What's New? Our Guiding Statement Dear Hamilton, I am delighted to share some thrilling news with you regarding the progress we've made over the past year in refining our guiding statements. Your invaluable input and the dedication of our parents and students has been instrumental in this transformative journey. Today, we are excited to launch the refined version of our guiding statements, reflecting the essence of The Hamilton International School. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you who contributed to this collaborative effort, and I am confident that these statements will serve as our compass in achieving our goals. I would like to highlight that all our policies are now reviewed with new guiding statements and can be found on Whole School Information on Sharepoint. I look forward to continuing to work together, as we empower our students to become the best versions of themselves. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our School. What Happened in Hamilton Pre-KG Build a Bear Workshop Our PreK students got a very exciting visit from Build A Bear Workshop at school, today! We sang and danced together, met the Build A Bear Workshop mascot and got to choose our very own teddy bear to keep! Then, we took our new cuddly friends out with us for a teddy bear picnic! G3 Exit Point Our students wrapped up their Grade 3 journey for semester 1 with a fantastic Exit Point for our topic ‘Explorers and Adventurers.’ They showcased their achievements through a vibrant exhibition, highlighting the creativity and hard work of their talented young minds. The excitement continued with a thrilling treasure hunt, bringing parents and students together for a memorable adventure.
G4 Exit Point In the final part of Semester 1, our Grade 4 students completed a unit called 'Being a Historian'. They began by looking at the job of a historian and using artifacts, trying to work out which artifacts belong to which teacher. At the end of this, they found out that all the artifacts were owned by only one teacher even though collectively, these artifacts told another story. This was their learning throughout this unit – that things aren’t always what they seem. They found out about bias, did several lessons on how to research accurately and asked a range of questions. At the Exit Point, they got to show this off along with the art they created timelines about themselves and completed homework about famous historical people which included dressing up. It was an exhibition, and students were the curators.

G6 - History Lesson As an introduction to their next unit in History, the Roman Empire, the Grade 6 students had to play the part of mystery solvers! They imagined they were museum guides but the head guide had been captured, taking the codes to the locks on their treasured artefact with him! The students had to work in groups to complete the missions to discover the codes.
Secondary QUESS Cross Country Competition In our latest sports news, The Hamilton International School was invited to join the annual QUESS CrossCountry Race! Held on the scenic trails of Dukhan Water Sports Park on January 28th, this event saw an enthusiastic participation from 20 schools with over 500 competitors. Our very own Hamilton Heroes, a dynamic squad of 32 students from Grades 5 to 11, showcased their athletic prowess in this great event. The weather played along perfectly, offering a challenging yet exhilarating race environment, complete with a slight headwind that added a twist to the already tough desert terrain. Our younger champions, in the Under 12-14 category, zipped through the 2km race, demonstrating both speed and stamina. The older students, in the Under 16-19 category, tackled the 4km race with equal fervor and determination. A spectacular victory in the Under 12 Boys category, where our student Ameer R. raced his way to the top, clinching the much-coveted 1st place gold medal. A performance that was nothing short of outstanding, Ameer truly shone as a young athlete of exceptional caliber. Each member of our team displayed remarkable spirit and sportsmanship. Their dedication, teamwork, and resilience were the real wins of the day.

Staff Spotlight
Mr. Chris Perry Assistant Head of Secondary Chris has a wide range of work experience in education, he was a Head of Department in his first school. He was appointed as Assistant Headteacher in Stockport for Key Stage 4 pastoral. Chris was appointed Deputy Head of Pastoral at a large International School in Doha. He is passionate about education that reaches and teaches the whole child and is particularly keen to support teachers in training and in their early careers. He has been invited to speak to trainee teachers and mentored NQTs and RQTs. Chris also enjoys writing blogs on all aspects of teaching and educational leadership.

We are very excited to invite you to the online inauguration event for our ISP Virtual Gallery , where the incredible art pieces of hundreds of participants of the first edition of ISP Artists will be exhibited . The theme of this exhibition is "Identity". Here are some things you should know:

Wednesday February 7 at 13:00 UTC. You can join the online event through the Zoom link embedded in the landing page of the exhibition! The live event will be recorded and uploaded in the Learning Hub for those unable to join us. • Exhibition period:
February - July 2024. The exhibition themed "Identity" will be up in the ISP Virtual Gallery until July. This means the students and the school community can access the Kunstmatrix platform and explore the stunning artwork for the following months! After this, the selected pieces for the second edition will be curated and uploaded to the gallery. You will receive a link to the permanent exhibition after the live event. • The ISP Virtual Gallery inauguration event is open to our whole ISP Community:

Important Announcement Lanyards To support the safety of our children at school, one of the key safeguarding measures we take at Hamilton is issuing a lanyard to all parents, visitors, contractors and staff members.
Navy Blue - Staff

Parents and guardians will require their red lanyard to enter the school building, otherwise they will be directed by the facilities/security team to reception to present their QID and get a temporary lanyard. This takes time and will no doubt be frustrating, so please we ask you to have your lanyard at all times. Each family gets two lanyards, an additional lanyard or a replacement will cost 50QR. if you have any questions, kindly contact Ms. Katrina at kchaplin@this.qa or Ms. Sarah at ssaleh@this.qa
