The Michelangelo Foundation The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is a private, international, non-profit foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. Established by Johann Rupert and Franco Cologni, the Michelangelo Foundation’s mission is to preserve, encourage and promote fine craftsmanship.
Homo Faber: an unforgettable journey through contemporary European design and craftsmanship Homo Faber took place from 14 to 30 September 2018 at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, organized by the “Michelangelo Foundation”, based in Switzerland. Audiences, art masters, designers, experts and critics have enthusiastically welcomed this initiative, which they described as an incredible opportunity to discover the best of Europe's art professions. The debut of Homo Faber was received with enthusiasm and participation, attracting 62,500 visitors to the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, and 13 curators for 16 exhibitions. About 900 author objects were created by 410 between art masters and designers in 35 countries, to represent the excellence of high craftsmanship in Europe. 91 art masters demonstrated their savoir faire live. 105 students from 26 European schools of applied arts and design shared

Thus the Foundation seeks to facilitate connections between European master artisans and a conscious, curious clientele, enabling the latter to discover – either directly or through digital experience – the workshops, ateliers and artisanal businesses active throughout distinct regions and territories. To safeguard the competitive advantage of the artisanal sector, which produces objects that reflect the human character of creativity and make our lives more beautiful, the Michelangelo Foundation fosters exchange and collaboration between fine craftsmanship and design, and between master artisans and those who commission bespoke creations. The ultimate aim is to encourage the growth of a new cultural movement, one which would bring with it both social and economic rewards, most notably increased employment opportunities for artisans. Furthermore, through its dynamic and multinational network, the Michelangelo Foundation cultivates synergies to stimulate ideas, exchange and new projects.

A VISUAL PROTEST. The art of Banksy - Diary of a traveler Banksy, an English artist and writer whose identity remains hidden, is considered one of the greatest exponents of contemporary street art. His works are often characterized by a satirical background and deal with universal topics such as politics, culture and ethics. The halo of mystery that, by choice and necessity, feeds itself when talking about the figure of Banksy makes it become a real myth of our times. His visual protest involves a huge and heterogeneous audience and makes him one of the most loved artists of the younger generations. Several exhibitions on Banksy have already been organized in art galleries and exhibition spaces, but never before has an Italian public museum hosted a monograph so far. The MUDEC-Museum of Cultures in Milan for the first time hosts a retrospective of its English artist in its rooms. It will be an exhibition not authorized by the artist, like all those dedicated to him before, as Banksy continues to defend his anonymity and independence from the system. "A Visual Protest. The Art of Banksy ", on display at MUDEC from 21 November 2018, is an exhibition project curated by Gianni Mercurio, which will collect around 80 works including paintings, numbered prints (limited editions by the artist), accompanied by objects, photographs and videos, about 60 vinyl covers and music CDs designed by him and forty memorabilia (lithographs, stickers, prints, magazines, fanzines, promotional flyers, which will tell, through a retrospective look, Banksy's work and thought. its academic and unusual way, but consistent with the mission of a museum like MUDEC, that is to provide every audience with the keys to understand (and appreciate) the world's cultures and the great contemporary themes through all the arts visual, performative and sound. MUDEC Born from an industrial archeology recovery operation in the area of the former Ansaldo factory, in the Tortona area, MUDEC is a meeting place between cultures and communities.
