Hello, I’m Issam Alabdullah.

I am a 30-years-old architect, project manager and real-estate specialist, seeking to learn, contribute and expand my references in the field of architecture and construction.

I was born and raised in Syria, I graduated there and during my journey in college I worked in a construction company. I learned a lot about the relationship between architecture and construction, the thing that pushed me forward to continue my masters in construction project management and real estate development in Budapest. These experiences allowed me to become a good team player and it made me a good problem solver working in a deadline-driven environment as well.

Qabr Atiqa Rehabilitation

Location: Damascus, Syria

Year: 2014-2015

Undergraduate Design Studio

Category: Rehabilitation & Urban Design

It is an ancient neighborhood (750 AD) in the middle of Damascus, that dates back to the Umayyad period. It was a palace and a garden for the princess Atiqa bint Yazed, and it is considered as a timeline mixture of buildings since it still has many Umayyad, Mumluki and Ottoman buildings. The studied area is a new part of this ancient neighborhood, but it’s the most important area in this neighborhood, since it is a cross road and a gate to the city center and to the old city for the people coming from the southern neighborhoods of Damascus.

The project strategy based on two phases:

The first phase is providing 5 main elements:

1.Socialism : by providing public spaces and gardens and create social locations

2.Environment: by increasing the green areas and reducing the pollution in addition to organizing the area and adding sufficient parking areas.

3.Sustainability :by collecting the rain water, adding solar panels, and green roofs.

4.Economy: by providing new jobs with the stall market and the traditional market 5.Culture: by providing cultural buildings such as the exhibition, the theater and library.

The second phase is designing the new library and theatre in the end of the plan axis under the name “ The Cultural Gate ”

The meain concept is to create a semi-open entrance that links the outer space with the inner space and makes a spatial connection into the old city. It contains facilities sthat erve all social categories and ages, for instance: bookshops, public library, kids library, theatre, exhibitions and galleries.

The concept of the design is derived from the sand dunes that extend along the first railway line established between Damascus and The Holy lands in Saudi Arabia , where the first train started its journey from Damascus to Medina in 1908, penetrating the desert with its sand dunes, However the construction concept gives a clear example of the exploitation of the structural elements as an aesthtic factor. Obvious structure module and elements, monumental scale and raw materials are carefully applied

Max Herz Basha Restoration Center&Exhibition

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Year: 2019

Master Design Studio

Category: Exhibition & Restoration

The project is a restoration center and exhibition hall for islamic arts and architecture, on the name of the famous Hungarian architect Max Basha who helped the Egyptian kings in restoring the Islamic heritage in Egypt. The project is situated in the middle of old Cairo near the Sultan Hassan Mosque and Madrassa, and not too far from the castle of Mohamad Ali .The proposal is to build a building that can serve the function of restoration and attracts people to know more about their culture and Identity, respecting the surrounding religious buildings at the same time with expressing the glory of the name of Max Basha

Project design development of the concept

I started from the Islamic geometry and based on straight lines and shapes with rotation of 45 degree to avoid the direct sun radiation from the southern elevation and in order to make direct optical connection between Max basha’s center and his masterpiece ( Sultan Hassan Mosque) on the opposite side of the street, that is the dominating building of the hall area. I tried to make a big base under a very controlling volume in order to reflect the shape of the surrounding building so I played the game of solid and void in the landscape with the Almahmodyah mosque to reach this spatial approach

Using of Malqaf : Malqaf or wind destriputer is an old Arabic method was used in Arab world to do many tasks for the building such as collecting cool wind and shafting the hot air outside the building, in my building I designed to large shafts next to the elevators with openings towards the main lobbies inevery floor in order to help taking thehot air to the roof garden in the last floor and then this hot air moves outside the building through openable windows in the lower part of the dom , this method reduces the need of both cooling and ventilation and it works as a natural air- conditioning system

The building is base on an RC skeleton and the envelop is to layers the first layer is a the norm alls which we can use brick for it and the second layer is the Mashrabyah Layer, a shading element that we add to the Southern and Northern elevation to reduce the radiation

Zirc Park service building

Location: Zirc, Hungary

Year: 2020

Architectural Compition Category: Architectural & Urban Design

In the heart of the Zirc national park and as a step from the Hungarian government to attract more tourists this architectural compition was aiming at providing a new service building with outdoor facilities to cover the need of the potential tourists without cutting a tree and with less change in the environment. My concept was based on building a module into a rectangle that links an old existing building with the entrance and a group of a very old trees, and then following the land typography building terraces over the water and providing seat areas in front of the lake and the service building
