WHO’S WHO

CHRIS BERCHILD Sound Designer

Chris is the chairperson of the ISU Department of Theater, and is proud parent (along with Tresa Makosky) of Tycho John and Bianca Róisín. Chris has directed and designed numerous productions at ISU and Crossroads Repertory Theatre. His projection design work can be seen regionally at Indiana Repertory Theatre and The Phoenix Theatre. Chris thanks you all for supporting collegiate theater at ISU!

PAUL BONTRAGER

Mr. Bennet/Charlotte Lucas

Paul is making his Indiana State University Department of Theater debut in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. In the past he has played Bacchus in PANDEMONIUM, and Sebastian in CHILDREN OF THE MUSKETEERS. Paul is a freshman English, Theater, and French secondary education major from Seymour, Indiana.

ELENA EMMERICH

Jane/Miss De Bourgh

Elena is making her Indiana State University Department of Theatre debut in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. She has previously played Gwendolyn Fairfax in THE IMPORTA NCE OF BEING EARNEST, Mrs. Frank in DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, and Juliet in ROMEO AND JULIET. She is a freshman majoring in language studies teaching and is from Greencastle, Indiana.

IRENA “JELLY” FLETCHER

Mr. Collins

Irena is a sophomore who made her debut last year in THE TEMPEST. She’s a theater major from Louisville, KY and has appeared in numerous community theater roles in her hometown such as Ursula in LITTLE MERMAID JR; Akeelah in AKEELAH AND THE BEE, to name a couple. She enjoys singing, drawing, and cosplay.

ANNIE GILLILAND

Lydia/Lady Catherine

Annie is making her Indiana State University Department of Theater debut in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Annie is a sophomore theatre major with a dance minor and hopes to pursue directing in the future. Some of her favorite past roles are Essie in YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU, and Emma in EMMA.

HALIEY HUGHES

Mrs. Bennett/Servant

This is Haliey’s sixth production with the Indiana State University Department of Theatre (Caroline, DETROIT 67’; Juliet, MEASURE FOR MEASURE; Annalise and Clay, HORROR VAUDEVILLE; Mouse, Yellow bird, squirrel, young frog, mole, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD; Miss Stapleton, Cartwright, Mrs. Barrymore, Mrs. Clayton, etc., BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY). Haliey is also President of APO and Vice President of Student Theatre Association. Haliey is a Senior theatre major with an acting concentration from Jeffersonville, IN.

MICHAEL JACKSON Scenic Designer

Michael has designed lighting for ROMEO AND JULIET, THE CAY and THE LITTLE CHOO CHOO THAT THINKS SHE CAN at the Indiana Repertory Theatre. Other regional theatre credits include ten productions for the former Cardinal Stage company, including NEXT TO NORMAL, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, and ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST. He has also designed for the Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre, and the Florida Studio Theatre. For Crossroads Repertory Theatre, he has designed scenery and/or lighting for 12 seasons, as well as serving as Director of Production since 2015. For the Department of Theater at Indiana State University, Michael serves as Associate Professor and Production Manager as well as resident Lighting and Scenic designer. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Evansville, and his M.F.A. in Design for Stage and Film from NYU.

CRYSTAL JOHNSON Stage Manager

Crystal is a stage manager from Indianapolis, IN. Some of her favorite stage management credits include THE LITTLE CHOO CHOO THAT THINKS SHE CAN at Indiana Repertory Theatre as well as THE RING OF FIRE, HAIRSPRAY, and CYRANO DE BERGERAC at Crossroads Repertory Theatre. She earned her BS in Theater from Indiana State University.

AMANDA KELLEY Assistant Stage Manager

Amanda is a Junior Theater major raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. During the Summer, she Assistant Stage Managed for two of Crossroads Repertory’s productions, RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA and NOISES OFF. Amanda has assistant stage managed four productions. Amanda is looking forward to working on more shows in the future.

