adventure down the Illinois River or Mazon Creek depending on the water conditions. Safe Sitter This class will help you land babysitting jobs and make you feel confident to babysit. This medically accurate babysitting training program is designed for young adolescents to prepare them for the responsibilities of nurturing and protecting children. Stage 1 This class offers novices and beginners an introduction to the fundamentals

Japanese Garden The Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL are something you have to see to believe. The beautiful pictures don't do this northern Illinois gem justice. Each rock, tree and path has been carefully and thoughtfully placed to create a graceful, elegant, and gentle atmosphere that exemplifies the Japanese cultural heritage of respectful humility. We will enjoy a boxed lunch at the visitor's center and then set off on a guided tour of the grounds. Caring and qualified staff will watch over your children in a safe environment while you run errands, keep personal appointments, or if you just need a break. All children must be between the ages of six weeks and six years old. Parents of children who may need to have their child’s diaper changed must fill out a separate waiver. (AM)

Suspension Training Small Group Classes TRX is a great method of functional training for all fitness levels. Clients will use the suspension trainer and their own body weight to perform different exercises for all muscle groups controlling the intensity by adjusting their body position and angle. Increase total body strength and flexibility; and develop core stability. Classes are instructed by staff that has been trained and certified to use TRX Training. (LN) AGE: 16yrs+
Looking for a way to get some exercise, have fun and fulfill your goal of participating in a 5K? Condition yourself to race three miles safely and effectively in this 10-week, walk-to-run program. Dr. Erin Ducat and her team at Ducat Chiropractic & Sports Medicine lead each session that includes educational workshops on proper stretching, shoes, equipment, heart rate monitoring and strengthening. Water is provided and pace leaders are CPR certified. Please wear comfortable clothing with athletic socks/shoes. Participants should be able to comfortably walk for 30 minutes before starting the program and upon completion will be able to run 3.1 miles. Those who want to continue their running can participate in the 5 Weeks to 5 Miles program in Bloomingdale this fall. AGE: All

How to Register

Registration will begin on Monday, May 4th. Registration will continue until the class is filled or needs to be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or individual program deadlines. Mail-in registration for the Fitness Center and aerobics classes will not be accepted. Itasca Park District Residents will need proof of residency and children in their household to register for the first time beginning December 1st.
Waivers In accordance with Recreation Department policy, all program participants must sign a hold-harmless agreement prior to participation in Department sponsored programs. The waivers are on the reverse side of the program registration form and must be signed by adults participating in adult programs; and by a parent or legal guardian for children under 18 years of age.
In Case of Oops! Complete details of program policies, procedures, and guidelines are sometimes omitted from the program brochures because of space limitations. Also, errors in days, times, registration requirements and fees may occur as well. We apologize for any errors that may appear in the brochure. We thank you for your patience and understanding when these situations arise.
A. All requests for refunds must be submitted in person or by phone two business days prior to the first class meeting or practice of program. Trips require reservations weeks ahead of time and therefore do not allow us to refund. Please see staff for individual trip policies. B. Individuals requesting refunds with two or more business days notice prior to the first class, meeting or practice will receive a 100% refund, less $10 for administrative costs. C. No refunds will be issued for any programs after the first meeting of a program, unless a physician’s excuse is presented. Refunds requested for medical reasons will be prorated from the time the request is received. D. A refund will not be given to programs that cost less than $15. The amount will be applied to another class or a voucher given for future use.
Insurance Policy The Itasca Park District does not provide medical coverage for injuries suffered while participating in park district programs, or while using park facilities. The park district, therefore, cannot assume responsibility for personal injury for persons participating in recreation programs or using facilities. Persons are advised to make provisions for this coverage in their family insurance program.
Fee Information Due to liability concerns, all individuals wishing to participate in any park district program must pay the registration fee listed in the brochure prior to the start of the first class. Any individual who is unable to pay the registration fee must contact the Superintendent of Recreation to set up a payment plan. No phone registration will be accepted. Individuals not paying full program registration fee, or those on payment plans will be assessed a 10% service charge if any payment is late.
Itasca Recreation Center Rental The Itasca Recreation Center may be reserved for private use during non-program hours. Groups and individuals should contact the park district at 630-773-2257 or visit www.itasca.com/rentals for more information. A Security Deposit is required in order to hold a date. If cancellation occurs within 10 days prior to rental, deposit will be retained. See contract for refund policies.
Cooperation The park district wishes to acknowledge the cooperation of the Village of Itasca and the Itasca School District #10 for enabling the park district to provide numerous year-round recreational activities. The park district is permitted to use the school facilities when not used by the schools. For this reason there may be occasional changes in the schedule.
