ALEX BOLINGER, PH.D. The Associate Professor of Management was elected to be the Communications Director of the Western Academy of Management (WAM). WAM is a regional branch of the international Academy of Management, which is the largest academic organization for management scholars in the world.

BURCH & BOLINGER Management professors Tyler Burch, Ph.D. and Alex Bolinger, Ph.D. published an article in Management Teaching Review about an in-class activity that they use to teach the principles of delegation and empowerment. The activity involves designing a pen holder using MegaBloks.

KARL GEISLER, PH.D. The economics professor’s paper, “Hate Crimes and Minority-Owned Businesses” was published in the Review of Black Political Economy. Geisler found that hate crimes in a county reduce the number of minority-owned businesses there.

MCCARDLE & SPECK Marketing professor Sandra Speck, Ph.D. and former professor Jie McCardle, Ph.D.’s paper “A Comparative Study of Social Comparison, Materialism, and Subjective Well-being in the U.S., China, Croatia, and India” was accepted for December publication in the Journal of Business Diversity.
