What's new?

Inclusion Acceptance Day Inclusion Acceptance Day at Hamilton celebrated how we are all unique as Individuals, represented using our funky socks.

Not only are we unique as individuals we also learn and develop in unique ways.

Our Inclusion department ran a circuit of activities exploring the zones of regulation, alternative teaching and learning methods, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

Students were really engaged and enjoyed themselves and left with a greater understanding of what it means to be inclusive and to be unique.

Inclusion at Hamilton is a way of thinking.

It's not a program that we run or a classroom in our school, or a favor we do for someone.

Inclusion is who we are. It is who we must strive to be.

What's on in Hamilton KG2 Exit Point During our Superhumans Exit Point, the children were so excited to showcase their learning.

We set up 5 different stations- 1 for each sense.

The children lead all the activities and our wonderful parents were excellent at taking part.

The stations were tasting fruits blinded folded, touching different materials, listening to different sounds, smelling different spices and labelling correctly and our final station was an eye test, throwing beanbags blindfolded into hoops.

Grade 2 - Guest Speaker Grade 2 students have been learning all about chocolate in their IPC Chocolate unit.

They had a special visitor from the Chocolate factory in Qatar. They had the opportunity to see, touch and smell real cocoa pods and cocoa beans.

They also learnt about the art of eating chocolate and most importantly tasted different flavours of chocolate!

What's on in Hamilton Grade 2 - Theme Thursday In the spirit of Theme Thursday and as part of our Qatar History topic ‘Services in our country’, Grade 2 students honored the invaluable service workers in our country of Qatar.

Our students discussed the significance of these important people in our community and shared their appreciation by writing letters to their home countries about the wonderful services we have here.

School Song Recording Students from across the school have been selected to record our Hamilton School Song ‘Hamilton in Us’ at Atelier Studios in the Gate Mall. It is a really exciting project to be involved in and a great opportunity to make something special for the whole school to enjoy.

There will be two practice sessions with Mr. Jugue and Mr. McKeown before the students head to the recording studio on Sunday 11th June.

What's on in Hamilton Hamilton Environmental Summit The Secondary Intervention students have been learning all about transactional writing.

They created their own persuasive speeches to create awareness of Global Warming and Climate Change.

They included a variety of writing techniques such as emotive language and facts to both engage and persuade the audience.

The students performed their speeches in front of parents and staff – encouraging them to make small lifestyle changes that would have a big impact on our environment!

Grade 9 & Grade 10 - Music Night On Tuesday evening this week, we hosted our second High School Music Night of the year.

This was a great opportunity for our High School Band and Keyboard students to showcase their talents in front of peers and parents.

The progress that these students have made throughout the year was evident in their performances and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Well done to all of the performers!

Hamilton House Launch - AY23/24 Dear Parents, We are delighted to announce the launch of the Hamilton House System next academic year.

Houses offer students a real sense of belonging and camaraderie, with the opportunity to take part in friendly competitions throughout the year. The system will develop and foster attributes such as compassion and being gracious, determination and resilience as well as responsibility to others and kindness.

Mr. Brittle will take a leading role as the Head of Houses and with that, the development of our students’ character and values. He will be supported by four House Leaders from across Primary, Secondary and Inclusion, who will represent each House. Students will play a significant role in developing the House system. There will be opportunities for student leadership, in the form of House Captains, Vice Captains and more…

Each house will be assigned its own colour which students can wear during House Challenge Days. We will be allocating each student a House for the next academic year and all siblings will be in the same House.

But we have one major problem…we do not have a name for each house…yet! We need our Hamilton community to generate lots of ideas and share them on our school Padlet page using the QR code or link below by Thursday 15th June.

As we have a lion as our mascot, could you link your ideas to the acronym - L I O N? Could it link to Qatar? Could it inspirational figures? Think outside of the box and be creative.

Dear Parents/Guardians, It has been an amazing academic year spreading love for reading across the whole school.

Seeing the joy on our students’ faces enjoying and celebrating our World Book Day, Author Visits, and Book Week festivities. Our students Charged headfirst and challenged their friends at Hamilton and all the ISP schools in our ISP Reading Challenge and Reading Eggs competition which was very exciting and motivating to witness!

Even though we are getting closer to the end of the school’s Academic Year, we encourage our students to further explore their favorite genres by visiting their local libraries in the summer (attached is a list of libraries you can find in Qatar!). Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that Reading Eggs and I Read Arabic, Reading programs used for our primary students, will continue to be available in the summer!

Tune in to our Reading Eggs and I Read Arabic programs to support your child’s reading progress over the summer! kindly review the below information and pass it on to your son/daughter.

Library and Guided Reading books: Kindly note there will be no further borrowing of library books after the 1st of June 2023.

Students will still have access to library books and will use them in school only.

All Guided Reading books to be returned to Classroom teacher by the 8th of June 2023.

These books will then be used in class only.

Please ensure your child returns their school books, especially if they are leaving the school.

The library will be closed from Sunday 18th June to ensure that all resources are checked in and registered before the end of the school year.

Yearbook on Sale Update!

We are pleased to announce that you can now pre-order the 2022-23 Yearbook until Sunday, June 18th.

Our Yearbook will be available in hardcopy format only.

To pre-order: please visit our finance office and pay 100 QR or on Qtickets for 110QR You can collect your pre-ordered copy from school from August 1st onwards.

NOTE: If you order the yearbook and your family leaves The Hamilton International School, please arrange for someone to collect your copy and send/deliver it to you.

Scholarship

We are delighted to announce, for the fourth year, The Hamilton Principal’s Award. The award recognizes a current student (Grade 5 to Grade 10) who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievements and provides them with a scholarship of 50% of their tuition fees.

The successful applicant will: Exhibit exceptional academic progress (getting better) Have positively contributed to the school community.

Provide a personal statement.

Provide evidence of progress from their teacher.
