ANNOUNCEMENT NIS Padel Courts Now Open

The Return of the NIS Community Iftar After three years, the annual NIS Community Iftar has made its return and we want to thank the entire community for their overwhelming support.

Ramadan is all about sharing and caring, and our NIS community all gathered together that evening to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan.

We would like to thank our Parent Advisory Board and our Islamic Department for organizing the Iftar this year. We also had some great members of our extended community who got involved. Thank you to our sponsors Perola Events, Sharjah Golf and Country Club, Touch of Clay, Blue Orange Games, and Eagle Sports Academy for their steadfast support.

We also would like to express our gratitude to the members of our parent community who donated gifts for our raffle draw.

Lastly, we would like to express our appreciation to all our families who attended the gathering. Our community Iftar would not be a success without your support.

We are pleased to announce our Padel Courts are officially open! The brand new Padel courts at NIS are now available for our community to book. We are happy to share that our school community can book these four courts at a special introductory rate of AED 60 per hour, per court until May 21, 2023.

High School Student Council Hosts Iftar for Support Staff As a way of giving back to the community, our High School Student Council hosted a Ramadan Iftar for our school's support staff, using the funds they raised from previous school events.

All of our school’s maintenance staff, cleaners, bus drivers, and security guards were in attendance during the gathering. This was our students' way of showing their appreciation and care for the people working behind the scenes.

This project is a testament to how our students model the TORCH (Tolerant, Organized, Respect, Care, Honest) Values both inside and outside the classroom.

Eid Donation Drive 2023 by the NIS National Honor Society In the spirit of Eid, our National Honor Society (NHS) club students launched a campaign to compile care boxes for our school staff.

Each year group was assigned a set of essential items to bring and to donate for the campaign.

The students were encouraged to drop their donations in the boxes placed around the school.

We would like to thank our NHS students for this wonderful campaign. Thank you to our students and families as well, for supporting us in this project.

NIS Holy Quran Competition 2023 NIS recently hosted a Holy Quran Competition. The competition aimed to promote the memorization and the application of the Quran teachings.

Students from KG2 to Grade 10 were all excited to participate in the competition.

After a day of great recitation from our students, we are happy to announce the winners who will represent NIS in the regional International Schools Partnership’s (ISP) Holy Quran Competition: KG2 - Dima E. Grade 1 - Layal J. Grade 2 - Susan J. Grade 3 - Yara S. Grade 4 - Anas E. Grade 5 - Joury E.

Beach Cleanup Project at JA Beach Resort At NIS, we give our students opportunities to connect their lessons to real-life issues. This is why we promote sustainable projects that our students can be involved in.

Our Elementary student council and Emirati students participated in a beach cleanup at JA Beach Resort, Jebel Ali, with the support of the Dubai Police.

Through this activity, our students learned about the importance of caring for the environment and the role that they can play. This is one of our school's TORCH Values and we want to ensure every student understands this..

At NIS, we are focused on the holistic development of the whole child through our school's TORCH (Tolerant, Organized, Respectful, Caring, Honest) Values.

Parent Workshop on Course Selection Nibras International School value the relationships with have built with our families.

To continue building our collaborative partnership, we invited parents of our Grades 8 to 11 students to our NIS Parent Academy session about "Course Selection."

During the workshop, Mr. Jason Sanservino, the Head of Secondary, Ms. Sabina Pecoraro, the Assistant Head of Secondary and Dean of Academics, Dr. Jay Teston, the School Principal, and the academic counselors were in attendance to discuss the importance of selecting the right courses for college applications, based on the student's interests and goals.

Fun Day at Oli-Oli for KG Students Our KG students went on a field trip to Oli Oli Al Qouz, with the goal of enhancing their knowledge of STEM Subjects.

During the trip, students were engaged in experiential learning. They were involved in activities that allowed them to work with different forces such as push and pull, which compliments the lessons from their Science unit.

To our NIS families, we would like to thank you. The response for re-enrolment has been overwhelming, and Dr. Jay Teston and the entire Leadership Team are pleased to see so many families returning to NIS next school year.

Science Made Fun Workshop Our Grade 4 students attended a Science workshop hosted by Science Made Fun where they conducted various experiments for them to question and test the concepts they have learned in class.

For the workshop, the students explored the science of sound and waves by creating their own version of a popsicle harmonica.

Using two popsicle sticks, rubber bands and straw, the students were challenged to make a sound by blowing on their self-made harmonica.

This activity shows that at NIS, we provide various opportunities for our students to apply their learning in diverse ways.

Save the Date: NIS 2023 Spring Concert and Art & Technology Exhibition The NIS Music Department, in partnership with the Art and Technology Departments, are pleased to announce the premiere of “I Dreamed A Dream,” - the 2023 Spring Concert and Art and Technology Exhibition for Nibras International School taking place on June 7, 2023 in the EIBFS Auditorium, Academic City.

This event is an opportunity for our students to showcase their work and the performances they have been working on for weeks.

We welcome families and the community to come and join us for a day of celebrating arts, music and technology.

The ticket price is 70 AED per person. There will be discounts for purchases of two or more tickets. All proceeds will be used to assist with the cost of the event.

Tickets to the event will go on sale starting May 8, 2023.

Our NIS Admissions Office is happy to welcome your friends and families to visit our campus during our Admissions Open Events for May 2023.

During their visit, they will have the opportunity to: Explore our campus Meet our Admissions Team Learn about how we deliver the American curriculum through an inquiry-based approach and the student's role in the learning process Make sure they register their attendance for one of our Open Days in May 2023 here.

March 2023 Highlights

Counting Down the Days Our Seniors have started doing their countdown to graduation. They designed the Class of 2023 countdown board which they will update every day.

Homeroom Door Design Competition Our Middle School students were asked to design the doors of their homeroom classrooms according to their chosen story book theme. This activity was an opportunity for students to tap into their creativity.

Model of Sustainable City Middle School students were asked to create a city following the principles of Geometry. They then had to make a sales pitch, as part of their lesson in English class, to convince their classmates and teachers to invest in their proposed city. This is an example of one of the interdisciplinary projects our students do in school.

Students as Characters of Macbeth Our high school students hosted an exhibition where they dressed up as the characters from Macbeth for English class. They also performed and delivered famous lines from Macbeth.
