What's new? As part of their Enrichment Program, Grade 6 students have been learning about the importance of community service. To put their knowledge into practice, they participated in community service activities where they assisted KG2 and Grade 1 students in their lessons. During this experience, Grade 6 students actively engaged with the younger students, reading books, helping with their work, and completing tasks to aid their learning. This provided them with a hands-on opportunity to apply their learning and develop valuable skills such as patience, leadership, and communication. The program's focus on community service enables students to not only gain knowledge but also to make a positive impact on their community while also learning from the experience.

What's on in Hamilton KG2 - Entry Point During our Exit Point for The Magic Toymaker, we invited all parents into school. The children have been working hard on home projects and getting into the character of a Toymaker. They created wonderful new toys and games. We showcased these during our Exit Point, as well as all of our knowledge that we learned during this unit. We had a focus on old and new toys, materials of toys, instructions of games and how electric toys work.
Grade 1- Exit Point It was an exciting morning for Grade One students and parents, as they enjoyed the grand finale and Exit Point of the IPC unit, ‘From A-B’. Parents and students participated in a large obstacle course organized on the field. They had to get from point A to point B and follow along through a series of obstacles and interactive challenges including jumping from cone to cone, pushing a train along its tracks, folding a tinfoil boat, sprints and crabwalking! Students scooted to B on push-scooters and tricycles. Another aspect of the Exit Point was the series of questions that related directly to the learning outcomes, which prompted students to demonstrate for their parents the knowledge gained. Questions related to the invention of different modes of transport, event timelines and ways children get to school around the world. It was a fabulous time in the morning sunshine!
What's on in Hamilton Grade 5 - Exit Point Grade 5 students put on an amazing performance on Wednesday afternoon, showcasing their creativity and talent in a drama performance titled "A Very Mythical Experience". The performance featured three tales; King Midas and the Golden Touch, Medusa and Theseus & the Minotaur, signed off with some excellent singing. Grade 5 students put a lot of time into preparing for this event, learning lines and creating costumes, with the help of their teachers and parents. The students' hard work and dedication truly shone through, making for a wonderful performance. Well done, Grade 5!

The Counselor's Corner The Bobo Doll Experiment Study Conducted by: Dr. Albert Bandura Study Conducted between 1961-1963 at Stanford University Experiment Footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=dmBqwWlJg8U “Bandura's Bobo Doll Experiment” Experiment Details: “During the early 1960s a great debate began regarding the ways in which genetics, environmental factors, and social learning shaped a child’s development. This debate still lingers and is commonly referred to as the Nature vs. Nurture Debate. Albert Bandura conducted the Bobo Doll Experiment to prove that human behavior is largely based upon social imitation rather than inherited genetic factors.
Aya Hijazi
School Counselor
In his groundbreaking study, he separated participants into three groups: one was exposed to a video of an adult showing aggressive behavior towards a Bobo doll; another was exposed to video of a passive adult playing with the Bobo doll; and the third formed a control group. Children watched their assigned video and then were sent to a room with the same doll they had seen in the video (with the exception of those in the control group). What the researcher found was that children exposed to the aggressive model were more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior towards the doll themselves, while the other groups showed little imitative aggressive behavior. The study also showed that boys exhibited more aggression when exposed to aggressive male models than boys exposed to aggressive female models. The results concerning gender differences strongly supported Bandura’s secondary prediction that children will be more strongly influenced by same-sex models. The Bobo Doll Experiment showed a groundbreaking way to study human behavior and its influences.’’ The 25 Most Influential Psychological Experiments in History - Online Psychology Degree Guide.
