Dear Hamilton Family,
We are delighted to welcome you all back to Hamilton in 2023. We hope you all had a wonderful, extended winter break and that you managed to enjoy time with family and friends.
The World Cup may have finished, but 2023 has certainly kicked off in spectacular fashion at our school. Our International Student Day was our biggest and best yet! “Success is best when it’s shared” is a quote which comes to mind. The contributions from our parents, effort from our students and preparation from our staff all culminated to produce an extremely successful day, which will live long in the memory for all of us. It was a true community event. Read more about it later in our newsletter.
The students have returned with such energy and commitment which has really helped them pick up where they left off before the break. Their behavior, attitude towards learning and enjoyment of school can be felt across the campus. This month we had a visit from the ISP Director of Learning for the Middle East and the Group Senior Director of Learning. Their observations mirrored our feedback from the MOEHE, NEASC accreditors and our internal self-reviews - they left with the knowledge that Hamilton is a truly wonderful, learning focused school with an atmosphere and culture which is not easy to find in other schools.
This month, we have also led exciting parent workshops for Primary, Secondary and Inclusion, which includes topics like Arabic teaching and learning practices, Occupational Therapy, reports guidance, restorative behavior techniques, Science and English. In addition to our daily amazing learning experiences, assessments, and Entry / Exit Points this month, we have other exciting events on the horizon. We are hosting and attending a range of sports matches, Doha Players are set to take to the Hamilton stage to perform ‘Blood Brothers’ and our new ECA program has been launched.
Hamilton also have a unique opportunity to partner with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). They are engaged in a research project based on collaborative play between children on the Autism Spectrum and their neuro typical peers. They are conducting their research at Hamilton, and you are welcome to support this study if you wish. The aim of the study is to develop a tangible sensory tool which encourages collaborative play.
We all believe that our first month of the calendar year is a flavor of things to come, with your child being at the heart of everything we do. The best schools are built around a committed school community and your continuous support does not go unnoticed. We wish you all a fantastic year ahead.

KG2 Entry Point
Our KG2 students started their new IPC topic, "Water," and all their lessons for the upcoming two weeks will be focused on that theme.
In this unit, they will be focusing on Science, Technology and history to reach their learning goals.
Students will be reading, researching, writing, illustrating, and working in groups.
During their Entry Point, students enjoyed splashing and doing some fun water activities.
Grade 3 Exit Point
Our Grade 3 students welcomed parents to visit their "Living Museum" for their "They Made A Difference" exit point.
Children researched people who made a difference and created their own unique presentation to share in our living museum. Parents enjoyed exploring the museum and learning about figures past and present who have influenced the way we live today.
Grade 4 Entry Point
Our Grade 4 students kicked off their new topic of "Earth as an Island" by thinking about the human impact on the world. After watching a short advert to inspire them, they t had to start designing their own advert focused on trying to save the planet.
They kept in mind two things: recycling and reducing what they use. Students also began designing paper t-shirts and those designs will be painted onto actual t-shirts for their Exit Point.
They had fun designing both the adverts and the t-shirts and we can't wait to see the outcome at the exit point.

This area will help children develop both a sense of the independence of their own country and culture and the independence between countries and cultures.
It Takes Two to Talk
Our Inclusion therapy team organized a coffee morning for our parents to introduce them to their new program.
It Takes Two to Talk is a program for parents of children who have language delays.
Parents are the most important people in their child’s life. One of the greatest gifts parents can give their child is the help he or she needs to communicate and connect with the world. In the It Takes Two to Talk Program, parents will learn practical and powerful strategies to help their children communicate and interact during everyday routines and activities.
Parents introduced themselves, shared their own stories of speech delays, and got the chance to sign up in the program.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DAY
The Hamilton International School hosted the most exciting event of the year this January.
Our parents went above and beyond in organizing the whole thing. They prepared amazing stalls for each country offering food, games, and souvenirs. Also, all the students and staff had to march in a parade showing their pride, as the National Anthems of their countries played.
Our students had the chance to learn about different cultures, languages, and traditions, as they had the opportunity to taste food from around the world in one place and on one day.
We are so proud of the 80 different nationalities that we have in our community. They all came together and worked hard to make the day memorable for everyone.”
THIS SKILLS
THIS Skills is an exciting opportunity to delve deeper into the interests of our children while extending their learning to improve, enhance and develop skills, knowledge and well-being. Opportunities to enrich our students are plentiful and could include writing a song, baking, 3D printing, STEM investigations or debate. THIS Skills is purposeful and enticing and an opportunity to further develop and embed the IPC Personal Learning Goals – enquiry, thoughtfulness, cooperation, respect, communication, adaptability, resilience and morality. Attributes which we believe will be essential for children in an ever-changing world.
Hot Chocolate Thursday
Thursday is our favorite day of the week at The Hamilton International School.
Our stars of the week students get invited to the principal's office to have a cup of warm hot chocolate with Mr.Senior as a reward for being outstanding.
