Early Years

Our Pre-KG students invited their parents into school to celebrate the end of their "Dinosaur Detectives" topic, to showcase their learning.

They had a fossil excavation, fed meat-eating, and plant-eating Dinosaurs, and explored icy Dino eggs, all while dressed up as paleontologists! Parents were so happy to celebrate this exit point with their children. It was the first one they have been invited to be a part of at school and this made the day memorable.

At The Hamilton international School, learning is engaging and fun. KG1 students have been exploring travel and the world around us, as part of their "Going Places" topic. Parents were invited to come into school during the unit, so that children could information about their home nations.

The topic ended with a celebration in our Black Box Theatre. Children performed two songs on stage and then students and parents were able to participate in activities from the unit including: travel airport role play, travel and around the world reading, making planes, and exploring the storybook: Where The Wild Things are.

KG1 enjoyed celebrating the start of their “Animal Rescue” topic together dressed as jungle animals.

Children took part in a catwalk to show off their costumes before exploring the different habitats they learnt about over the unit: desert, ice, jungle, and safari.

Children finished the morning with some animal dance, movement, and games in the dance studio.

Over the unit, children explored each habitat and the animals that live there.

Primary

This term, our KG2 students explored the unit "Superhuman".

The children learned all about their five senses and how they work. During our Exit Point, the children took the lead and enjoyed blind folding their parents for each activity that they took part in.

These included, a tasting, smelling, sight test, a "feely" board, and listening activity using iPads.

The children identified what their superpower was based on their five senses, and also created fabulous masks and shields for our Exit Point.

The Grade 1 final Exit Point was a celebration of our learning in the topic "From A to B". Students thoroughly enjoyed their time designing and creating their futuristic vehicles. These projects were paraded through the theatre for all parents to see.

Students were able to discuss and describe their design choices and name the futuristic characteristics of their vehicles. Each of the classes presented different learning by showing posters and displaying their book of work. They also demonstrated knowledge through creating and organized games and trivia for parents. They showed an incredible large-scale historical timeline and talked about transportation in other parts of the world.

The grand finale had all the students on stage for a beautiful rendition of wheels on the bus!

In IPC, our Grade 2 students extensively learnt about the wonderful lives and traditions of the Ancient Egyptians.

They learned about kingdoms; the Pharaohs, the birth of the modern written recorded word with hieroglyphics; the process of Mummification; the Geography of Egypt; Farming methods; and Fashion.

Recently, students and their parents celebrated the exit point of this topic with a big event where students came dressed up as Pharaohs.

For their IPC topic "Chocolate", our Grade 2 students became scientists.

They went into the science labs and took part in 5 different experiments that were related to chocolate and their 5 senses. It was a fun and tasty day!

For their Exit Point on Chocolate, the students shared the chocolates that they had designed and made.

The children chose to make either dark, milk or white chocolates. They had the choice of several different ingredients to add their chocolate and could choose different shaped molds to use. They also designed and made their own chocolate wrapper and created an advert to convince the parents that their chocolate was the best!

On arrival, the parents were given 3 Golden Tickets and they got to taste 3 different chocolates made by the children. The parents voted for their favorite chocolate and the winner from each class received a prize.

In IPC, our Grade 3 students were focused on the new topic of ‘Fashion’.

For their Entry Point, the teachers chose to do fashion show showcasing the students’ favorite outfits. The students loved wearing their favorite clothes to school and showed great confidence and enthusiasm walking on the stage during the fashion show.

During the IPC unit, the students will learnt about how fashion has changed over time, what clothes around the world are like and how to create tie-dye t-shirts.

We look forward to seeing the amazing creativity the students in Grade 3 will show in their Exit Point.

For the Grade 3 Exit Point, parents were invited into the Black Box Theatre for an amazing fashion show.

Our Grade 5 students learnt about different Myths and Legends from around the world. students researched popular myths and found out about the moral messages associated with each story - including showing kindness, avoiding vanity and not valuing materialistic items.

At the end of their topic, the students performed the following myths: The Children of Lir, King Midas, and the Golden touch and Medusa.

Students worked diligently and collaboratively to learn their lines and they put on a spectacular performance.

At the end of the show, students also performed Budapest by George Ezra and it was an amazing show!

For Grade 5’s final IPC topic - Climate Control, students learnt about global warming and the impact of climate change on Earth.

Students shared their knowledge on how to reduce carbon emissions at their Climate Control Exit Point.

Parents and students were taught how to reduce their carbon footprint by upcycling, creating home composts and by eating less meat.

Parents got to test their knowledge of global warming, taste vegan snacks and see students creative and interesting upcycled projects.

Grade 5 is Getting a Taste of Secondary

Recently, our Grade 5 students and their parents attended an orientation event hosted by the Head of Secondary Mrs. Gough.

Mrs. Gough, made sure to go through all the points and changes our students will face when the next academic year starts.

Students in Grade 6 introduced the secondary department and took the Grade 5's on a wonderful tour through all their classes, laboratories, design rooms, and the subjects.

Our Grade 5 students had a wonderful time and are ready to become a part of our secondary school.

Secondary The Secondary department finished the school year with an award assembly for academic excellence for every grade level.

Students were recognized for their effort and continuous work.

Arabic In Arabic, our Grade 6 students have been studying about Jerusalem.

To close the topic the Arabic Department organized an event to showcase the learning that took place.

Many activities were included in the event such as dancing, acting, and poetry.

Parents and students had an incredible time getting to know about the History of Jerusalem and understanding it's importance.

Hot Chocolate Thursday We love Thursdays!

We are so proud of our students and their outstanding performances in all areas.

Our principal Mr. Senior is so happy to have smiling faces filling his office every week, as part of our Hot Chocolate Thursdays.

Omani Delegation The Hamilton International School received a delegation from the Ministry of Education of the Sultanate of Oman. Hamilton was selected by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as one of the top private schools in Qatar, and asked to share best practices with the delegates.
