THTR 482: Theater Theory, taught by Chris Berchild, is the capstone course for all theater majors. This course is an intensive study of various approaches to examining the theater experience, including aesthetic, formal, literary, political, psychological, and performance theories. MACBETH

This adaptation of the play focuses on the witches as mechanisms of fate. The entire world as we see it is controlled, constructed, and populated by the witches in an attempt to bring about Macbeth’s demise. Tonight, you will see only part of the entire play--from Act I, scene 1 to the end of Act II, scene 1. This partial performance of MACBETH is presented by students enrolled in Julie Dixon’s THTR 414G: Cultural Study and Performance class. This performance serves as fulfillment, in part, of grants received by the Department of Theater from Indiana State University’s Center for Global Engagement, Center for Student Research and Creativity, and College of Arts & Sciences. These grants helped to financially support student study abroad over Spring Break 2022 in London and Stratford-upon-Avon in the United Kingdom.
