Its origins date back to the early years of the 13th century when a powerful Longobard clan from the Elsa valley, the Conti Albertis, chose this as the site for their castle. It was later converted into the elegant villa you can see today. The Conti Alberti family owned the property until the 17th century and traces of the original 13th century fort in the square brick tower and the walls alongside are still discernible.
