What's new? Soul for Music "Soul for Music" collaborates with Hamilton International Secondary School! In recent weeks, the Secondary School has been bustling with musical energy, all thanks to our dedicated students and Music teachers from Soul for Music who have been delivering a series of Drum Workshops to Grades 6, 7 and 8. Students have formed dynamic drumming groups, creating a captivating DRUM-LINE that has brought rhythm to our corridors. With a strong foundation in notation and music theory, these talented individuals have crafted unique beats that resonate globally, showcasing their creativity. We are delighted to share that our Drum Line Project in conjunction with Soul for Music has been successfully completed, marking a significant achievement for our students. Now, the anticipation is building as they embark on Guitar Workshops, infusing their musical journey with passion and innovation. Stay tuned for the melodies that will echo through Hamilton school. Let the soulful notes and rhythm weave their way, reminding us of the deep connection between soul and music, inspiring us with every tune.

What happened in Hamilton G3 Exit Point Our Grade 3 students completed their first Exit Point of the year for the topic, 'They Made a Difference'. In the course of studying this topic, students covered a wide range of art, science and social studies content. Students learned about a wide range of significant and influential people and what they did to make the world a better place. We made planes just like ‘The Wright Brothers’, we wrote letters to the UN about climate change like Greta Thunberg and we drew portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo. For our final project we had to choose one person that we thought was the most influential. We dressed up as them and made a poster to show what they had done to make a difference. We enjoyed telling our parents who we are and why we are significant.
G4 Exit Point Our Grade 4 students had their Entry Point for the new topic “Making New Matter”, they were prompted to head to the science lab by the distressed scientist "Dr. Micah Wave", who claimed there had been explosions in her lab and she was forced to flee, leaving her tasks incomplete. The Grade 4 students entered the lab at their own risk to view some dry ice 'explosions' and the mess they left behind. The three tasks and stations required the students to get messy, get curious, and get investigating. Station 1 was mystery matter bags, where they had to stick their hands in and guess what the mystery matter was inside. Station 2 was making new matter by mixing ingredients and making our own Play-Doh. Station 3 was viewing and touching ice hands and generating questions about them, their shape, and the way they were formed/melted. It was thoroughly exciting and engaging for the students who loved the speed of the tasks and the sense of urgency there was to complete Dr. Wave's work.
What happened in Hamilton Stress Management Workshop On World Mental Health Day, Hamilton parents, students, and staff members were involved in raising awareness on the importance of mental health and fighting stigma by participating in a range of activities. To mark this day, students and staff members were encouraged to wear green and show support on the importance of mental health. In support of this day, parents were keen to attend a Stress Management Workshop led by one of our Hamilton parents Clinical Psychologist, Mrs. Misbah Mansha. The workshop highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health, signs of emotional and physical stress, identifying triggers, and setting healthy coping strategies. Parents were also guided through practicing mindful breathing exercises and grounding techniques.
Secondary Students Council Speeches Middle school students are stepping into the spotlight as they take center stage during the school assembly to present their passionate visions for student council leadership. With enthusiasm, they're striving for the opportunity to represent their peers, sharing their plans to make their school a more inclusive, vibrant, and fun place. As they deliver their speeches and showcase their leadership potential, these students embody the promise of a brighter, student-driven Hamilton, where their voices and ideas truly matter.
