Celebrating Francophonie Day at NIS One of the most awaited events at Nibras International school is the Francophonie Day. For this year's celebration, the school hosted a French Café for all students from Grades 1 to 5. The event was an exciting opportunity for our students to learn more about the French language and culture in a fun and interactive way.

During the event, students were encouraged to wear French-themed clothing. They wore berets, scarves, or striped shirts to show their support for the event. In addition, students brought French breakfast items such as croissants, macarons, cupcakes, fromage, and fruits to share with their classmates.

Apart from the festivities, students also participated in various competitions such as singing a French song, performing a traditional French dance, and creating 3D models of French food, famous French landmarks, and 3D maps of France.

We thank our NIS families for showing their support to the event.

April 27, 2023 Parent Academy: Course Selection

NIS Students Participate in AUD - Model United Nations At NIS, we put relentless focus on each student's ability to amaze. This is why we offer co-curricular clubs as part of our students' weekly schedule.

One of the co-curricular clubs we have for our Secondary students is the Model United Nations (MUN).

After weeks of preparation, students of the MUN Club participated in the three-day Model United Nations (MUN) Conference at American University Dubai (AUD).

Under guidance from Mr. James Mahor and Mr. Wilfred Burrows, our delegates performed extremely well, with two of them winning awards.

Omar, a Grade 12 student, won the award of the overall Best Moderator, outperforming all other chairs and cochairs from different schools. Magd, another Senior, took home the Best Orator award. Both students are to be commended as the competition from the other schools was tough. Congratulations, students!

Celebrating World Book Day and Dr. Seuss Day at NIS "There is no one alive who is you-er than you," said Dr. Seuss famously, and our community really lived this as they dressed up as their favorite book character.

At Nibras, we celebrate Dr. Seuss Day and World Book Day every year, and it is a great reminder of just how fun learning can be.

Pajama Day in Secondary As we approach the halfway mark of the academic year, our goal is to make school fun and interesting for our students. For this very reason, we had a Pajama Day in the Secondary Department.

On this day, students came to school wearing their favorite pajamas, hooded plush sleepwears, and character slippers.

Some of our Secondary teachers also joined in on the fun and wore their favorite pajamas too!

Recognizing the IXL Students of the Month Congratulations to our IXL students of the month!

IXL or I Excel is an online platform that helps students practice answering English and Math questions.

We recognized the students who performed well and who answered more than a thousand correct questions.

The top three Elementary students who answered 5,000 or more correct questions received a gold certificate and free movie tickets from Q Cinemas, Dubai Investment Park.

Celebrating Haq El Laila Day At Nibras we are proud to have over 84 different nationalities in our school. Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for our community to share details and traditions from their various cultures.

We are always most excited to learn about and celebrate the Emirati culture.

Our Islamic students from the Elementary Department visited the Al Shindagha Museum to celebrate Hag El Laila Day. Haq Al Leila is an Emirati tradition that is usually held 15 days before Ramadan. During this day, children collect treats from their neighbors as a way to educate them about the value of sharing during the holy month of Ramadan.

NIS Community Celebrates Mother Tongue Day We celebrated International Mother Tongue Day at NIS by inviting our parents into our school to read in their own mother tongue language. Our students had the chance to listen to books read in over 16 different languages.

This shows that at NIS, our students develop a sense of themselves and the world around them, making connections within and between cultures.

Re-enrollment and Siblings Admissions for 2023 - 2024 Academic Year Now Open At NIS, we value the strong partnership that we have built with our parent community.

As a current member of our amazing school community, we are please to inform you that the reenrollment process for the upcoming 2023 - 2024 academic year has now begun.

With our seats for returning students becoming limited and competitive, we strongly request parents to inform us of their intentions as early as possible. Please secure your children's places here if you have not done so.

Ramadan Morning Assembly Our Islamic students in the Elementary Department hosted two morning assemblies to discuss the importance of Ramadan.

Through performances, they explained why Muslims fast during Ramadan and the different do's and don'ts we should follow during the holy month.

NIS Parent Academy: Transitioning to the Next Grade Level Thank you to our parents who attended the two parent workshops this month about student transitions.

In the first workshop, Ms. Althea Edmondson, the Head of Elementary, Ms. Louise Allen, the Assistant Head of Lower Elementary, and Ms. Hannelie Cranko, the Assistant Head of Upper Elementary talked about the changes students will experience when they move to the next grade level in Elementary.

For the second session, Mr. Jason Sanservino, the Head of Secondary, and Ms. Sabina Pecoraro, the Assistant Head of Secondary and Dean of Academics discussed the key points students and their parents should consider when applying to universities and the differences in Middle School and High School.

March 2023 Highlights

Mother's Day Breakfast Picnic Many of our mothers joined us at school as we hosted our UAE Mother's Day Breakfast Picnic in our Elementary school. Our students also made lovely cards and prepared a special song for their mothers.

Secondary French Day The students of Ms. Samira Oukid hosted a Francophonie Day for the teachers and students in the Secondary Department. They prepared activities, food and games for everyone to enjoy.

MAP Quiz Bowl Our Secondary Department hosted a MAP Quiz Bowl for our Middle School students. The Quiz Bowl tested the knowledge of our Grades 6 to 8 students on Math, Science and English.

Elementary Spelling Bee Our Elementary Department hosted a Spelling Bee for our KG to Grade 5 students to help develop their vocabulary and public speaking skills.
