CHATTERING CHILDREN In our KG1 unit 'Chattering Children,' students and their families created incredible hats for their lively Mad Hatter tea party. In this unit, students were encouraged to communicate verbally through engaging lessons and activities. The Mad Hatter party was the culmination of learning about expression and our students enthusiastically participated in fruitful chatter and comical riddles. The highlight of the party was when each class stepped onto the stage and performed songs or short skits in line with the theme of a tea party, full of colorful conversation.

In Pre-KG's unit 'Going Places' students have been learning about different modes of transportation.

KG1 students have been practicing pencil control skills and writing short sentences. KG2 students have learnt about oceans around the world and their distinct habitats.

In ICT, Grade 1 students are exploring algorithms and how they are used in today’s technology. Grade 2 experimented with fingerprinting and analyzing evidence to solve crimes in their mystery writing unit. In Music, Grade 4 students have started playing the xylophone.

In Science, students have been enjoying lab time by testing their hypotheses through experimenting with oxidation. Grade 6 have continued to focus on poems, moving beyond structure and involving only syllabic patterns. In Music, students have begun playing the guitar.

Our Grade 3 students were challenged with finding recycled materials from home and converting them to artistic masterpieces.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES I AM AN ISP SCIENTIST As an International Schools Partnership (ISP) school, learning is at the heart of everything we do. As a global group of schools, our students benefit from being part of a wider international community, providing a wealth of learning and cultural opportunities. Our International Learning Opportunities (ILOS) give students the chance to connect with other ISP students from around the world.

"I am an ISP Scientist" is a new ILOS project, launching in 2021. ISP students aged 8-14 are invited to participate in a real-world STEM research project through citizen science, enabling them to: • Connect classroom learning to real research • Develop greater understanding of scientific methodology • Participate in enquiry-based learning • Practise transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork and communication The project also includes inspiring opportunities to engage with STEM professionals behind cutting-edge scientific innovation and discovery, encouraging ISP students to consider and explore a wide range of STEM careers.

The theme for this year will be plastic pollution, and we are partnering with the fantastic team at Ellipsis Earth to enable ISP students to use cutting edge technology to help map the journey of missing plastic and identify trends to help influence environmental change.

Enrolment is open to ISP students aged 8 - 14 years old. More details on this exciting program will follow.

ENRICHMENT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES Our students are having an incredible time and enjoying the multitude of enrichment activities, delivered by our amazing teachers, directly after school. Whether it is debating deforestation, challenging a chess partner or competing in one of the many sporting activities, our students are having fun excising their body and minds.

TENNIS TOURNAMENT In celebration of National Sports Day, Hamilton is excited to partner with the Alfardan Group to host an adult and students Tennis Tournament. The tournament is open to all Alfardan resident, and the Hamilton community, with no associated entry fees.

If you wish to participate, kindly express your interest to Mr. Edwards at sedwards@this.qa by 2nd February.

Enrollment is currently open to men and children under 12, however, if there are female players who would like to participate, please express your interest to Mr. Edwards via email, ClassDojo or MS Teams.

There will be a draw for player placement and the first-round matches will begin on Friday 5th February at 5:30 pm at the Alfardan Gardens 2 compound courts. The semi-final and final will be hosted at Hamilton on Saturday 20th February starting at 10:00 am.

CRAZY MASK DAY Our students had so much fun modeling their innovative mask designs for Hamilton's Crazy Mask Day. Fun inclass fashion shows provided a creative way for students to share their design concepts and express their understanding about the need to safeguard their classmates and friends.

EARLY YEARS MAD HATTER TEA PARTY

EARLY YEARS WATER WORLD Our KG2 students have been learning about water in our world. They have learnt about the oceans, rivers, lakes and ponds and then learnt about the wildlife that lives within these habitats. Currently they are discovering where water comes from and studying the water cycle. Fun and messy play, neatly reinforces the classroom lessons, making the holistic approach impactful.

ELEMENTARY AD 900 As part of our AD 900 topic, Grade 5 have been learning about the Kingdom of Benin. Benin was renowned for their elaborate and skilled craftmanship. Beautiful bronze plaques, masks and sculptures were a specialty. Grade 5 have designed and created their own Benin inspired animal tiles. Concepts were based on Benin's spiritual beliefs on animals. Crocodiles were known as 'policeman of the waters' and associated with Olokun, god of the water. Snakes symbolized the power of Osan, the god of nature. Eagles and mudfish also featured regularly in artworks.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CREATIVE COMPETITIONS What better way to start new units than to have an entire day of stimulating and educational challenges? Our Middle School students were tasked with several engaging assignments. For example, teams competed in designing a sustainable clothing line out of composted plastic sheets, paper plates and aluminum foil. Other teams competed in transporting a tennis ball, handsfree, across the sports field with only using sectional piping. Tower building, city design and other thought provoking exercises inspired Amazing Learning, and a few laughs as well.
