Leading the Way Information is the world’s most valuable asset, and in the College of IST it drives everything we do. As one of the first information schools—or iSchools—we’re leading the way in understanding how intelligent creatures and machines use information to understand the universe.

By leveraging expertise from a variety of fields, we are advancing solutions in artificial intelligence to user-centered design, cybersecurity to national security, and everything in between.

Through our Be You in Tech campaign, you can learn to lead a new generation of inclusive collaborators, creative thinkers, and empowered innovators. By engaging in inclusive spaces and challenging established standards, you will understand how to be your authentic self and how different perspectives lead to meaningful change.

Required Internship // ist.psu.edu/internship Internships enhance your education and prepare you for professional life. That’s why every IST student is required to complete at least one internship before graduating, letting you test-drive a particular set of job duties, a company, or a career path. With 84% of students receiving a job offer from an internship provider, their internship is a critical step in landing their first job.

Digital Fluency // ist.psu.edu/laptop As an IST student, you must have a laptop that meets minimum specifications. This requirement better positions you to collaborate effectively, receive hands-on instruction, and use flexible educational environments—all of which equip you with the digital fluency needed to create new knowledge and thrive in emerging careers.
