PRODUCTION INFORMATION This show runs approximately 30 minutes. There will NOT be an intermission. ~ Any photography, video and/or audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited. ~ The songs used in the 2-MINUTE DANCE FESTIVAL are performed by special arrangement with The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI).

WHY STUDY DANCE? The study and performance of dance play a vital role in a college education by developing students as whole, engaged learners physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Dance cultivates embodied knowledge, asking students to think critically through movement while developing discipline, focus, and intentionality. Through rehearsal and performance, students practice collaboration, problem-solving, and risk-taking, skills that translate directly to academic, professional, and personal contexts. Dance also deepens students’ understanding of culture, history, and identity. By engaging with diverse styles and traditions, students learn to value perspectives different from their own and to recognize the body as a powerful site of expression and communication. This embodied dialogue is increasingly important in a world that values adaptability, empathy, and creativity. For college students, regardless of major, dance encourages self-awareness, resilience, and confidence. It provides a space to explore creativity, manage stress, and connect mind and body in ways traditional coursework often cannot. Ultimately, the study and performance of dance empower students to engage more fully with themselves, their communities, and the world around them.
