scholastic achievement. Nicole’s journey began in the fall of 2017, when she decided to attend Idaho State as a first-generation college student pursuing a degree in management. “In choosing an area of study, management was by far the most intriguing. Not only does the career field teach you how to lead others, but it also fosters individual growth. It challenges you, by nature, to practice self-exploration and improvement,” said Milford. After interning at the 366th Medical Treatment Facility during the summer of 2019, she decided to pursue a second degree in healthcare administration as well. Growing up as a military dependent, Milford has lived in many different areas but has mostly resided in a small, rural military town in Idaho. She plans to have a career in the United States Air Force. “After graduating from Idaho State in December of 2020 with both a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, I enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration program here at Idaho State. Following the completion of my graduate degree in the fall of 2021, I plan to use my credentials to propel me into an officer role in the United States Air Force,

Remembering a year full of hope For the world, 2020 was a novel and peculiar experience. Despite a world kept apart, we managed to stay connected in a variety of new and innovative ways. Despite the challenges, we all made our best effort to stay positive and keep moving forward. For the College of Business, this year was full of opportunities to keep looking toward the future. In 2020, the College of Business and its students found hope in the generosity of numerous alumni and friends. In less than a year, we received 10 new endowments, two professorships and several other gifts dedicated to the success of our students that will live on in perpetuity. This great generosity has been a beacon of light for our College during a year that was so difficult in so many other ways. Here are a few of the latest scholarship endowments not yet featured in a Business Bulletin issue. DON & CYNDEE ZEBE SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

College of Business alumnus Don Zebe and his wife Cyndee established the first endowed sales scholarship in University history. This scholarship will benefit full-time junior or senior-level students pursuing the College of Business’s Sales Certificate.

GARY AND SUSAN CAMPBELL SCHOLARSHIP & PROFESSORSHIP

Finance alumnus Gary Campbell and his wife Susan established the Dr. Bill Phillips Memorial Endowed Professorship in Finance and the Gary D. and Susan G. Campbell Scholarship Endowment to aid finance majors in their educational investment. The Campbells chose to donate so that “others may experience opportunities to learn, grow, prosper and give back to their communities.” BILLY D. VICKERS MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT

The Billy D. Vickers Memorial Endowment was established as a way to give back to the community, honor Bill’s memory in perpetuity and contribute to the Vickers legacy. The scholarship benefits marketing and Master of Business Administration students, especially those that have participated in rodeo.

HIRNING FAMILY EXCELLENCE IN ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

This scholarship was established by accounting alumnus Kelly Hirning, his wife Kimberly and his father, Art Hirning, the owners of Hirning Buick GMC in Pocatello, Idaho. The family founded the “Hirning Family Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Endowment” to help support students majoring in accounting.

AFLAC EXCELLENCE IN SALES SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

The Aflac Excellence in Sales Scholarship Endowment supports students pursuing the Professional Selling Certificate program at Idaho State. “Aflac is committed to fostering leadership and development in our sales program and to the future of the sales profession.”

JAKE & GRACE JONES SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

This scholarship endowment was established by Jake and Grace Jones, owners of Jakers Bar & Grill. The Jake and Grace Jones Scholarship Endowment will benefit junior and senior-level students enrolled fulltime in the College with good academic standing.

PETER C. KOLE - DR. C. SHANE HUNT SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

Peter C. Kole is one of the College of Business’s most generous alumni. Since his graduation in 1963, Kole and his wife Nancy have established nine endowments within the College in addition to numerous other contributions to other campus programs. The College is proud to announce Kole’s latest endowment in the name of the College of Business dean. BILL BYRNE (‘67 & ’71) MBA/ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

The Bill Byrne (’67 & ‘71) MBA/Athletic Administration Scholarship Endowment was established by wellknown athletic director Bill Byrne and his wife Dr. Marilyn Byrne, both Idaho State alumni. The scholarship will benefit graduate students pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree from the College of Business with an emphasis in athletic administration from the College of Education.

A passion for education

Although Ruth Ann Bennett (1937 – 2020) was not an alumna of Idaho State University, she left a part of her legacy to the College of Business and several other universities and non-profits with which she was connected. Bennett, an alumna of Iowa State University, was the niece of Burton Albertson, who graduated from Idaho State University in 1924 with a degree in business education. Prior to her passing, Bennett contributed regularly to the Burton J. Albertson Memorial Scholarship, in addition to a second generous contribution to the scholarship in her will. The Burton J. Albertson Memorial Scholarship was established in 1983 and benefits seniors or graduate students in the Idaho State University College of Business who have a financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.8. Bennett was born in Hancock, Michigan to George Baggley and Herma Albertson Baggley, where her father managed the Isle Royale National Park. Bennett’s mother made history as the Park Service’s first female Ranger-Naturalist and co-authored the book “Plants of Yellowstone”. After frequent moves and travels in her childhood, Bennett enrolled at Iowa State University, where she joined Delta Delta Delta and graduated in 1959 with a degree in institution management. After

Bennett was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone and so throughout her life made many friends and connections around the world, where she left lasting impressions and fond memories. She stayed close to her sorority sisters and joined the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), which supports the advancement of women through education, especially those at Cottey College in Missouri. Bennett’s support of education extended beyond her passing, as she left her estate to numerous scholarships at various institutions and charities.