OLIVIA MEDINA Lizzy

Olivia is a sophomore theater major and has been in two previous productions with the Indiana State University Department of Theater (Caliban, THE TEMPEST; Alicia, SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS). Before attending ISU, Olivia was in multiple productions with her high school, Prairie Heights, and some of her favorite roles include, Brooke in NOISES OFF and Meredith in WHY DO WE LAUGH.

ABBY MILLER Miss Bingley/ Wickham

This will be Abby’s second production with the ISU Department of Theater (Miranda, THE TEMPEST). Her other favorite roles include Lina Lamont in SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN. and The White Rabbit in ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Abby is a sophomore theater major, and member of Delta Gamma and Alpha Psi Omega.

KATE MOTT Costume Designer

Kate earned her BA in Costume Design from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008 and her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2014. Kate’s designs include, LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST, directed by Edward Stern, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at Creede Repertory Theatre, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST at Constellation Stage and Screen, and RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA at Crossroads Repertory Theater. Kate’s favorite designs at ISU include A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, and BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY.

CRAIG ROBINSON Mary/Mr. Bingley

Craig is a junior English teaching major with a theater acting minor from Greencastle, IN. This is his 5th production at ISU. His most recent role was Jan in the spring production of SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS. Other ISU show credits include THE TEMPEST and DEATHTRAP. He recently received the Undergraduate Performance Award and best lead performer for his portrayal of Jan, both in May 2023.

CANNON ROOP Mr. Darcy

Cannon is a sophomore at ISU. This will be his second show that he is performing in for the Indiana State University Department of Theater. He was previously in the ensemble in BASKERVILLE: A SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY. He also just previously worked professionally for Crossroads Repertory Theatre as an ensemble member in RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA. Cannon has been acting since 5th grade and acted in high school through West Washington High School.

JOSIE SMITH Assistant Stage Manager

This will be Josie’s sixth production with the Indiana State University Department of Theater, and her fourth time assistant stage managing. Some previous shows include: DETROIT ‘67, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, and HORROR VAUDEVILLE. She also worked as Props Supervisor on A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, and acted in DEATHTRAP as Helga Ten Dorp. Josie is a Junior theatre major and works in the scene shop.

DAVID BW VOGEL Lighting Designer

David is the Scenic Designer and Technical Director at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN. David also teaches theater production courses, and previously taught at Virginia’s Eastern Mennonite University, Washington University in St. Louis, Penn State University, Huntington University, and Indiana State University. Professional credits include scenery and light designs for CREATION CHRONICLES and FISH EYES with Ted&Co TheaterWorks; in St. Louis, lighting for the St. Louis Ballet (NUTCRACKER); in Pennsylvania, sets and lights for Loaves & Fishes TRT (DRIVING MISS DAISY); in Minnesota, lights for the Illusion Theater and Children’s Theatre School, and lights and scenery for the Paul Bunyan Playhouse (LEND ME A TENOR, FOXFIRE. In Minnesota, David was a co-founder and artist with Taproot Theatre of Minnesota, a group that toured provocative, inspirational dramatic works to civic and religious organizations.

HEIDI WINTERS VOGEL Director

Heidi is a director, improv storytelling performer and theater faculty at Wabash College in Indiana. She directed AS YOU LIKE IT, ANON[YMOUS], THE PITMAN PAINTERS, and WHERE IS OUR BELOVED COMMUNITY (devised production) at Wabash, and ARTEMISIA’S INTENT at Silk Moth Stage since 2019. During the pandemic, Heidi directed virtual productions of an international collaboration of THE ROMEO AND JULIET PROJECT with Organizational Theatre of India, THE RACE at Wabash College, CLUE for Crossroads Repertory Theatre and performer of Playback Theatre for global audiences. Pre-COVID, Heidi directed professionally for Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Next Stage, Avalon Theatre Company and Unreal City, among others.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATER

The Indiana State University Department of Theater provides practical experience and training that equips undergraduate students with a broad-based or a disciplinefocused theater education in an inclusive and supportive environment. The Department provides a one-of-a-kind, hands-on learning experience in all aspects of theater. Our students work in performance, design, production, direction, and administration before they graduate; this well-rounded training prepares them for a wide variety of careers in the performance and entertainment industries.
