What's new? 9th Qatar International Mental Health Conference The Qatar International Mental Health Conference held last week brought together mental health professionals, educators, and policymakers from around the world to discuss the latest developments in mental health research and advocacy. Among the distinguished speakers was our Principal, Mr Terry Senior, who shared his insights and our school’s experiences promoting mental health awareness among students, staff and the wider community. In his keynote address, Mr. Senior highlighted the importance of early intervention and prevention in addressing mental health issues in our school community. He emphasized the measures we take as a school to provide a safe and supportive environment that fosters resilience, self-esteem, and positive relationships. He also stressed the role of teachers, pastoral leaders, school counsellor and parents in recognizing and responding to signs of distress and the campaigns we do to raise awareness. "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care," said Mr. Senior. "By creating a culture of care and compassion, we help students develop the skills and attitudes they need to cope with the challenges of life and build a brighter future."

What's on in Hamilton KG1 Exit Point KG1 children have been learning all about Space during our current topic, Blast Off. The children have been learning the names of different planets, they observed an experiment which demonstrated the different moon phases, and we went star gazing in the sensory room. The children also watched videos about astronauts in space and discussed what it might be like to live without gravity. On Thursday the 1st of June, the children celebrated the end of this topic with a “Stay and Play” Exit Point. As part of this Exit Point, children and parents were invited to do a project or craft activity about Space and present it in front of the class. The children had a fantastic time exploring activities related to the topic and ended by performing the song “Zoom, zoom we’re going to the Moon” that they learned in Music. Well done, Superstars! Grade 2 - Dress Up Day This week, to kick off Theme Thursdays, we celebrated ‘David Walliams Day’. David Walliams is an incredible author that our students have been studying over the past week. The students were invited to dress up as their favorite David Walliams character, wear something related to his books or even David Walliams himself. We then spent the morning exploring David Walliams’ books, discussing their character costumes and his writing.

Lost & Found Procedures for Parent The Lost and Found Committee at Hamilton International is made up of parent volunteers that help to sort and organize any items that are left at school by students. Parents, please label your children’s uniform items, PE kit, lunch boxes, and water bottles. This is the easiest way to ensure that they will be returned to the student. Please include their first and last name written legibly. The Lost and Found is housed under the staircase in Reception. Please feel free to look through the Lost and Found to claim your child’s items. Only take things that belong to you. Unlabeled and unclaimed items are either sold at our Parent Council Lost and Found Sale, donated, or thrown out if they are in poor condition every Winter, Spring, and Summer Break. The Parents Council will host a Lost and Found sale at the end of semester 1 and 2. The proceeds will go back to the Parents Council to fund additional events and initiatives. Parents, please take responsibility for labeling items and/or finding items that have become lost. This way our collection of lost and found items stays small and easy to manage for our volunteers. Thank you!
Scholarship We are delighted to announce, for the fourth year, The Hamilton Principal’s Award. The award recognizes a current student (Grade 5 to Grade 10) who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievements and provides them with a scholarship of 50% of their tuition fees. The successful applicant will: Exhibit exceptional academic progress (getting better) Have positively contributed to the school community. Provide a personal statement. Provide evidence of progress from their teacher. Our Yearbook will be available in hardcopy format only. To pre-order, please visit our finance office and pay 100 QR. You can collect your pre-ordered copy from school from August 1st onwards. Please note that after August 1st, the Yearbook can be purchased for QR 120 and sold on a firstcome, first-served basis until stocks last. NOTE: If you order the yearbook and your family leaves The Hamilton International School, please arrange for someone to collect your copy and send/deliver it to you.
