Venedik Bienali’nde Makedonya bu yıl Hristina Ivanoska ve Yane Calovski’nin ortak projesi ‘We are all in this alone’ ile temsil edildi. Kuratörlüğünü, Makedonya Pavyonu’na atanan ilk yabancı kuratör olan Başak Şenova’nın yaptığı, Makedonya Kültür Bakanlığı’nın desteğiyle gerçekleştirilen bu proje Makedonya Ulusal Galerisi’nin yardımcı kuratörü Maja

Curated by Başak Şenova, the first foreign curator appointed to the Pavilion of the Republic of Macedonia, the project was commissioned by the deputy curator Maja Cankulovska Mihajlovska of the National Gallery of Macedonia and supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia. GEZİ / TRAVEL KALAVAÇ KÖYÜ KALAVAÇ VILLAGE
K
uzey Kıbrıs’ın Lefkoşa İlçesi’nde bulunan Kalavaç köyü, Beşparmak Dağları eteklerinde, Osmanlı’dan miras, kültürel ve doğal yapısı bozulmayan, Kıbrıs Türk kültürünün ve geleneklerinin en güzel şekilde yaşatıldığı köylerden biridir. 800 yıllık yüzlerce zeytin ağacının bulunduğu bu küçük köyün çevresi doğa yürüyüşü yolu olarak düzenlenmiştir. Bazı zeytin ağaçları yaşlı olmalarına rağmen, hala ürün vermektedir. Bu bölgedeki zeytin ağaçları görülmeğe değerdir. Kalavaç köyü endemik bitkileri, botanik dere yatakları, ekolojik alanları ve 800 yıllık ağaçları besleyen şifalı suyu ile ünlüdür. Kuşkusuz Osmanlı’dan kalma otantik evleri ile de görülmeye değer bir köyümüzdür. Kalavaç köyü, Ercan Havaalanı yonca kavşağından yaklaşık 10 km. ileridedir ve Mağusa yolu üzerindeki yol levhaları takip edilerek rahatlıkla bulunur. 4 VİTA ACTİVA - ARALIK/DECEMBER

Nowadays, this “old” market, surrounded by magnificent historical assets such as the Bedesten Selemiye Mosque,The Great Inn and the Gamblers Inn, is the centre of attraction for, more so than the locals, tourists and on foot tourists that cross over from the “Lokmacı Border” in South Lefkosa (Nicosia). If you set out from Sarayonu or as it is called by its official name
Ataturk Square and walk straight down to the Lokmacı Border, there is no way you can miss this street… In the past bus routes were scheduled from many villages to Lefkosa.The majority of these buses would gather around the market, therefore people descending or boarding would most certainly benefit from the market. Naturally just like the whole world, North Cyprus experienced important social, economic and commercial developments.The capitol’s traffic structure changed. Citizens started using their own private vehicles much more. More modern looking markets and stores opened up in areas on the outskirts of the city. And Arasta lost its “interest”. Nonetheless if you want to breathe in the real Lefkosa; to see the shoemakers, clothe makers, gift shop traders, or even the delicious small restaurants down the narrow streets you should most definitely visit this place. Since you’re already there you’ll have visited the great historical structures such as the Selemiye Mosque, the Great Inn, and the Gamblers Inn that surround it.

Rumca’dan dilimize giren garavolli kelimesinin sözlükteki karşılığı salyangoz, sümüklüböceğe denk gelmekteyse de, salyangoz kabuklu; sümüklüböcek ise kabuksuz ve/veya kabuğu körelmiş olan yumuşakçaların adıdır. Garavolli hakkında ilginç bilgiler Bu hayvanların üreme organları başlarındadır. Bazı çöl salyangozlarının yemek yemeksizin 4 yıla kadar uyuyabildikleri saptanmıştır. Garavollinin sürünürken bıraktığı “mukus” adlı madde sürtünmeyi azaltmak ve sürünme hareketine yardımcı olmak içindir. Bu maddenin ayrıca karıncalara karşı da koruma sağladığı bilinmektedir. Mukus, garavolliyi sürtünmeyle oluşacak yaralanmalara karşı da korumaktadır. Bu maddenin yardımıyla garavolli, keskin

aravolli which can be seen almost everywhere in Cyprus, especially after the rain.The word ‘garavolli’ is a borrowing from Greek and its English equivalent is snail or slug; to be more specific, snails are shelled and slugs are non-shelled mollusca species.
The mucus left as trace by the Garavolli functions as a lubricant to help it crawl. It is also know that this secretion protects the animal from ants. It also protects the slug from injuries that may occur due to crawling.With the help of this substance, the slug can even move on a sharp knife or the cutting edge of a razor, without having the smallest injury or cut. Garavolli can renew itself. We hope that expected Cyprus’ rains of plenty bring plenty of happiness to all our readers.

damızda gömeç, haşlanmış olarak limon ve tuz eşliğinde yemeklerin yanında tüketildiği gibi, yumurtayla kızartılır, hatta zeytinyağlı yemeği dahi yapılır. Gömeçle yapılan çorba ise faydaları saymakla bitmeyen, kış aylarına özgü en müstesna lezzetlerden biridir.

ömeçler iyice yıkandıktan sonra 1 cm kalınlığında ince şeritler halinde kesilir ve suda haşlanır. Daha sonra buna 1 kahve fincanı pirinç atılır, tuz ve pul biber eklenir. Yirmi dakika kadar sonra, doğranan soğan pembeleşinceye kadar zeytinyağında kızartılır ve çorbaya eklenir. Kısa bir süre daha pişirildikten sonra servis edilir. Afiyet olsun.

A
fter you wash the honeycombs thoroughly, chop them into pieces of about one centimetre and boil them. Later, add in the rice, salt and chilly flakes. After about twenty minutes, cube the onion and fr y it with the olive oil until golden, and add it into the soup. Boil it for a shor t while longer and serve. Bon Appetite!

oil the whole chicken. Bone and skin it and pick the meat to large shreds. Add the flour into the water that you had boiled the chicken. The measure should be a spoonful of flour for each glass of water and have the creamy dough. Then, in this dough, add the chicken, salt, black pepper, and black bumming. With a large spoon, take pieces of chicken with the dough in sizes a little larger than whole nuts and deep-fry them. Take them into a serving platter with a colander. You can serve it hot or cold. Bon Appetite!
